    Very informative video. But how can I make the insertions appear in the list in the order they were added? The last one added is at the very end. The first insertion is the first one in the list.

    Great Video! Where can I set a sound when copying and pasting in the current version? This apparently worked in an earlier version.

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmmm, I've never noticed. I assume it would use the default Windows sounds; so if you can configure Windows itself to play a sound on copy/paste, then Ditto would respect it. I _think_ the copy/paste sounds are controlled by your Windows theme, so if you changed themes that may be why it stopped working.
      An alternate approach would be to add a "On Copy Script" and "On Paste Script" in Ditto to play a sound. You can find those settings in Ditto -> Options... -> Advanced -> On Copy Scripts / On Paste Scripts.
      You could also try opening a feature request issue in the GitHub repository at github.com/sabrogden/Ditto/wiki.

    Daniel, thanks for a great video! I learned something that I didn't know, very nice features!
    One question, how do you search in Ditto for partial words in the sentence or maybe using "regex" or "contains text" options if I don't remember the order of the words?

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought partial text search was enabled by default, but maybe not. To set the search setting, click on the "..." on the main Ditto window and choose Search Options, and then choose between "Contains Text Search", "Wildcard Search", and "Regular Expression Search". I've always just used the "Contains Text Search" option so, for example, if you search for "xam" it will match "example".

    Hi! I really appreciate you took time to explain all these features! Usually, I jump every minute of the videos, but I saw it till the end!! 👏🏼 I was wondering if is it possible to configure a combination with a WORD as a global hotkey, something like "ctrl + survey". Do you know something about that?

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the closest thing that Ditto has is the Quick Paste Text that I talk about in the video at the 11:25 mark.
      It sounds though that you might want to use AutoHotkey and its Hotstrings. Basically you install AutoHotkey, create a text file called Test.ahk with the contents "::btw::by the way", double click the file to run it, and then any time you type "btw" in any application, it will expand it to "by the way". You can read the docs at docs at www.autohotkey.com/docs/v1/Hotstrings.htm.

    Do you know anyway to automatically put specific kinds of copied media in specific groups? Like I have text, screenshots, and mp3s all listed as different copy formats, but it doesn't seem that there is a way to change the copy format of groups so they automatically get filtered.
    I also wonder if there is a way to paste from specific Groups as well.

    Hello Daniel. Thank you so much for the nice presentation of all these features.
    I was looking for a "Capture text on select" feature, just like happening in all Unix systems.
    Is there a chance you have a trick for something like that?
    Thank you very much!

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words Apostolos. I took a look in the Ditto options, as well as Googled for any other tools, but I was not able to find any tools that offer that functionality. That doesn't mean they don't exist; I just don't know about them and wasn't able to find one in my brief search.
      One option you have is to use AutoHotkey (www.autohotkey.com) to create that functionality yourself. This thread shows how to capture selected text from any app and save it to the clipboard (www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=98755). You would just want to have that happen on the mouse left-button up event instead of the F3 key press that they use.

      @@deadlydog Thanks a lot for the reply. I really appreciate it. I will give a shot with the autohotkey as you suggest.

    ditto can't paste multiple images somehow. I'm using the alternative, clip angle, which you recommended.

  • @tjboulet4448
    @tjboulet4448 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I understand correctly, there isn't an export function to move my clips, I have to do this sharing with machines on the same wifi net work process instead. Is that correct?

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it's a one-time thing, Ditto does have import/export clip functionality that you can use to move clips across machines. Just use Ctrl+A to select all of the clips, right-click on a clip and choose Import/Export -> Export Clips to save the clips to a file. Copy that file to your other machine and use the Import/Export -> Import Clips to import that file on the other machine.

    Can the text be pasted in color?
    for ex I copied code from VS Code then I wanted to paste it in Anki in color.
    Is that possible?

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Ditto works exactly like the Windows clipboard by default, so it copies and pastes the text formatting as well. If you copy red Sans Serif text with a black background in VS Code, it will paste red Sans Serif text with a black background, if the app supports it (e.g. pasting into MS Word would keep the formatting, pasting into Notepad would not since Notepad does not support text and background colors).
      If you're talking about adding color when pasting though (e.g. you copied black text and want to paste it as pink), that is not supported out of the box. You could likely achieve it though by using the "On Paste Scripts" in the Ditto Options -> General tab -> Advanced button -> On Paste Scripts button. It would require you to write the script to change the text to pink though. I hope this helps.

      I show how to set the keyboard shortcut for Ditto in my previous video: th-cam.com/video/bBvKvJfWw2c/w-d-xo.html . Basically just go to the Ditto Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts tab -> then in the Activate Ditto textbox press z and then check the "Win" checkbox.

    Hy Daniel, How to set a keyboard shortcut to paste directly an image from the clipboard without open the clipboard window?
    because with keyboard shortcut It pastes text only and does not paste images from the clipboard
    unless I open the clipboard window and click on the image that I want to paste. Please help! Thanks in advance.

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd, I haven't run into that issue. My only guess is that you've accidentally overridden the regular Paste keyboard shortcut with the "Text Only Paste" keyboard shortcut. You can confirm this by going into the Ditto Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts tab -> and seeing what keyboard shortcut is assigned to the "Text Only Paste" command, if any. The other thing is, make sure the application that you are pasting into supports images. For example, if you're trying to paste an image into Notepad, that is never going to work because Notepad does not support images. I hope this helps.

    Thank you for this video
    i just wanna ask you, if there an option that will make the older pasts on top and the new ones under it ?
    i mean making my past in a descending order, bcs it's confusing for me

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not that I'm aware of. Ditto will always paste the clip that is on the top of the list, which is why it lists them from newest to oldest; so the newest text you've copied will be at the top.

    Is it able to paste with keeping the formatting
    I mean when copying a highlighted sentence could it paste it as it is?

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does keep the formatting by default. It will depend on the application that you paste the text into though. If you paste into Notepad it won't keep the formatting because the app does not support formatting. If you paste into an app like Microsoft Word though, then it should retain the formatting. Ditto provides a separate hotkey for pasting as plain text, which I show in this other video: th-cam.com/video/bBvKvJfWw2c/w-d-xo.html

    Is there any way in ditto that we can paste text in original formatting (with bullet points or line by line) ?
    Original Sentence in Pdf
    -----------------------------------------
    Various issues concerning Governor’s role
    • Pending decisions: Delays in assent to legislations and crucial appointments leads to a constitutional deadlock and disrupts parliamentary democracy
    (One header.......Various issues & Bullet point Pending decisions.........)
    ------------------------------------------
    Normal Paste gives......
    Various issues concerning Governor’s role
    • Pending decisions: Delays in assent to legislations and crucial appointments leads to a constitutional deadlock and < >
    disrupts parliamentary democracy
    (Sentence breaks after word "deadlock and".......and "disrupts parliamentary democracy" starts in new line. Bcoz original sentence also breaks from THAT POINT IN PDF FILE.)
    Paste remove line feeds command gives...
    Various issues concerning Governor’s role • Pending decisions: Delays in assent to legislations and crucial appointments leads to a constitutional deadlock and disrupts parliamentary democracy
    (Here bullet point merged and shows header and point in one single sentence)
    I want to preserve original formatting from PDF but bullet point line should accomodate to space where i am pasting text.

    • @deadlydog
      @deadlydog  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By default Ditto will keep the original formatting, unless you start changing the default settings as you mentioned. I don't think there's much you can do for your example since the line break is included in the original PDF text; that is, the PDF contents actually have a line break defined there, so it gets copied with the rest of the text. I think that's just a reality for PDF files, since they're designed to always look exactly the same no matter what device they are opened on.
