Hey, I also started with a 700D (t5i) and eventually moved onto 70D, but now I'm using a Sony a6300. I'm considering moving back to Canon, once they release a proper, fully featured APS-C mirrorless (RF-S mount; M series doesn't count) and a couple of cheaper lenses for that system, because Sony's lenses are way too expensive for what they are.
So cool, we got started the same way! The sony's are rad man. I reviewed the A6400 awhile back and it was super solid. Sony's lenses seem overhyped to me. I'm crazy about Sigmas and they work on any mount these days, so I'm just holding out for the perfect TH-cam cam to come out.

Hey dude! I love both of those lenses and they're both great. Really it just depends on what you want to shoot. The Sigma 18-35 has better image quality and is kind of a jack of all trades. You can get relatively wide shots and then punch in to 35 for some nice mids. The Tokina just gets really wide and that's about it. I love it for vlogging but that's about it honestly. Just depends on what you want to shoot bruh!
...almost no content on this camera on youtube...yes I agree...however, my channel is almost entirely dedicated to the 90D! I love this camera...for many reasons...especially for the 120fps. Great video!

Am I the crazy one that doesn't think a soft focused face is really in focus? Like sometimes the 90D gets focus, but for the most part it's somewhat out of focus. I personally don't like that, am I the crazy one here?
well done review, I also started with Canon 550d and 600d (Rebels in US) and still own the 600d, mainly use it for travel photo's now, cause its already banged up:-) the 600d is without dpaf, but they are so light and fun to use. For video I now use the Canon 6D, C100 mk2, bmcc2.5k and Fuji XT3, I'm curious to see how the new firmware update for AF works on the fuji. Just read they updated that last month. But your review made me want to play with the 90D, for vloggers this would be such a userfriendly and light camera that just works, but would you not miss the ibis? Good review and tnx again Zach.
Bro you have quite the collection of awesome cameras. Sometimes I wish I would have held onto all of my old cams. Honestly I think I would miss IBIS for certain situations, I'm just getting really sick of the skin tones and noise from the GH5. I wish the GH5s had IBIS, that would be so sick for what I do.
@@ZachMayfield I almost sold them, but when I found out what the return would be, I figured I might as well keep them to experiment with..and for good old memories:-) I do the same with lenses. I also have two gh3's that I use on jobs that just need 1080p, it even has 60fps in All-i. For that they are still more then good enough. I remember when I switched from the Canon 600d to the gh3, the imagequality was so much better on the panasonics. So I guess that must of have been the same for you when you got the gh5. The c100 mk2 I should of have bought a lot sooner, that camera makes the job so simple for interviews, the skintones a lot better then the skintones on the gh3's. So I guess it depends on the job. I think that fuji Xt3 has the best image quality overall, but no xlr inputs like the c100 mk2. Thats why I'm keeping that for interview or quick doc work. The only upgrade I would like to make now is a good ibis sensor in a full frame body, but I'm in no rush. Let them first figure out how to make them well:-) There are still some quircks with it, like the up and down movement. Maybe fun to watch, the only video on my channel is one made with the Canon 550D. Shot more then 9 years ago..You tell me, why could a starting youtuber not still use that camera today. To me the imagequality is still dope, and even to think that I accidently shot it in 720p:-).
"The body.." :DDd Edit: I had a question too.. I broke the **it out of my lumix g9, and need a new cam, I liked it a lot, only thing holding me back is the low light stuff on that one. I have an opportunity to get g9, gh5 or 90d roughly at same price so im struggling on making a choice. I mostly shoot my self climbing and outdooring. Any opinions?
Dude I was a die hard GH5 user for 3 years and after reviewing the 90D I sold it to look for something more convenient for self filming. Between those 3 cameras I would absolutely choose the 90D!
We definitely have vastly different tastes in Cinema looks but this video was awesome! Entertaining as hell and also highly informative. I'm trying not to let my 80D see me watch it but it may be time to pull the trigger. These Sigma Art lenses need a little more body and brains although they have worked great with the 80D. Ok, fair enough, I just want the shiny new thing!
I feel you man! I was also still getting used to Canon colors cause I had my eye trained for the ole panasonic v-log. Really appreciate you watching dude!

Zach Mayfield Well like everyone else, the EOS R5 when it’s available... Ha! Otherwise, I’m tremendously interested in the RF lenses. I will be going back to canon from Sony specifically for the RF 85mm 1.2....
Be a Photographer Well... I haven’t really switched... I own the A7iii and EOS R... But I’m a sucker for 85mm’s... I’ve owned 5 including the 85 Art and I miss that 1. The RF is said to be even better than the art and is a 1.2...Because I do portraits and headshots, I just gotta have it! I haven’t been satisfied with my Sony portraits for the past year due to color... Sorry for the rant, but that what makes it worth it for me... 😅

Got some peeps looking into lens rentals including myself, told them to use your code to help support ya. How does the rent to own work? Is it still daily rental after 7 days?
Nice videos! Well done, useful and comprehensive! (=> subcribed!) I need to move on from my old nikon 5200 (that is one of the reasons holding me from making videos) and considering 90D or gh5 (+ sigma 18-35). Numbers aside, the real world difference is so huge? I'm leaning on the 90d (also for stills) but I want to be able to do some CG without breaking colors. I'd ideally go for a xt4 (I need the flip screen, can't afford a monitor/recorder now) but too expensive.

@@ZachMayfield got it. thank you.
Dude you're freaking hilarious.. you just became my go to on all camera specs
someone help me choose between 90D and RP for an upgrade of my T6I for photo
Came here for a camera review but had a smile on during the whole video. This guy is funny.
Effortlessly
I appreesh you. I look so damn tired in this video hahah
just came across your channel, interested in getting the 90D, love your style, got yourself a new subscriber my friend
...almost no content on this camera on youtube...yes I agree...however, my channel is almost entirely dedicated to the 90D! I love this camera...for many reasons...especially for the 120fps. Great video!
Dude that's dope, keeping making stuff man!
Try the tamron tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 di ii vc hld on the 90D .....sharp,silent,fast and....light!
That’s cool! I really dig lenses with wider apertures tho
i just want a 70d.!!! but i would go with 90d
I might have a special 70D video coming very soon shhhhhh
This is one of the better reviews I have seen - very informative so thank you very much for a great video! I am split between upgrading to the 90D or M6 mark ii (beginner photographer and videographer). Would you say that the M6 mark ii would be just as good of a choice? I would use it with an EF/EF-S adapter. Thank you so much for your time and help.
Ive researched both in depth and I’d say the 90D is better. Just my opinion
Instablaster.
thanks for this video, i'm looking for a camera, i'll definitely look forward to buy the canon 90d
Amazing dude! Feel free to use my link in the pinned comment, it'll give me a little commission and costs you nothing. Really appreciate you watching homie
@@ZachMayfield will definitely not use the code, i dont live in U.S. but i'll keep watching your videos!
I have that same tokina lens. Do you get bad rgb blurs with it when down to 11mm open at 2.8?
There's def some aberration with this lens but I don't mind it actually!
Sigma 18-35mm is the only lense you need... thats the one I have and there's no need to buy another lense
It's amazing for sure. I also have the 50-100 for my telephoto needs
@@ZachMayfield sigma 50-100 is my best lens ever.. sharp and bokeh machine
Should I just invest in the body and not bother getting the lens that’s with it? I currently hAve a sigma 18-35mm f1.8 art.
@@AbigaleKirsten i would recommend just getting the lense 18-35mm.. and not bother with the body
Am I the crazy one that doesn't think a soft focused face is really in focus? Like sometimes the 90D gets focus, but for the most part it's somewhat out of focus. I personally don't like that, am I the crazy one here?
I was thinking the same thing... You're not crazy.
well done review, I also started with Canon 550d and 600d (Rebels in US) and still own the 600d, mainly use it for travel photo's now, cause its already banged up:-) the 600d is without dpaf, but they are so light and fun to use.
Great review,will buy this camera.
You won't regret it, make sure to use my Amazon link!
@@ZachMayfield btw do you think it's good for music video,if I add great lense?
Thank you it looks like there is a lot of hard work that went into this video thank you so much I was a huge help
There sure was, and I really appreciate you watching!
Can we for photography in wedding or events
"Booty Views" LOL Zach, you put the wrong thumbnail on this video. I liked the sidebar content incorporated into the product review. Keeps it fresh.
hahah for real! Thanks for checking out my stuff!
What was the size of the pro mist filter for the 90D?
82mm 1/4 pro mist! I always use the largest filters then use step down ring to fit on all my other lenses
"The body.." :DDd
Edit: I had a question too..
😂💯
Because of location issues we are actually looking at a 90d to shoot an actual feature film.
everybody rockin the tokina UWA nowadays :)
Heck yeah m8!
Are you located in Memphis? Because the lens rental place is. That’s where I’m at🙌🏽
I’m in Nashville actually! They have a small office here where I pick my stuff up :)
I can’t get used to the short hair bro! Hahaha gotta say missing that GH5 IBIS though! 😅 appreciate you bro!
hahah I know right! The long hair was starting to make me look like an asylum patient. The IBIS is definitely rad. I'm just tired of the GH5 skin tones and noise bruh
I’m getting mine this Friday!!
HECK YEAH dude. Make some creamy content with it!
what you think about a6400 compare to 90d ?
I would choose the 90D in a heartbeat
Because..
Very good video. Please suggest me , which lens must I use. I am a beginner TH-cam film maker.
Kit lenses get the job done for beginners!
@@ZachMayfield thanks
EF Kit lenses! That way if you upgrade to full frame, you can still use them. Canon have a live chat if you have direct questions www.canon.co.uk/canonlive/live-chat/

I just got a 90d..how do you learn all this stuff lol I’m just trying to figure out which lenses are best for photography and videos and it’s so much haha 😭
Sigma 18-35 🔥🔥
Not even interested in this camera. I only watched because my first camera was an 80D. Yet, this was very enjoyable to watch. Subscribed... 😎
Yo dude that means a lot, thanks for hangin! Any particular cameras you'd be interested in?
Zach Mayfield Well like everyone else, the EOS R5 when it’s available... Ha! Otherwise, I’m tremendously interested in the RF lenses. I will be going back to canon from Sony specifically for the RF 85mm 1.2....
@@markdbey Wow what makes the lens so worth switching camera systems for?
Be a Photographer Well... I haven’t really switched... I own the A7iii and EOS R... But I’m a sucker for 85mm’s... I’ve owned 5 including the 85 Art and I miss that 1. The RF is said to be even better than the art and is a 1.2...Because I do portraits and headshots, I just gotta have it! I haven’t been satisfied with my Sony portraits for the past year due to color... Sorry for the rant, but that what makes it worth it for me... 😅
@@markdbey What software do you edit in?
You made the 90d look amazing
Small armed vlogger here🙋♀️
Love the 90D
Funny, very in depth, talented... subbed for sure! Btw, do you have a facebook page we can follow? Trying to link you on fb but not sure which Zach Mayfield Fb page is yours or if you have one or not. Keep up the great work fam!
My man, thank you! I have a Facebook page but I never use it honestly. Instagram is the best way to get in touch with me! @zachariahmayfield
Just bought a 90D and looking at your setup. It may be a lot to ask but could you do a tutorial of how you changed the profiles? That was some crazy shit I never even knew was possible lol
Got some peeps looking into lens rentals including myself, told them to use your code to help support ya. How does the rent to own work? Is it still daily rental after 7 days?
That ND filter worth the money?
For me yes. I was using cheaper ones for awhile but my colors were all whack. I'm gonna review it soon but very worth it.
I'm actually preordered the XT4, it seems like the perfect blend of the GH5 and 90D. Great autofocus, colors, IBIS, 4K 60. So yummy
@@ZachMayfield I got my 90d today :) Can't wait to try it out!!!
