Not to many good audio examples of this amazing engine on the tubes. 20 valves make a hell of a sound and is something special. Engine was transplanted into a Toyota Corolla FX16 GTS - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
The 4AGE has always sounded like old school 'motorsport'... one of the best engines I've ever enjoyed, I have no issue with putting these things up against big torquey engines in terms of comparing characteristics and driveability.

@@jaanuspapp1333 Exactly, the 4AGE block is apparently a direct copy of the BDA Cosworth engine used in F1 from the late 60s onwards.
@@Nemoticon Not exactly a copy, more like was designed around a similar premise for a lightweight 4cylinder NA engine at least. or took inspiration from the Cosy at most (there was a guy that made a yt vid explaining this, ill see if I can find and link this).
@@griffins5655 It is actually a legitimate copy, Toyota bought Cosy BDA and remolded it to almost exacting specifications, with very few modifications to the design. The biggest difference is the Yamaha designed head.

Okay you need to record a video of that car going around a track or something pointed at the throttle like that. That was amazing. I'd love to see the throttle while someone blipped it during a downshift. It was very satisfying.

To each their own, I personally love the low revs of a Toyota 4cylinder but I guess that comes from growing up in one and knowing what It can do.
That deep tone likely comes from the ITBs, but Hondas can sound pretty similar when kept NA with an aftermarket intake. It's the fart-can exhaust that everyone hates, including me. I don't give a shit about exhaust sound. It's all about induction noise. That's what you hear in the drivers seat.
Dude just the sound of itb makes me wanna cry because it sounds so good even just a 4age relaxes me

This is what I love about 4AGEs. If you're off the throttle, they just sound like a normal, well tuned 4 cylinder, nothing special, then (for 16v) TVIS hits and the character completely changes and it sounds beastly!

Rebuilt my dads 4afe several times to keep it running the best way it was a Carib 4wd twin cam 1600 spent over 10 grand on that car for 17 years
Dad had it before I was even born I’m 14 btw when I was 5 I used to help him fixing parts sold that car over a year ago right now I just dream about that car every night

Back in 1999/2000 I put a silver top 20v from a front cut into my Australian AE82 Corolla Twin Cam…. It was a BEAST. I really miss that car 😢

Took my 4age 20v ST out for a quick drive yesterday after standing since our lockdown here in South Africa 27 March and it was probably one of the best feelings ever to use that car i was so happy to just hear that sound again it felt like 2019 again to me 😢😢😢😢😭
I have a Corolly with the same chassis, but with a 12 valve 1.3 litre engine. I love it so much, but I wish I had it with and engine like this. But my father used to have one of these cars back in the days
