    I'm still convincing myself that voice overs are a good format, part of me wonders if I just make silent videos with minimal talking. Let me know what you think ⬇

      Works well for other creators. I think you should stick with it!

      Voice over works very well. Just continue like this.

      keep the voice overs, the commentary is brill

      I think there’s a happy medium. I don’t think you need to explain every operation (if you’re drinking a hole, I can tell you’re drilling a hole without the voiceover, at least most of the time 😂). But for things that might not be intuitive, obvious, or for tips and tricks or explaining why you decided to do it this way rather than that way, it’s nice.

    I really like the choice of threading options given by the removable key. Great feature! For me I'd say keep the voice over. I like hearing the reasons behind the design choices. If folks want a silent film they can always mute the sound or have another music video running in the background.

      Thanks, yeah I'll keep doing it

    love it. It reminds me of the old videos. Just the right length, and right to the point .

      Thanks! It's how I like to make them too
      Otherwise I get bored watching my own video while editing ha ha

    Made one years ago, only hand held type. I sure like the keyway, thinking about making a new one.

    Great build, like the external grip slots 👌.
    Drunk thread is the term, when its on the squiffy.

    Very nice! The amount of machinery requires to make this little thing is 🤯

    • @TomMakeHere
      @TomMakeHere  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah It could be much simpler than this, I chose to make it this way. Realistically 90% is lathe work and you could get away with a single slot and a guide pin
      I just designed it this way because I wanted an excuse to try the slotter lol

    Really nice thread guide I do like the removable dog. So well done. Voice over to me is way to go with shop sounds thank God you don't play the stupid music like some guys think they need to have! Keeping it simple to the point and direct is the best way why waste people's time with garbage. Nice video well done Columbus Michigan

    Bad threads from dies held against the nose of my tailstock spindle is how I learned that said tailstock is in bad shape geometrically. Nice job here though. EDM is an option for the keyway too, if you know someone with the machine.

    • @TomMakeHere
      @TomMakeHere  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I tried that approach too, but I've never had lot of luck
      Yep, EDM is a fairly niche tool, but would work too. It would be nice to have one sometimes ha ha

    Hey wait, are you and Matty sharing content creation ideas. That's the second tailstock die holder video in one morning. I enjoyed watching the slotting head at work. Mine is still waiting for its big debut.

    • @TomMakeHere
      @TomMakeHere  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha nope, just a fluke. I also released the same project, same day as Blondihacks a couple of years ago
      Slotting head is useful, but yeah a fair bit of setting up and aligning which I didn't really show

    You could have just kept the 6mm deep slot in the tail stock piece, then drilled/tapped a hole in the die holder to use a bolt as your key. I like the idea of having it free spinning as well for the small threads.
    I also say keep the voice overs, I like to hear the thought process behind it along with the occasional smartass remark. Very well done, and I like the "groovy" look on the die holder.

    • @TomMakeHere
      @TomMakeHere  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yeah you are right, I could have done that approach to remedy the key, and that would also allow the threaded pin to be unscrewed and retracted for the free spinning mode

    Nice work on the die holder Tom. Once you start using it you will wonder why you did not make one years ago.
    The die holder was my first TH-cam video. Looking back at it makes me cringe...

      You should hear me trying to do my voiceover, it takes me a long time to get a coherent sentence, a single wrong word I can live with lol
