This is the longplay of the game Super Castlevania IV, an action game and platform exclusive to the Super Nintendo and developed and published by Konami in Japan and North America in 1991, and in Europe in 1992.
Super Castlevania IV basically shares the same story as the original Castlevania. In Transylvania, there is a legend that with each century the forces of good lose power as the forces of evil manifest in the form of monsters, with the most terrifying being the vampire Dracula. The Belmont clan has always been there to deal with this threat, passing their knowledge of vampire hunters through the generations. Now, a group of people influenced by evil performed a ritual that resulted in the resurrection of Dracula, the Prince of Darkness. Simon Belmont must once again wield his legendary whip, the Vampire Killer, and his family's techniques to eliminate him.
The story of Super Castlevania IV is a re-enactment of Simon Belmont in the series, originally made in Castlevania on the NES. Despite being a remake of the original, it has very different and innovative levels, some featuring areas outside the castle, 16-bit SNES Mode 7 graphics, and a soundtrack consisting mainly of new music, but also including several remixes of previous songs in the series.
The gameplay of the game also received several innovations, with the possibility of Simon attacking with the whip in 8 directions. In addition to being an attacking weapon, the whip can also be used to attach itself to objects, allowing Simon to hang and reach very wide areas, for which a normal jump would not be enough. The player can also control Simon while he is crouched. Secondary weapons (knife, axe, cross and holy water) are also present and use a controller's own button (R) instead of the Up + Attack command.
It was the first game in the Castlevania series released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, later receiving conversions for the SNES Classic Edition and Virtual Console. Undoubtedly, an incredible game that used the power of the Super Nintendo in an exquisite way.

Absolutely. Bloodlines was a great game. But Super Castlevania 4 made it look like an Atari game. The graphics and sound on SC4 were incredible.

I play this occasionally on my PC. You just can't turn your back on a well done game like this.
I keep trying to play through it but for some reason the controls don't feel timed right. Jumps I made with ease on the SNES I struggle with with every controller I've thrown at it. Did you have this issue?

The soundtrack and gothic design of the game has always caused me to love this game. Of all systems this is probably my favorite game of all time. Wish they would come out with a real successor and give us a Switch or Sony version for the 21st century.
I would like a see a remastered version where they add in addition storyline cutscenes at the very beginning of the game, the last battle with Dracula, and the ending of the game. The graphics, the music soundtrack, and the gameplay is great just the way it is now. This game just needs a more in depth story to make this game even better. Also add in a auto save feature where you can save your game after each completed level so you don't have to redo the entire game again.
Castlevania titles don't need a deep storyline to be fun. It's all in the gameplay.
I wouldn't mind this game remade as is but with more design to the levels like you see in Metroid Dread to flesh it out more. Absolutely right about leaving the music alone tho.
Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a remaster. If your speaking about a remake Konami is not going to bother. After how badly Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 bombed.

A good Castlevania, but these stiff movements from the character are pretty annoying.
I can't stand the fact that this game was known for being the one where you can whip in all dierections... and this person is playing like it's any other Castlvania game... it's bothering me so much watching him jump to hit candle instead of just whipping up or at an angle

I still have my original copy of this game. It so good I think this is the only Castlevania game I ever beat. Please game developers make a better Castlevania that will beat this one and NO remastered don’t count I want a brand new game.

Absolutely love this version of Castlevania. Is my tradition to either play through it or watch it every halloween. Just once though, I'd like to see a play through where the player was as afraid to GET the boomerang as they usually are to lose it. Like a playthrough where you actually use the dagger, or axe, or holy water. The boomerang is the best weapon but a bit overpowered. I will say that although boomerang is most often the best weapon of choice, against the gold bat the axe is by far the best choice.
The music is so awesome
I still remember the boss in the Treasury was called Zapf Bat . I called the Nintendo helpline on how to defeat him. They responded we didn't get that far yet, I was shocked at what I heard and it made me feel good I was better than a video game counselor.

Lol I had 4 but parted with one. I seen them at a decent price and these game’s aren’t getting cheaper. Might as well sink money into these games as they are proven to be a safe place for a store of value. Plus it’s a tradable game too.
I got 3 of them too. 1 where I live, 1 at my parent's place if I wanna boot it up when I visit & a spare in case 1 stops working at some point. Never gets old. I honestly think I still play it so I can listen to the music

this game was only 1.5 hours, when most games now are 20-40 hours on average,
with some multiplayer sometimes.
Even if some games are 6-8 hours, i'll tolerate if they are good.
The music is very interesting. I played castlevania when I young and never got to play the snes versions.

First game I played when I got my first super nes. Years later got it on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection on the PS4. Took me about three weeks to solve it. I liked the music in the main hall. Sounding like something you hear at a baseball game.

Nice play through! Every time I thought you should have kept the cross instead of a different sub weapon you did. The game is just intuitive like that for those of us who know it well.
