  • A land drag I built to sell needed a lift mechanism, so I decided to put a window regulator motor on a trailer jack and make my own linear actuator. This meant some time milling on the old Atlas lathe.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to do thing more than once to get it right.

    Nice to see work done using the lantern post and milling attachment. Just got an Atlas TH42 and good to know I can use the stock attachments.

    I consider you idea very worthed all that work, but at least from my perspective I found a bit iffy the fact that you will early or lathe have to fact that the plastic gear will give the ghost !! never the less, really nice video, specially the fact that you mill that part with out a dividing table.. really good work my friend

      Thanks! This was my 3rd most viewed video. How to make a saddle cut with a bandsaw, trailer hinge modification, then this one. And this video hadn't been posted near as long as the other 2, so I guess that means really people want to see some milling on an atlas lathe action! :)

    Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately the part that I most wanted to see is the part that you fast forwarded through. I need to know how to set up the m0illing attachment.

    CL seller still has mine. Can't wait to play with it. Is it me or do these Craftsman/Atlas lathes seem a bit cheaply made or under powered? Beginning to get concerned the lathe won't be what I expected.

    Nice adaptation.....is it still holding up.....seemed to strain on extension....thanks for sharing.

      I used it until recently. It was problem free, but it was just too slow so I replaced it with a cheap winch. I'm currently building a chain drive linear motion device for it, but who knows when I'll get that project done!

      One is deeper which I sometimes need for bigger shafts. Grandpa bought the lathe new as a package deal, and I'm discovering lately that some of the accessories he got are rare.

      Billy T I'm a bit confused...are you asking about the end mill holder? It's just a MT3 end mill holder. The lathe doesn't accept collets.

    • @TheIntermont
      @TheIntermont 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wide Vision Metal Fab You'll find that mt3 collets are commonly available. Try Victor machinery.
