My partner is an immigrant and the level of mis/disinformation is WILD. Coming from a deeply conservative state we get to hear a lot of feedback and strong opinions about this. Thanks for making a video about this.
What they do say
It’s the large number of different immigration groups that makes a nation truly diverse.
Indeed
Which is the force what makes the nation truly great and adaptive to all sorts of sociological global economic fluctuations. Imagine the United States without immigrants during World War II? During the initial rollout of NAFTA? During the silicone Valley tech boom? During the expansion of biotech industries throughout the world? Hell, just imagine America without Chinese restaurants, the best damn pizza in the world, all you can eat sushi buffets, the kolache Factory, cinco de mayo, st Patrick’s day, Chicano culture, rap and hip-hop and country and bluegrass music. Everything we’ve absorbed, assimilated, improved, and embraced is almost entirely immigrant influenced. What a shame that some want to stifle and restrict the very diversity which makes every American human a better, more enriched person.
The regressive right wants to usa to fall, it would stagnate incredibly without immigration

Mr. Beat would you consider doing a mini biography video on William Goebel? He’s the only American governor to ever be assassinated in office, and his story is very interesting. He fought and won a duel against a former Confederate soldier over road tolls, initially lost his election, got the results overturned, was shot the day before his inauguration, almost caused a civil war in Kentucky, and then died a few days later.

I also like the story of Jim Leavelle, who was escorting Lee Harvey Oswald in the Dallas Police Headquarters when he got shot by Jack Ruby, Jim has many interesting tales although most of them aren't political. Like for example he was almost fatally hit by a rogue wave in pearl harbor, he accidentally shot a guy named Bob Portner while showing how L.C Graves tried to grab Jack Ruby's gun, he lost an eye, etc etc. And the man lived to 100. But he isn't anything to make an entire video about I guess, William Goebel is, though

Great video as usual Mr Beat!
As an Irish man, I just wanted to talk about something you said about Ireland in the video. 🇮🇪
The Great Famine took place between 1845-1852. Before this event the population of Ireland was around 8.5 million. The Famine took the lives of 1 million while another 1 million emigrated creating what we now call the Irish Diaspora which is estimated to be about 80 million people today, including 33 million in the US alone!
Sustained emigration took place all the way up until around the 1960s when our population hit its lowest point of around 2.5 - 3 million. That’s right, our population had more than halved since the Famine.
It was only in the 1960s and 1970s that Ireland began to see significant economic changes and growth and with it came a boost in population.
Today, our population sits at around 5.2 million. This number shows the effect the Great Famine had on our country. We still haven’t recovered in population since and it was 172 years ago.
It’s also worth noting that many in Ireland (including myself admittedly) believe that there wasn’t a Famine in Ireland in 1845 as much as there was an attempted genocide committed by the British Empire.
It’s believed there was more than enough food in the country at the time but it was being shipped out to feed people elsewhere. Many believe it was at the time, one of the largest man-made famines of all time. This however, is a debate for another time…
Thank you for all the great videos Mr Beat, I’m a an avid subscriber all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪
Keep them coming!
He's a silly liberal, America has over 340 million people in 2024 and that isn't even counting the illegals and we have millions. Just to give you an idea, we had about 282 million people in 2000. We have added about 60 million people in less than 25 years. Liberals like him, I wonder what is the cut off, 800 million or a billion people? Parts of America are already having water and housing shortages.
Came the United States back in 2012 as a 13 year old through the diversity Visa lottery system, came here with my whole family, will be starting medical school as a military 2nd lieutenant this July and sister is in dental school. It would be inspirational if it was true lol Germany and Turkey have many immigrant populations who are viewed as fully German/Turkish today
Reagan was right about immigration.
Although I understand the main message that quote is trying to convey, some claims in the quote are not true. For example in Germany, "Being German" doesn't specifically have anything to do with race. Cem Özdemir, who is the current agriculture minister of Germany, is of Turkish descent, he is the children of immigrants but he is still considered to be German and he identifies as a German. Similarly in Turkey, there are many people who are of Kurdish, Circassian ethnicity who consider themselves to be Turkish and they are regarded as Turkish by law.

Sorry for your loss
Our immigration issues are a direct result of our own foreign policies.
An alarming segment of our populace does not have any concept of consequences even on a personal level, let alone a national one. Flexing your geopolitical muscle by meddling in the affairs of less-powerful nations, will come back to haunt you.
It's messy and unfortunate, but I think the least we can do (other than voting) is just being kind to people and acknowledging their struggles. This country would not exist without immigrants, and our continued economic success relies on immigration.
Super true. The United States, its government agencies, and corporations have meddled in the political and economic affairs of countries in South and Central America. Crazy to think that many Americans now don’t know this.
I disagree more than agree. It is most apparently true in certain Latin American cases, but in general I think the narrative of the US "meddling in the affairs of less-powerful nations" is too often used to deprive those countries agency and responsibility over their own issues. It is too easy to scapegoat the big countries like the US, Russia, China etc.
@enduser8410 many of these countries sucked and were ruled by white minorities before the US even existed. The Spanish empire fan boys brag about it all the time
Yes, What you said was EXTREMELY true, its only consequence of Extreme western imperial colonialism, antone disagreeing needs to learn history of the West.
@@kat1284 Its very strange (actually its not), that the countries whose image is always Declaring FREEDOM and Democracy and liberty, is extremely in love with dictatorships.
Just not in their own countries...
They love installing it in SO MANY other countries, and not just that its not even a 2 birds 1 stone, but 5 birds with 1 stone, such as they get to claim moral uprighteousness and condescend everyone else not a democracy after they installed dictatorships, so they can do repeated intervwntions in said countries to "bring democracy".
Man I love your content so much Mr.Beat! I loved history class when I was in High School and briefly when I attended some college terms. You are doing a great job educating others
I really appreciate all you do!! Most people either are not taught or just never understood a lot of the things you talk about.
You should talk about documented dreamers. These are the children of legal immigrants who come to the US as young children, apply for permanent residency legally as children, but due to the backlogs caused by per country caps(specifically for Asian countries, primarily India and China), they turn 21 before they receive it and are no longer allowed to be in the US since they lose their status since they are no longer considered children under immigration law, thus they have deport themselves despite growing up here legally and following all the laws regarding applying for permanent residency
That deserves an entire video
That's messed up.
That's what people don't get about the immigration system. You will see comments everywhere talking about 'Oh, why don't she/he just apply?'. LOL. If it's that simple.
It seems the real problem is why the entire family isn't accepted for legal immigration all at once in the first place. If they have to wait a few extra years to clear some backlogs, that's better than only granting legal immigration status partially among families.
America can't keep taking in so many people, it's just common sense, we have added almost 60 million people since 2000 and we have a declining middle class. Do liberals want to see the country collapse?

This was such a cool video! My Dad’s patrilineal line came to the US in the 1860s from Cornwall to work in the mines of Nevada and Montana, while his Matrilineal line came from Germany in the 1890s. Mom’s patrilineal line came to the US in the 1920s from England, while her matrilineal line came in the 1880s from Ireland (there’s more than that on both sides of my tree but I’m keeping it simple haha.) Always find videos about this topic interesting! Great video! =)

@@iammrbeat it is very fascinating, yeah! I got interested in it around the time of my 15th birthday in 2016 and 8 years later it’s taken over my life haha. Generally speaking I’m of English, German, French, Irish, Scottish, and Dutch descent, but there’s also Austrian, Danish, and Welsh (there’s French-Canadian and Swiss-German but I just group those with French and German respectively). Immigrated to places like New England, Missouri, Kansas, and Virginia to eventually end up in the far west. Wish I had more friends that were into this stuff. And you’re welcome! Always a good day when you upload!
@@stardust86x that’s pretty cool! : D. My family history here fluctuates back and forth, sometimes depending on the line. Despite my Dad’s Matrilineal line coming in the 1890s from Germany, my 2nd great grandfather on my paternal grandma’s line, Friedrich, married a French woman (which, heh, I have to wonder the rate at which that occurred back in that time frame considering the rivalry). My paternal great grandmother through my paternal grandfather had ancestors from Prussia, even from the parts of Prussia that are now Polish. They were Mennonites and originally moved to a colony in Ukraine for a while before coming to Kansas. When they made their way to California in the 1910s they took up ranching.
As for my Mom’s side, my Great Grandfather on my Mom’s patrilineal line served in the First World War and Russian Civil War in the British army. He came to Ellis Island in November 1921 and made his way to Texas where he met my Great Grandmother. On my Mom’s matrilineal end, my maternal grandmother’s patrilineal end is almost impossible to research but that end came from County Galway, Ireland in the 1880s. Always really enjoy hearing other people’s family histories, always interesting factoids to be heard from them.

My family came to America in 1749 at the port of Philadelphia. They were born in France but then driven out along with others for being Huguenots. They were chased out of France to Germany and then the same ancestors took passage from Germany to America. All that religious persecution just for their 9th great grandson to be an internet atheist, sorry fam.
That would just happy you get to have religious liberty to be an Atheist.
My ancestors (well, some of them) were also Huguenots fleeing France. Mine were clearly less adventurous though, they only made it across the channel to Britain, where I live now.
All ends the same, I'm an internet atheist too!
The point of freedom of religion is about choice. You freely chose to be an atheists. I think your forefathers and foremothers would be proud.
@@kingace6186 I actually don't think so - they didn't flee because they wanted religious freedom, they fled because they didn't want to be killed for being protestants. They wanted everyone to be protestant, and had spent the previous decades in France trying to kill catholics and force them to be protestant, they just lost that struggle. They would probably consider me to be worse than a catholic (the people they had been trying to kill). I don't care what other people worship, but they certainly did.
Religious oppression makes atheists
Wait, for the UAE and Saudi Arabian having a higher immigration rate/% of immigrants rate, is this including migrant labor under temporary contracts?
From my understanding several of the countries you cited have high rates of migrant labor that is contractually time bound based upon the projects they are working on. It probably would be incredibly hard to section that out based upon publicly available data, but it's also not generally what we would call immigration. Of course that might be accounted for already, but I couldn't find much specifics quickly through googling. Do you know if your numbers included this or excluded this?
I think this is a very informative video, however I feel like you could've elaborated a bit more on why so many immigrants from South & Central America are currently coming to the US. I know it's a larger topic that would probably require a video of it's own, but I think it's important context. The US paints it as bad that they're coming here, but never discuss how the economic problems that many of these countries face are the direct result of US (or rather CIA) meddling throughout the 20th century.
The minute the United States stopped meddling in El Salvador, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Nicaragua immigrants stopped coming as much. That should tell you everything. Most immigrants from Latin America today are from Venezuela, which is under a U.S. blockade. Yes the Maduro regime has to take a lot of the blame but the United States is not helping things
Not defending what the American government has done in those countries, but we didn't do it as citizens, and we can't keep taking people in. It's common sense, we need many things fixed before we accept new people.
@EddieHenderson92 "we need many things fixed" which would require tax dollars which having more people would provide 🤔. Not saying you're one of these people, but the same people who say "no one wants to work anymore" are the same that want to deny immigrants (people coming here willing to work).

The new roommates lower wages for the least skilled jobs and in an increasing number of states are eligible for taxpayer benefits.

I'm not sure how many more better help sponsorship reads our parasocial relationship can take Mr Beat
Great video! Do you think you'll ever make another video on logical fallacies?
Do you want me to? I could I guess
@@iammrbeat Yes please!! I really loved the way you dissected Joe and Ben's conversation. It was truly the perfect blend of entertaining and informational. High key, I rewatch that video every few months because I found it so entertaining and to refresh myself on few logical fallacies.
Very well done!
Hey Mr beast also thank for including Nogales. That’s where my family was from.
Yay new video
Thanks for being here early.
My partner comes from a foreign nation and we have been very worried with the rise of nativist rhetoric in the United States. She hasn’t immigrated yet but we worry if a certain President wins this November, that it may become even more difficult for her to come. I hope to god things get better
America has added almost 60 million people in less than 25 years, what is the cut off number? wait until we hit a billion, we are running out of food, water, housing and so on? By the way, that is happening in certain parts of the country right now.
@@EddieHenderson92 Don't forget that millions of people have died in America in the last 25 years and most Baby Boomers will be dead in the next 20-25 years due to old age. That will free up a lot of space, especially as they had fewer children (and Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z had/are having even fewer children). Right now America, like most first world countries, has an aging population. That's why we need immigration. The working age population is proportionately smaller than it was decades ago
America is a long way from being overpopulated or even densely populated. Even if the population literally doubled next week.
@@BlossomField91 That is false, we don't need more immigration at this time.
@@BlossomField91 That is false, we don't need more people.
@@BlossomField91 You're incorrect, America needs many things but adding more people is not one of them.
Thank you for making this video
Thanks for watching!
Thank you mr beat
I'm a child of immigrants. Both of them love this country very much. They aren't drug smugglers, terrorists, or invaders. They aren't 'corrupting the blood of the country.' They pay their taxes, work hard, and learned English. Thank you Mr. Beat for covering this in a responsible manner.
Nobody is saying all immigrants are drug dealers. The thing is though, some of them are. America 100 percent supports legal immigration, but it’s illegal immigration that is a danger to our country. People could have unknown criminal history, be wanted by the law, or smuggling drugs. Like I said, I know all illegal immigrant aren’t dangerous people, but some are.
Those are people nobody has a problem with. It's the people that are that are the problem. They do exist, and it's even worse in Europe. It's not failed integration because every country has the same problem.
Illegal immigrants are trespassers. Trespassing shouldn’t be allowed.
Legal immigrants should be allowed.
@@caryptic6684it'd be a lot simpler if the process wasn't so incredibly long. It took a decade for me to get approved, my own aunt's parents passed before they got theirs. All that time and money for nothing
@@caryptic6684They werent saying that same thing when it was only immigrants from "lowly" Europe, seeing as how uneducated the populace was much moreso back then, or were they? Regardless, they all still came and immigrants made things better. Thus, immigrants are to be allowed.
Do a vid on the Palestinian Genocide bro🙏🏽
Here in Missouri I’ve started seeing billboards for one candidate for Governor that have the tagline “Secure the Border.” You want to be Governor of _Missouri._ Secure the border from who? Illegal Kansans? Iowans? It’s so stupid
Great video as always
Thank you!
What is your position on tiny aliens being stuck in our microwave ovens. I asked Mr. Vermin Supreme this question and i would like to know your stance. Many Thanks
Great video! I used to teach citizenship classes to immigrants prior to the pandemic and my wife is an immigrant from Siberia. I can attest to how difficult, time-consuming, and expensive trying to immigrate to this country legally can be even under the best circumstances, especially if citizenship is the end goal. The vast majority of my own ancestors arrived prior to the Civil War, with some arriving as far back as 1635 Jamestown, so most of them arrived before well the increasingly strict national immigration restrictions began to materialize at the end of the 19th century.
I was just watching your failed presidential candidates tier list and I saw that one of the super chats brought up the 1876 South Carolina gubernatorial election and as a South Carolinian, that would be such a cool video to see! Especially in the upstate, there’s a lot of Wade Hampton related stuff, including a high school and a major highway.
Recommended listening for the younger crowd who may have never heard it - "America" by Neil Diamond.
"American Nativism" is one of the greatest antitheses I have ever heard
I'm an immigrant and I use your channel to familiarize myself on American history which I find so interesting. heck it would also help me pass that civic test required to get citizenship.
Superb man!!
@Mr. Beat pls delete the sponsor part of this video, the thing your sponsoring is terrible, that program has fake and unprofessional “therapists” working in that field, please watch videos about this sponsor if you don’t understand me
Bot
We have a decent amount of immigrants where I live (23% of population) and they’re pretty cool. My father owns a small business and we’ve had a lot of growth due to them.
And you can rarely tell that their kids had parents who were immigrants unless you met their parents.
@@iammrbeatI’m young so a lot of the kids in my classes are children of immigrants and I believe they are just as American as the rest of us. I see fears arise about immigrants but many of those fears come from folks that don’t know many. They are not some scary boogeymen just ordinary citizens like you and I.
I'm an Indian immigrant in Finland and I can see why homogeneous societies are the happiest. Immigration is a bet negative and diversity causes more harm than good.
LOL
Great video, awesome shirt! You get it at Dan Flashes?
Beautiful video mr beat
Tsk tsk, I know you’re a good researcher but research about the sponsor before blindly doing it.
2:28 The U.S. Border Patrol will be 100 years old tomorrow.
Great shirt, Mr. Beat.
great topic too!
I’m not an immigrant, but I am the child of immigrants. Both of my parents are undocumented. That being said, I would argue that my parents are just as if not more American than I am. They choose to stay here, contribute to the economy, pay taxes, and overall live an American style of life. Without them, I would be nothing. I’m so grateful for my parents, they worked extremely hard so that I can have a typical American upbringing. Tee ball, prom, college, and even getting married. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of that without my parents sacrificing their time and energy working so that I could enjoy the fruits of their labor. Gracias mama y papa.
Cool. Your parents probably took jobs for lower pay than what an American would take.
I hope they're proud of you
Nice! You shouldn’t be punished for your parents’ actions but they should be deported.
@@citrused8571 Thanks! You’re wrong though, they should be made into citizens. They have for sure been in this country longer than you have been alive, hence they have definitely contributed more to the economy than you have (in your entire life). There should be an easier path to citizenship for people who arrived here legally but have a 100% clean record, which both my parents have btw.
@@TehGalvanatorWell, they broke the law by entering illegally, it should be hard to get into our great country. They shouldn't be citizens, so their record isn't clean anymore!
It is so sad that he's now accepted a sponsorship from better help. Of all the TH-camrs I watch, I expected him to be better. So sad.
If he searches up about why its bad and apologizes for taking a sponsorship from them then maybe when can forgive him.
The next mr beat banger dropped LETS GOO
Thanks for being here early to watch. :)
I haven’t finished the video, but I think there’s another term that should be explored:
*Expatriate* : (v, transitive) to banish; to exile; to withdraw (oneself) from residence in or allegiance to one's native country.
(v, intransitive) to leave one's native country to live elsewhere; to renounce allegiance to one's native country.
(n) a person who lives in a foreign country.
(adj) living in a foreign land.
Src: Merriam-Webster
I hear this term often used to refer to the immigrants in the UAE & Qatar
They are still immigrants. If you are willing to move to a country and live there for a considerable amount of time, you are inevitably showing allegiance. Often expatriates show much more allegiance than citizens do.
I get out immigration system isn’t perfect but I truly believe our politicians and media overhype it and scapegoat our immigrants. Many of my friends are immigrants and undocumented and they are the nicest people I’ve ever met ❤
Yup, anything bad happens in the country politicians are ready to blame it on Latinos.
Being nice has nothing to do with it, we have added about 60 million people since 2000 and that is a problem. We have to stop adding people until we fix many other problems, we have 340 million people not counting the millions of illegals, we have a declining middle class and citizens that need help. It's just common sense and the left has lost that for whatever reason when it comes to this issue.
0:05 thanks for the Family Guy clip, even if Herbert can be unlikable. Of course immigration can help those who are willing to experience something new. Gives me vibes of An American Tail.
Oh man, I totally forgot about that movie!
@@iammrbeat the 1986 movie by Don Bluth as it also involves immigration.
