Pea protein all the way. I'm not even vegan, it just sits better in the stomach and doesn't give me acne. Not to mention the hormones from American dairy. Not to mention that I get it for 1/3rd the price of whey for each gram of protein. For this reason, I can afford to supplement 70 grams of protein a day just from pea protein. Even when I was struggling for cash in college, pea protein and ramen kept me at maintenance.
Although there is no research to support whey protein and acne development, it's important to notice how your unique body tolerates different foods and supplements. There are many factors that can contribute to symptoms like acne. However, some people feel better when they consume pea protein vs whey protein. It's important to play around and see what suits you best :)
I'm sold on pea protein isolate to supplement my animal based diet. I say 'no whey' mainly for digestibility - my gut, my choice - lol. Now the taste of pea protein - umm no. Slowly getting used to it 😝
Glad you enjoy pea protein! Sometimes it's a matter of playing around with recipes and ingredients to make it taste great. Adding it to smoothies with fruits, veggies, and even nut butters can be a great way to make it taste great. Feel free to get other ideas from our website, too.
Whey wrecks havoc on my stomach I have no idea why. I’ve tried multiple whey protein supplements and it messes me up every time. Which is weird because I eat meat and drink dairy with no issues. I just got my order of the “Naked Shake” pea protein powder and we’ll see how my body reacts.
Very informational, thanks. I mostly use Whey because that is what I see at the store and grab and go. I know, not a very logical move. But my main question is about age. I'm in the 50 age bracket, and of course, I have noticed my body is doing different things, like gaining weight by looking at ice cream in the grocery store's frozen aisle. The question is which would be better suited for older active people, and does gender have a role? Also, I do smoothies with my protein powder. What would be a great addition to these shakes to make them a better complete balanced diet? (broccoli, spinach, and nuts)
Gender does not particularly have a role when it comes to choosing between whey or pea protein powders. Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference and overall diet. If you are making shakes with either pea or whey protein, you can absolutely add other nutrient-dense ingredients like vegetables and healthy nuts/seeds to boost the nutritional value. Plus, if you are using pea protein, it's especially helpful and important to incorporate sources of methionine such as nuts and seeds to ensure you're getting all necessary amino acids.
It largely depends on what the rest of your diet looks like! Taking a protein supplement could be appropriate for many different people, regardless of sensitivities (as long as the protein you choose doesn't contain any ingredients that you are sensitive to).
Yeah, I know Whey Protein is a better option, so we are told, I thought I had a cast iron stomach.. But whey protein isolate or concentrate seem to both mess my stomach up, " I tried different brands" I don't understand it because I have no problem with milk or lactose but absolutely no problems with Pea protein whatsoever
t's frustrating when a seemingly beneficial supplement like whey protein causes stomach issues despite no lactose intolerance. The distinction between whey protein isolate and concentrate might not be enough to alleviate your discomfort. Pea protein, on the other hand, seems to agree with your digestion better. It's great that you've found an alternative that works for you. Sometimes our bodies have unique sensitivities that aren't immediately apparent. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask!
You could try the hidrolized whey protein, people say that its flavor isn’t the best if you compare it to the pure isolate, or concentrate (I can’t corroborate as I’m lactose intolerant so I haven’t try the other options), but for me it was very gentle on my stomach and the taste wasn’t bad, just to sweet for my preference. I tried the Sascha fitness protein as I consider it to be one of the best options of the market (based on the list of ingredients and amino acids), it’s isolated and hidrolized, and also have digestive enzymes. I hope this can help you!!! :]
Regarding methionine (an essential amino acid), too much can cause neurotoxicity. So I think it’s important for people not to perceive more methionine as necessarily superior. The recommended upper limit is ~3.2g/day. Pea protein per serving: ~300mg methionine Whey protein isolate per serving: ~450mg methionine Recommended daily methionine intake is around 1 gram. Choosing whey vs pea protein should probably come down to you preference for dairy or dairy-free. And the concept of comparing superiority otherwise is probably a matter of bioavailability alone.
Hey very nice informative video!! Only suggestion the intro was super energetic, which is great. But it felt almost so over energetic that for a second I thought this was going to be a parody.😬😅😂 But I'm happy I didn't click away bc of it and waited a second. Nice content will definitely come by again if I need information aroud these topics!! Edit: After watching the beginning again I think it's also the whole "are you looking to..." thing. I think have just seen to many parody skids of all kinds of commercials that almost always start like that.😂
I swear after I drank a whey protein within two hours I would get extreme and sometimes painful very scary palpitations and arrythmias. I would go to the ER so much that they h8 me. One of the paramedics said " this seems to happen after you go running and workout" a💡 went off in my head....I always drank whey protein b4 work outs. My mom once bought me a plant based protein and I can't recall any issues... I just bought some more at Walmart. It's been years since I dared try a protein drink. Wish me luck I'm going to try some tomorrow.
It sounds like you're on a journey to find the perfect protein supplement for your needs. It's smart to explore various options like hemp and walnut protein while also noting what doesn't work, like soy protein. Each person's body responds differently, so it's all about finding what feels best for you. If you need further suggestions or assistance, don't hesitate to ask!
Why does everyone choose plant based for the environment and not for the animals? Trust me, do it for the animals and you will never go back. Do it for the environment and you will fail to stick to a plant based diet. Make ethics the reason for your choices.
I understand that finding the right supplements can be challenging, especially when faced with unwanted side effects like acne. If whey protein is causing issues for you, there are alternative protein sources available that may be better suited to your needs, such as plant-based proteins like pea protein or soy protein. Experimenting with different options could help you find a solution that works for you without exacerbating your acne.

What brand do you use? Also do you mix it with milk or water?
I'm pretty sure I just figured out whey protein causes acne for me. Time to try Pea protein

It probably has Inulin. It makes you gassy.
Did y try hydra whey? Its supposed to be way superior n easier to absorb

No need for a blender with pea protein as well.
Background music is too loud. Cannot hear properly.
I was half expecting you to skip the amino acid part as you looked to be selling Pea Protein, but thanks for not doing it ig
I try also hemp protein, walnut protein, but NEVER soy protein again.

Which one do you take? 😊
Most pea proteins i have seen have 2-3 time lower leucine in comparison to whey protein.
No they don't. Whey protein powder is 10% leucine, pea protein powder is 9%. They are so close it's not even worth worrying about.
That means they aren't as good at building muscle.
@@crand20033 You can supplement with additional leucine.

Perfect will have pea protein and continue eating eggs and get mythaianine
yes that's a great idea to ensure all necessary amino acids!
This unflavored has foaming more than a detergent 🤣
