      April, although Donald Trump may not be much of a moral leader, he is actually the kind of independent Republican that I am close to being. I consider myself Independent but at the election box I wanted to vote for Obama because I know I am not a racist and I liked him somewhat but he seemed too inexperienced as a leader and a bit of a collectivist for my taste. I shouldn't have to vote against my political beliefs (reduce the national debt, smaller government, keep America safe via military and border) to support a racial minority. The Republican party has a hard time pandering to the minorities in general since they must use the message of prosperity over everything else to convince those to vote their way. Tax cuts for everyone, conservative values of limited abortion, small government, and make businesses boom by cutting the red tape rings true to half of America. The other half see more social programs and Medicare for All as the new buzzword. The Democrats will always dangle a bigger government solution with free stuff. The question is do you support limited government and reducing the national debt and making America safe. If so, you will find that Republicans aren't racists at all as well. Unfortunately there are some out there for sure, but Republicans should rebuke them and not allow them to have any voice in the party. The Democrats have a big tent including socialists, communists, Antifa, BLM, Black panthers, and large numbers of SJW organizations to limit conservatives voice. It's about time that the Republicans shed once and for all the idea that they embrace any bigoted ideology by openly inviting all races to join the Republicans and openly challenge the lie that they are a party of racists. I will join when that happens, hopefully soon with Trump. Thanks for your time.

Capitalism only benefits the rich not the poor, 70% of Americans are poor and would be way better off under communism. Capitalism 1% have 75% of the total wealth of the nation 99 % have 25% left and of this the upper 19% have 70 % of this 25 % leaving fuck all for the people who work the most and are the main support of the whole economy. Your problem is you don’t know anything other than what Fox has indoctrinated you with. Living standards in Russia are based on the fact that they have less than an eighth of America’s wealth shared out across the population. So democrats don't believe in personal responsibility and picking up yourself by your bootstraps. I see many good reasons to be a Republican. I see the same with being Democrat. What bothers me about both sides is that blacks in both parties do not fight against the shames, practices and evils that each practice. Far too often, black Republicans tend to believe that those who don't vote Republican desire hands and actually feel untitled to them. The "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" is the most insulting thing you can say to anyone who don't have the "bootstraps" often referred. Personal responsibility is always a must, but that doesn't happen without encouragers and others with more "boots" to give a helping hand when and where it's needed. Each of those black persons has received some degree of help from someone, somewhere, somehow. When Republicans say that comment about boots, they are telling you to do everything yourself without any consideration of them helping you along the way.
    I said it before, I see the value of being a Republican according to the values that make Americans on both sides of the statue great. However, as a moral, ethical person who clearly see the ground work of what most Republicans believe me as a black man to be and the practices they perform, I cannot consciously vote for any Republican. And the thing is, I see the same about voting Democrat.
    Being an Independent is very lonely. And I absolutely hate the idea of voting for the lesser evil - I don't know which that is.

One is a culture of dependancy and the other is a culture of insensitivity. I hold a lot of conservative viewpoints, but the blatant racist comments and overt religiosity of the Republican Party sickens me. In terms of the Democrats there is this “we feel so sorry for you poor blacks who can’t compete, and we feel bad about our past racism so let’s fix that” kind of energy. Dems are like a helicopter mom, who just won’t let go and let the child be. I find it patronizing and cruel. Although I do agree with some ideology’s in terms of healthcare for all and tolerance of difference although the PC culture right now is aggravating. It’s frustrating.

      It's easy for Republicans to preach "personal responsibility" while they actively implement practices to undermine minorities. Being willfully ignorant maintains the status quo. For example, we're (republicans), cutting education budgets...but, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY....the concept is so ridiculous because they simultaneously undermine minorities, then blame them for not being successful.

    • @carl3063
      @carl3063 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not really tho. If you think about it, the two actually go hand in hand. How can someone take education, for example, seriously by putting it into their own hands (personal responsibility) if the government is sponsoring it. I'm not in full agreement with Repubs when there's no logical path to ensure personal responsibility with cuts, but in reality it doesn't make sense to think people will create stronger programs while the gov is already taking care of it. Like even welfare reform in the 90s could've been taken more seriously. Republicans took the lead and ended up getting everything they wanted because of the party divide with no negotiations on the Dem side. For example, maybe the limitation could've been a longer number of years for benefits. Dems are viewed as lazy ignorant people because they won't even think about the issues further than "what can we give people". That silly type of inaction undermines our democracy.

    • @chigasaki06
      @chigasaki06 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      CusWeAre "How can someone take education, for example, seriously by putting it into their own hands (personal responsibility) if the government is sponsoring it."
      What's wrong with the government sponsoring education? That's part of the problem I have with Republicans. Most of you view things that the government SHOULD be doing as some type of handout. You say handout, I say investing in the populace. Why should basic, common-sense initiatives, such as affordable education be controversial? You act like there's a push to blindly give people stuff and make the assumption that those programs would be misused or abused. America is probably the only country in the world where higher education means taking out mortgaged sized loans...that's pathetic. Then we wonder why education levels are falling.

    • @carl3063
      @carl3063 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really was only taking your example about education to talk about how if domestic programs were given more liberty and unsocializing them, the people operating such programs could be better improved and more successful since they would actually have a stake in its outcome. I think our education system is shit. My mom's a teacher and she'll agree. The pay is lousy, the teachers work long hard hours, kids don't learn anything and are not prepared for anything post-grade school. Our education systems is abused more/less. In Europe, where people like to model society after, there are issues with kids going to college and being there for 4+ years since it's free. When they graduate they don't really know much and employers actually have this concern when hiring. Free college education is stupid because not only will kids not learn anything, but you're right, those huge expenditures on college tuition, if taken by the government, will literally bankrupt our futures. Obama's modest socialist goals has already doubled our deficit in eight years. Can't imagine what tragedy a more liberal agenda would produce.

I don't think you have to risk your life to show courage... you just need to stand, and NOT take a knee when the national anthem plays. There are so many red-states run by Republican politicians with lots of black citizens but in these states you see that black citizens are under-educated and have a lower quality of life. Republican politicians need to prove that they can uplift the black people in these states, if they are successful, black people nationwide will be able to see that these politicians are genuine. This is the fundamental of trust, in any relationship whether it's husband and wife, employer and employee, pet-owner and pet or politician and voter - trust is earned. You do something to earn the trust of the other person. You prove that you are worhthy of the other person's trust and then you will have their trust for a long time. I think what America is missing is diversification of political platforms, here in Canada we have Conservative (Republican), Liberal (Democrats), New Democratic Party (Mix of both), Green Party & they all hold seats in our parliament, working together. Goodluck on your elections 'Merica!

      I am a lifelong republican and was even a young republican of America and campaign volunteer. Party doesn't matter....COUNTRY matters and voting and encouraging a rapist isn't a party thing its a woman hater thing !!!! Why would you vote for a rapist pedophile convict ? If anything that further stereotypes minorities that will vote for a felon to give more rights to convicts and sex predators.......so if you care about your country you can stay a republican but not a trump supporter those are two different things....ones a political party the other is a cult of followers that support PROVEN rapist and felons

    I left the Democratic party a few years ago and became an Independent because the Dem party has come to expect black votes, while taking us for granted and not addressing the most pressing issues facing minority communities: employment, poverty, education, crime, police brutality, etc. The fact is, all of these issue are related and Dems should be the ones addressing them. That said, it'll be a cold day at the equator before I'd identify as a Republican. The GOP platform is disgraceful on every level. It's all about protecting the interests of the wealthy under the guise of supply side or trickle down economics. We have known for decades that this nonsensical idea only makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, but it's the only policy Republicans ever advocate for, even still. It's absurd. Add to that the fact that much of the GOP controlled south still clings to thinly veiled racist ideology and policy, such as voter ID laws, race based gerrymandering, civil forfeiture, etc. Of course Dems play gerrymandering games when they're in charge too, but the fact they've lost 1000 legislative seats, nationally, to the GOP in recent years makes it crystal clear who's better at playing that game. In any case, as a politically progressive black man, I could never support the GOP, unless they completely transformed their entire party platform into something more humane and that's not likely to happen. As for the Dems, they dead to me as well, until they start to listen to the one guy that understands what they need to do, Bernie Sanders. He also happens to be the most popular politician in the country, but they treat him like a rabid dog. That too is not likely to happen, so I will remain an Independent and continue to vote 3rd party. The entire political establishment in the US is utterly broken and career politicians desperately need a wake up call. They only serve their corporate campaign donors and have abandoned working class people, so they must be reminded who they should be working for.

The Left will absolutely keep you alive for generations, as a permanent underclass, on the other hand the right sees actions,production etc encouraging EVERY American to fly as high as they possibly can. Respect isn't possible to be legislated, it can only be earned.

    I find it interesting that the first black female republican mentions picking oneself up by the bootstraps but it the video of the black one percenters that led me here notes that's based on the presumption that people have boots. That's the central issue with the Republican party.

    The first African-American senator was a Republican. His name was Hiram Rhodes Revels and he took office in February of 1870. That wasn't a typo, it was 1870.
    The first African-American senator representing the Democratic Party didn't take office until 123 years later. Carol Moseley Braun took office in January of 1993. This is public information, easy to find, but no one talks about it.

    I love watching Americans of any ethnicity awaken to to the American dream, the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Most African Americans are conservative at heart due to their Christian upbringing. This must collide with their political choices if they are voting liberal at the polls. I get the FDR thing, necessity was greater than politics. But why continue with the party of slave owners, KKK and Jim Crowe?

    Here is one thing to take note of. If EVERY PERSON magically turned into a stick person tomorrow and we didn't know race or gender....90% of all conservative positions would remain UNCHANGED dealing with stick people!!! The left would be totally lost as 90% of their positions would be obsolete.
    The ideas of small govt, individual rights concerning freedom of speech, 2nd Adm, low taxation, personal responsibility being the key to moving forward, pride in your country, greater freedom and liberty, capitalism, free markets, etc...would not change one bit!!!

    As a white woman, I am so proud to see so many black Americans waking up to see the reality that it has been the Democratic Party that for so many years endorsed racism and promoted these programs to keep black Americans suppressed with the idea that without these entitlement programs you can’t do anything or get anywhere or better yourselves. Responsibility is the key word within the Republican Party. Taking responsibility for yourself, doing the responsible thing, be responsible for your family and the reality that every action you take has a consequence and affects others, whether it be good or bad. The democrats are scared. They see that many black Americans are realizing this and standing up and yes, switching over. They’re still going to keep doing what they’ve always done but now they are focusing on the illegal immigrants. They will be the Democrat’s new ‘black’. That is exactly why you see them wanting open borders and to them it doesn’t matter if that invites drugs, human/child trafficking, disease etc. It is all about power, power over the people they can suppress and made to feel beholden to them. You see the democrats now pushing socialism which will make all Americans beholden to the government for everything. We as a country have a responsibility to stop this before America is lost forever.

    I'm of Hispanic descent (Portuguese/Spaniard/Basque) and I'm a Republican. I've been a Republican since I was 18 and that's been 42 years. Now most of my family are Democrats. They've asked me why? I have explained to them that most if not all laws against other groups of people all come from the Democrats. All gun laws which are racist come from Democrats. Every restrictive law on the books come from Democrats. And all restrictive laws are based on restricting a group of people be it race or class come from Democrats.
