Not relying on OA sensors is some really good advice. I've only been flying for 10 days but it seems like the sides are the most vulnerable to Obstacle Avoidance failure. Most of the active tracking modes are all about flying parallel or in circles. This makes active tracking inherently dangerous. Get used to the location of the red stop button on screen when tracking, and be ready to hit it in case of emergency. Once you press the red stop button, push the tiny green X at the top left of the subject scanner to cancel your current subject and resume normal flight controls.
Yes the sideway sensors are the ones with the highest failure tolerance. When switching to vision assist you then also know why. The picture is build by the front and the rear sensors at the lowest visual quality. It drone is basically not able to see branches and even obstacles with less contrast will be fly killers. From my point of view DJI could have done more from the mini 3 pro to the mini 4 pro. Nevertheless active track is lots of fun but you should avoid flying in the woods. 😃
Great video thank you! Just got a mini 4 pro and its fantastic! Did a test yesterday in some wooded area with lots of trees, bushes and twigs and some tight spaces and it handled it with no problems!! Do you know if active track works indoors please? Not had a chance to try it yet!
Sorry for my late response. Congratz for Your Mini 4 Pro. Good decision. Honestly I wouldn't fly it indoor. The sensors will work and detect walls etc. But I cannot guarantee you that everything is working 'right'.
Hey nicely explained the AT function 👏I've a question - If I am doing AT function while bike riding ..what will be the RTH ? Will it be the base location from where the drone takes off ?? Because while riding I may have come 600-700 mtrs ahead ...so in that case is manually bringing the drone down is the only option ? Please answer
You are fully right. As lojng as you don not reset the Home Point, it will go back to the location you have launched it. However you can reset the Home Point at any time and over riode it with the a later position. Better is, to not use the track mode until the batts run out of juice. :)
Very helpful and informative. I like how you post videos in english even though you are native german :) Just one question, what specifically are you referring to in your thumbnail ("Don't do this!")? Also, how did you get the cool cars for this?
Thanks mate. Really appreciate it. The "don't do" refers to active track a car through a forest as the sensors are not really made for leaves and branches. 😉 About the cars: I am travelling a lot. Check out my latest video of Spain, there you find one of the cars. Others are from furthers travels. 😉😀
Thanks for this helpfull video. Ordered a Mini 4 pro yesterday and going to use it to create footage for private use using the active track function while carp fishing playing the fish from a zodiac. It will be my first drone so have to learn a lot but it looks like the Mini 4 pro has a lot o basic features which make it easy to use for a drone noob🙈, at least i hope so.
Yes definetly! The Hover X1 do not have any kind of sensors, cannot move around you while following and so on. The Hover X1 is really a great drone but not a competitor yet!
Mini 4 pro is about 3 times the price. But 10 time better in every way the mini 4 pro can stand strong against drones that cost more than two times the price. DJI hit it clean out of the park with this drone this drone at this time is the only drone on the market with active track 360. no drone has that type of tracking capability.
I fully agree with you. Nevertheless the 360 isn't as good as they sell it to us. As said multiple times in the video, pilots should not rely 100% on that. @@michaeldanforth3059

2 questions: when I select a subject on the screen, my only option is "Parallel" and the circle on the left does not appear. Any suggestions?; also, I have an old GoPro Karma drone which follows the controller. Does the mini 4 pro have the option of just following the controller? It would help the problem of the drone confusing trees for subjects. The GoPro technology is from 2017, so I'm sure it's easy to do now in 2024.
Maybe. On the other hand if you fly it in sports mode it quite fast. For any more speed higher then 50km/h I think FPV is the better way to go. @@SephoraBloons
I tried it out today and it tried to kill itself, I had to stop it before it went between a bunch of trees on a cliff. I tried to bring it back but it wasn't being responsive, I got it low enough to grab it and it didn't like it at all, I had to pull the battery out because it tried to get away. I need to try this in an open field
Wow, that sounds weird and not like a regular behaviour. But you are fully right. Always try new functions that are not used to it on an open field without any ppl around.
