Having flown both, the A380 is just too good of an aircraft. That combined with the service and food at emirates, Emirates makes economy feel like a higher class while Qatar is like any other airline.
Having flown in emirates first class(dxb-lax) and business class(bxx-dxb) on the a380 and Qatar airways q suites 2 times between lax to Doha, and their first class once, I find that Qatar offers a far better business class than emirates and I would honestly argue that they offer better food than emirates first class. Personally I’m not a big fan of caviar and I don’t drink alcohol so it honestly doesn’t make much of a difference when it comes to emirates. Sure showers and more privacy and bigger seats are great but it’s really more excessive than necessary. Also personally I liked Qatar airways first class lounge more simply for it’s architectural beauty and quietness, but I would say that food is better on emirates lounges with wagyu burgers and gourmet meals. Also the quiet rooms in Qatar lounge was far better but then again emirates gives you the option for a free hotel room so it kind of evens out but I would’ve preferred if it was inside the lounge. Also there’s obviously the value, overall the Qatar flight was about 60% the price of the first class flight on emirates from personal experience which is quite balanced I would say. Overall I think flying Qatar business is thee way to go and I plan on using them in the future for connections from lax. Personally I have never flown economy on either airline so I can’t comment on that but for premium cabins I think Qatar wins
I have flown with emirates exactly once and it was by far, very far, the worst experience I ever had. Absolutely abysmal. I recommend everyone to stay away from those thugs as far as possible. Worst 52 hours flying and sleeping on a floor with a sleeping bag that I ever spent. Also absolutely worst service and customer support. Still angry one month later.
a380 is cool and all but it doesnt really offer any big advantage does it. And most people arent frequent flyers most people who use qatar and emirates are people seeing there families or at least on north american routes. i say there both equal
One big reason for Emirates’s strategy is their hub airport in Dubai. It only has 2 runways so they can’t just add more flights like Qatar. Emirates instead has to add seats through airplane size. Another difference is that Emirates focuses on having first and buisness class on the same planes when Qatar has gone with having a more advanced business class.

ive never flown any other airline besides Qatar Airways, they can literally fly you into the middle of nowhere as long as there's an airport to land, whilst giving you quality service and affordable prices, and also when your Qpoints reach a certain threshold you can book free flights
I choose QR. EK doesn't fly to smaller airports it employs low cost Flydubai for small airports. Whilst QR flies to small airports offering same premium service.

He Dan! I just wanna say, I’m SUPER excited for the new video. I love your content and the reviews and informational videos are so awesome! Finally I’m early for a video and I’ve been loving u ever since I discovered the TH-cam channel. Great job!😁😁😁
I used to fly Qatar and switched to Emirates to try the A380, they also offer a limo service and their price to Birmingham was slightly cheaper. The better things with Qatar Airlines is the on-airfield mini terminal that are used for limited time plane changes. The new business class lounge is wonderful and have a meal cooked fresh Infront of you is great. Emirates new lounge is also good but if you're going to be bused to your aircraft, you will be sent to the old lounges a train ride away from where you arrive. Only to be bused to the stand right next to the new lounge. I hate being bused reminds me of BOAC back in 1952.
I love the “it worked pretty well… until recently…” and now that travel has picked up Emirates are doing super well. Hell most Emirates A380s I’ve been on recently have been more or less fully booked, especially in the premium cabins
I honestly dont care that Qatar has the newest A350-1000 and the 787 and whatever - i can get the A350 and 787 on tons of other airlines. Meanwhile, Emirates has over 100 A380s. And barely any airlines at all operate A380s today
Although Emirates' business class and first class has great service and is luxurious, I can't help but hate their interiors - the tan, wood and gold is just so gaudy and tasteless...
Emirate’s service standard has gone down bad,y. Qatar is not flying, it’s an experience. Once you take Qatar there is no going back to any other airline.. love it, my fave!
While the demand has dropped off, most airlines have reduced flights. My trips to the UAE have still been on crowded aircraft, especially the legs into Dubai.
Flew once with Turkish on the first time I depart to Europe, then I flew with Qatar on my first homecoming trip and never look back. Tried to upgrade to business class once when I returned home last year, and never looked back ever since and I will make sure I earn much so I can fly in business every homecoming trip ever. Pricewise it is better and Doha airport for the layover is just extraordinary. Not to mention their frequent flyer perks are way better. Extra 15KG for their lowest tear? A heavyweight traveler like me enjoys a fortune. Oh, don't you also know that they just opened a new and better Silver Longue in Doha if you fly economy? No more crowded "Business Class Longue" where we need to compete just to get a seat. (Although it can get crowded as well at times lol)
This explains my recent MIA-DOH-BKK flight. MIA to DOH, 777... Bearable even though very long flight. DOH-BKK was in some crappy A330 or some such. That broke me. By the time I rolled off that flight I was in agony. Serves me right for not stopping in DOH I know, but I was in a rush.
Emirates does not offer one consistent product but two. Their economy class has 10-abreast seating both in the A380 (cabin width 6.58m) and the B777 (cabin width 5.86m). To offer the same seat width and elbow space they would have to go 9-abreast in the B777, but apparently the extra width isn't worth enough to economy class passengers to install one fewer seat per row. So you're lucky if you happen to live on a heavily-used route that has A380.
Discovered your channel yesterday and watching through the archive now. Have you done a video on the African airlines? If not, would be great to see one especially as SAA is in massive decline while Ethiopian and Rwandan are soaring.
@@myselfazania7771 pretty sure Rwanda has been cooking the economic books for years, but enjoy the cool aid. If you want a sober take on Rwanda in general suggest you read “do not disturb” by Michela wrong.
Why are flight attendants at Qatar only allowed to work on specific airplanes? In the US, flight attendants are able to work flights from the A319 all the way to the 77W and every plane in between at their airline.
Dan but if you look at the Emirates Group as a whole you would find that in general Emirates focus is on the large cities where demand is very high where as flydubai focuses on second tier cities and cities where the demand is not much for widebodies to be operated. Qatar airways has repeatedly said that they are not interested in a low cost carrier. So if you were to compare Emirates Group and Qatar Airways Emirates would fare better. Qatar airways may have weathered the pandemic well but it didn't mean they didn't lose money or didn't have a weak spot their investment in other airlines was their biggest weakness in this pandemic as they had to pump money into them throughout the pandemic. So this strategy of Qatar airways to invest in other airlines didn't work well in the pandemic
You're forgetting a key component in this comparison, Fly Dubai! That's an Emirates subsidiary that is low cost and has an entirely 737 narrow body fleet. So they don't put 777 on destinations with low passenger volumes, they put Fly Dubai's 737 instead. Overall, I believe Emirates/Fly Dubai strategy is more sound.
@11:20 of the US legacy carriers Airbus makes up 52% of DL's current fleet and orders, 48% of UA's current fleet and orders, and AA is the worlds largest operator of A321s. Boeing and Airbus may not be the same aviation ambassadors to the US and Europe that they were in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Think he meant for non-European and American carriers. Most throw their weight behind one or the other. When JAL placed an order for Airbus there was a surprisingly emotional reaction.
My problem with Qatar is this. When flying to a destination from Heathrow for example, it is always via Doha, but with unfeasibly short connection times between landing in Doha and checking in for your onward flight. So unless you are in the first few passengers to get off of the plane in Doha, you are going to miss your ongoing flight. This means that you have to go to their desk in Doha transit lounge and be allocated a new onward flight, this can be up to 12 hours later. So you are held "hostage" in the transit lounge (spending money) for several hours, and you eventually arrive at your final destination very tired, and you lose the first day of your visit due to lateness and tiredness. I'm pretty sure this is done on purpose, in order to get you to spend money in the transit lounge whilst waiting.
This is completely not true, I recently flew Heathrow to Doha and then onto Brisbane, we landed an hour behind schedule and my onward Brisbane flight had already started boarding. Qatar always have a log of onward passengers who will be joining the boarding queue from another plane and not from check-in, they always know when a plane is delayed and when it is possible with minimal delays they wait for every single passenger. This was the case for me and for that I will always fly Qatar long haul.
@@jakejones3219 I can only speak of MY personal experience of flying with Qatar around a dozen times between 2010 and 2017. On several occasions I couldn't get to the gate before boarding closed. You may have experienced differently, but that does not make my experience any less valid.

777 emirates business is shite, only their 380 is good, qatar business much better in my experience, 380 1st emirates is great
ive never flown any other airline besides Qatar Airways, they can literally fly you into the middle of nowhere as long as there's an airport to land, whilst giving you quality service and affordable prices, and also when your Qpoints reach a certain threshold you can book free flights
I've flown both and I prefer Qatar and will be taking them in the future, perhaps with exceptions. Both are great though.
I found the economy class seats much more comfortable on Emirates 777 vs Qatar 777.
I choose QR. EK doesn't fly to smaller airports it employs low cost Flydubai for small airports. Whilst QR flies to small airports offering same premium service.
Fun fact: Qatar Airways used to be the sponsor of FC Barcelona and Emirates is and was the sponsor of it’s rival Real Madrid.
In the case of Emirates, the one should not forget of FlyDubai with its fleet of smaller machines. Being essentially parts of the same company, they supplement each other. Thank you for your video.
I’m flying Qsuite next week because of you Dan❤️
This is a hugely underrated channel
Glad to hear my current city I live in, Penang, is mentioned there
New subscriber 🙋🏾♀️ This is premium, informative and mighty helpful content.
Traveling in 3 days so excited!
Great video as always dude. Keep it up. You entirtain us all and we all appreciate it.
Thanks for great information.God bless you and your family
I love Qatar because of the variation in aircraft I also like it because I only use one world.
He Dan! I just wanna say, I’m SUPER excited for the new video. I love your content and the reviews and informational videos are so awesome! Finally I’m early for a video and I’ve been loving u ever since I discovered the TH-cam channel. Great job!😁😁😁
No matter what people say, the a380 is such a cool plane and because it is double decker
Great documentary, wishing you 500k subs
Krabi, i been there! Let's go Nok Air, ahahah. Thailand was very fun!
Very informative video. Keep up the good work.
I love these insightful videos! So interesting. Thank you! 💯💯💯
I love the “it worked pretty well… until recently…” and now that travel has picked up Emirates are doing super well. Hell most Emirates A380s I’ve been on recently have been more or less fully booked, especially in the premium cabins
Hello Dan! Hope all is well with you! Love your super informative video as always! :) I truly miss Qatar A380 though! :(
Amazing reporter thanks Dan you are the best reporter hello from Algeria
HOW I REALLY WISH THAT ONE DAY I COULD FLY WITH EITHER QATAR OR EMIRATES AIRPALNES CAUSE IT SEEMS THE EXPERIENCE IS INCOMPARABLE
I honestly dont care that Qatar has the newest A350-1000 and the 787 and whatever - i can get the A350 and 787 on tons of other airlines.
Meanwhile, Emirates has over 100 A380s. And barely any airlines at all operate A380s today
A380 wins hands down for my long haul travel ….. Qatar or Emirates, either is OK, provided it’s an A380.
This was really interesting and love the analítics on both airlines
i remember my first flight with emirates it was from dubai to Frankfurt. it was one of my best flights
Congratulations for the 529,000 subscribers. Now you will have to up your goal to 1,000,000.
Although Emirates' business class and first class has great service and is luxurious, I can't help but hate their interiors - the tan, wood and gold is just so gaudy and tasteless...
The quality of this video is on par with those done for broadcast television, such as CNBC.
Pls do more Oman Air!
Nothing quite like the A380. Flew on it with several airlines, including Emirates, and every time was great. To the point I didn’t want to leave.
Thank you! I feel so much more knowledge when talking about airlines :)
Flew on Emirates A380 and it was an amazing experience. Massive plane!
Saw a Qatar 747 yesterday at jfk . I know they don’t use them but maybe it was one for cargo ?
Amazing comparison between the two giants
By a rising giant of aviation analysis videos ✈️✈️✈️😁😁
Hey Dan, You nice, keep going 😊💜
Really enjoy all your reviews good or bad ! We Learn a lot . Thank you
Great job on this analysis!
In short they are both great but qatar is rated higher because they pay attention to details my cousin works for qatar airways
Great video, Dan!
Great video Dan
Emirates does not offer one consistent product but two. Their economy class has 10-abreast seating both in the A380 (cabin width 6.58m) and the B777 (cabin width 5.86m). To offer the same seat width and elbow space they would have to go 9-abreast in the B777, but apparently the extra width isn't worth enough to economy class passengers to install one fewer seat per row. So you're lucky if you happen to live on a heavily-used route that has A380.
Another great video Dan! As always.
Discovered your channel yesterday and watching through the archive now. Have you done a video on the African airlines? If not, would be great to see one especially as SAA is in massive decline while Ethiopian and Rwandan are soaring.
Agreed, the aviation market in Africa is growing and now we're seeing new/restructuring African carriers
Maybe ET and KQ. SA is dead, and RwandAir finances are precarious.
That’s a good idea - will think of some concepts for that!
@@michaelx4810 unfortunately I’m also interested in Ethiopian and Rwanda. Rwanda as a country is growing super fast . I’d like to hear more about them
@@myselfazania7771 pretty sure Rwanda has been cooking the economic books for years, but enjoy the cool aid. If you want a sober take on Rwanda in general suggest you read “do not disturb” by Michela wrong.
awesome video!!
pure hospitality
Why are flight attendants at Qatar only allowed to work on specific airplanes? In the US, flight attendants are able to work flights from the A319 all the way to the 77W and every plane in between at their airline.
great video, enjoy these types of videos
Would rather fly Emirates then Qatar any day but maybe that's just because I'm From the Emirates
Your narration top notch 🔥
Absolutely loved this excellent analysis. Do more of such videos.
I hv flown in both Qatar airways n Emirates both but I prefer Qatar airways service
Great video and even better seamless link from Qatar to nordvpn ad at the end
Uae and Qatar was one country in 1961
Having flown both airlines. While both are amazing and undoubtedly the best out there, i will always choose qatar over any other mainly due to their exceptional service, staff and food.
Can you make a video of Etihad's Business Class? I love airplanes and find them so interesting. The video was very helpful, thx!!
Etihad airways is down and out of competition,
@@bhagatchander what?
@@marcelbischof7203 he is quite right
I have been flight with Qatar Airways and I love it, but I love both of two airlines. I wish I can become a cabin crew with this airlines. Just love it because they all gives opportunities to every different nationality to work with them. ❤️❤️❤️
amazing video man keep the work up!
