Working on a 2001 version today - we're sorting out the fact the rear axle is held on by cobwebs... welding complete (say it fast) I rang looking for new spring shackles as the old ones are toast.. parts guys we use had none/couldn't get.. Hmm.,.. rang the main stealers, they said they'd ring back.. they rang back an hour later - "parts are discontinued/NLA/We not makes 'em any more Pal/Tough tiddies..... " Blimey... Rang "We have every spring bit on Earth R Us" - they couldn't get any either..... Well good luck to folks with that... I'll make a pair, we have the gear to do that, but dunno what loads of people will do.
The metal is too thin to seam weld…that would cause distortion. That’s why people do small spots around the repair then continue around to minimise distortion.
I was thinking about that same. Even tho a lot of them is weldet only on spots but then they are overlaping and ruber filed seams which mainly fails here 😊

I hate welding these btw - it's never ending. You think you are done, you spot another hole... and another... Endless. Pleurff.
A lot parts that was discontinued goes under diferent part numbers but it is same. I had hard time to find fuel presure regulator but i made it

You should have seam welded the repairs NOT just "spots" !
