  • Don't have a way to hold your tap in your milling machine? Make a simple adapter thing! In this video, I used an R8 1-1/4 end mill holder and made a little sleeve doohickey that receives the tap. Two flats drive the square head of the tap. It's really pretty simple.

    Happy days buddy, just subbed, we both appear to share a passion, and necessity for making what we need

    I like how you did the whole thing in the mill. I d have started with a lathe then busted out the collet blocks and made a whole ordeal of it, you did quick, simple and in very few steps.
    Great video bud. New subscriber here

    Glad it worked out! For future reference Morse taper tap driving collets are usually available pretty affordable on eBay if you watch for them

    I really like your program you don't seem like all of your machines are new and you seem to be down to earth. This program makes really good sense.

      Thanks! Right now, we're just trying to hide from the heat. I need a bigger air conditioner in the garage!

    Great project. I think you're making the best use of your lathe too. 😁 I think I might use this for myself. Thanks for the video!

    You can speed up your rough out and not load up the cutter by too deep a passing cut just by plunge cutting except for the finish passes to final dimension.

    Could you go over your hydraulic power pack, I would like to make one 110v but not sure on pump sizing?

    • @WideVisionMetalFab
      @WideVisionMetalFab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a fairly involved topic. Pump size depends on your needs. For a press, low flow, like 1 gpm is better for control, so a 1.5 hp motor would be a good match. With 110V, you're limited to 2hp motor, so the options for GPM are limited. The SurplusCenter has a hydraulic calculator under their "Tech Help" tab on their website. It's then under "pump disp. HP GPM RPM" It's great for figuring out how many HP you need or the displacement of the pump to get the needed GPM. My current hydraulic unit is a 3/4 hp motor and about 3/4 gpm pump. I'm building one that uses a variable displacement pump, so if I can get that thing done, there will be a video about it with a lot more information.

      @@WideVisionMetalFab thanks for the info, I got an extra 1hp laying around I’m gonna try using, I look forward to see a video of your pump build!

    Hey handsome, you said you had those pipe squishers for sale. You should keep that on every video I looked around on your page and can't find it can you set a link out?

      I'm trying to get links posted for several products. In the meantime, emailing me is the easiest way to get information.

    Good Morning
    I work with machine projects here in Brazil
    work with projects of medium and large size special hydraulic presses
    I would like to open a business in another country to sell, design and manufacture special machines
    What do you advise me?

    Your driving just off of that set screw?

    • @WideVisionMetalFab
      @WideVisionMetalFab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically. The second screw is touching the flat on the tap, but I doubt it's doing much driving.

    Content very good, content frequency very poor. You need to decide whether you want to be a youtube content producer or not.
