I'm continually surprised, at how many talents, were encouraged and pursued career paths, by way of interning for Conan. Speaks to how open, encouraging, and well regarded he and his team are, given everyone's positive memories of those times.

"Yeay-Booh" kind of really became the inofficial theme song of the Conyverse. Love it. As a huge fan of both, the Clueless Gamer segment and the Fallout game franchise, that song kind of resonates with me for some reason...

In a Newfoundland and eastern Canada (heavy Irish influence) they have kitchen parties where music is played and drinks are drunk and stories are told. 😊

I love Mike Birbiglia. Billy Crystal did the story telling stand up comedy in his special 700 Sundays. It was excellent.

I was 12 when Conan took over. I was a kid who loved to stay up with my mom and watch Johnny and Dave, so I was well-versed in their humor even at a very very young age. When Conan was announced as Dave’s replacement, it was for sure “Uhhhh….who?” moment with everyone. Conan was right, those first several months or longer were rough; I would watch more for what Andy would say than Conan. But I am glad I didn’t give up, Conan and his show influenced a large part of my comedic sensibilities.
These podcasts are great because it’s like the “How It’s Made” series; you learn so much and it all makes sense.

I wanted to say more after I hit enter.
With this podcast, it has made it so I can’t watch regular talk shows like Fallon, Seth, Colbert, Kimmel, etc. That formulaic “guest comes out, host and guest make some jokes back and forth at best, show a clip, thanks for coming” process that I for years with every talk show watched has now become uninteresting.

This type of stand-up is very common and popular in the Netherlands and we wouldn’t call you a stand-up comedian, but a “cabaretier” (French pronunciation.)

Dude's material is good bc its humble, relatable, and down to earth as well as being hilarious. Whenever I hear him irl though he has a hollywood, Im a celebrity vibe that is very anti-standup and somewhat offputting

I worry about Mike’s reliance on medical conditions to develop new material. He is either going to get healthier and his material will dry up, or his health will deteriorate further. This is a no-win situation.

It's reliance on his life experience for stories and observations just like any other comic. I'm sure funny things will still happen

Did comedy recently get replaced by tragedy, or is this the best he can come up with?
