Just another DIY guy learning as i go, I work as a welder/fabricator for a company that makes everything from furniture to large constructions. In spare time i like to make jewelry which i would love to do full time, so bare with me as i figure this out on the go...
DIY camper van cabinet frames and cladding
The old VW LT is starting to take shape and will soon be livable. the framing is done and most of the cladding, still have to do the walls and the ceiling but I will leave it for the next one, so far very happy with the results!

Covering the entire van interior with MDF boards because of one reason alone... its free. Had a bunch of boards siting in the shop from a previous job figured ill use them for the van build, but plywood is better ofc. the window fitting was difficult because everything is curved and at an angle so I didn't want to complicate it further and went with the easyest way possible, not gonna lie this ...

First part of the insulation and flooring in the campervan restoration, goin with the standard vibrofiltr on the walls and a thick sound deadening foam on the arches and for the floor a thin foam underlayment with 15mm OSB board, then earth wool in the walls which I will cover with alu foil and MDF boards in the next part.

Cutting out the rust holes and replacing them with new sheet metal, seems this campervan was worked on a bunch of times which makes sense since its from 1977... I am doing this type of repairs for the first time so bare with me as I attempt to make this thick boy beautiful again.

The campervan is way worse then I suspected it will demand much more time to fix then I planed but never the less we will get it running in no time.

Hi, I am really am inspired by your videos. I have a 2005 LT 35 LWB I got it in July. I have not started on it yet. But hopefully next year when it gets warm again. I got married to a woman from Novi Sad in 2020. At almost 2 years she had a psychotic episode called the police who woke me up with the complaint that I had threatened to kill her and her son they put me in the city jail for 31 days, as she made up some more lies. Because my Serbian is almost non existent they believed her. But I really liked Serbia and found the people their generally pleasant and easy going. Even the jail was okay I viewed it as a free 31 day vacation and I got to learn the alphabet both cyrillic and latinic. I would hope to visit someday in the future but I feel that she might have got another warrant for my arrest even though I went back to the UK immediately. And I could spend 60 days on a real vacation rather than Novi Sad proletarian city jail. I got my UK drivers license exchanged for a Serbian whilst married but they do not exchange Serbian licenses for UK so I will have to go back in 2027 if Serbia is still non EU to get it renewed. I am hoping you guys join the EU so that I can get my old drivers license back. Anyhow thanks again for the awesome videos you have an awesome talent and I look forward to watching more. Good job bro. I did this on my LT35E a coupla of years ago, most lower panels replaces and the windscreen pillars where these vans love to rust... But i still love the brick. Im puttinf 2.5tdi engine from audi a6 c4, 140hp 💪
Good to see another LT surviving! I own the same one, but from the end of production. Too pity you made so thin floor insulation, in cold days it's the weakest point of mine and I got 2cm extra layer. I got the same OSB board but have put it on 2cm wooden frame + insulation everywhere in between the wood. Anyway good job so far man!
thank you! yea its a shame for the floor but I just didnt want to take anymore height out of it because its already tight as it is, im going to put 1 more layer of termosilent and laminat flooring on it tho, hope it helps a bit...

Weld those outside corners from the inside then when you grind you won't leave them thin. Polyethylene isnt the best for template, i use thin cardboard some use paper which can be held in place by rare earth magnets.

It's an amazing decision. Can't wait to see how you build it!
Consider coating the backside of the patches before welding them in, usually not accessible from the inside/backside. Zinc better than nothing, cleaning and epoxy better but will deteriorate when you weld. Weld-through primer best when there's much welding on the outside, but the primer should be welded before it is completely dry and then it may burn (and stink) a little so make sure there's no wires or insulation and stuff inside.

Дружище. Ты неплохо владеешь инструментом. Но подумай сам. О причинах - почему именно в этих местах Фольксваген потерпел фиаско в битве со ржавчиной ? Ты завариваешь наглухо места , которые подвижны в конструкции. Все что ты наложишь сверху - фибергласс , шпаклевку, краску и тд. Все лопнет. И будет снова дыра. Только уже твоя. Рукотворная. Удачи
