@@RevengeOfTheShowYes, I enjoyed both of those quite a bit. Band of Brothers especially as I had a great uncle who wasn't at D-Day but was part of the sweep across Europe, the Battle of the Bulge and helped liberate Dachau. 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. Combat Engineer.
I believe Yeager was able to fly again because the allies had retaken France, so there was no need to keep French resistance fighters’ identities a secret.
Enjoying it all so far...until the cat part...Yeah understandable WHY but still...A CAT?! The episode's special effects weren't all that great either compared to episodes 3 & 5. But a very informative episode.
Re the drop tanks on the '47s, yes, so many bomber crews got sacrificed for the stubborness not to try and get escorts farther.

I watched the first few episodes but it never really took off for me.

It was just after d day. And he raised so much hell that Eisenhower got word of it and agreed that he could return.
