I don't know why I'm like this, but upon hearing Mike claim that he saw Ben in 'Thank God for Jokes', I decided to dedicate my life to searching that entire special to see if I could spot Ben like a game of Where's Waldo. In conclusion, Ben appears in the audience at the top of the frame at 22 minutes and 41 seconds into the special.
Love hearing that these dudes hang out with the Tim Robinson/ Joe Pera/ Conor O’ Malley crowd with guys like Gary Richardson and Carmen Christopher. The niche, silly goofy comedy scene is in a renaissance.
This was such an enjoyable podcast. Funny, poignant, and sweet. I really felt like I caught a glimpse into Ben, John and Martin's real lives. Also loved hearing some of the backstories into how skits evolved and their histories,
A conversation between legends, I'm always glad to hear the show while I drive but I really loooove the TH-cam version ❤ 100% my comfort podcast from my comfort comedian. Great place to meet new comedians too, so 10/10 Mike please invite Marcello Hernández 🙏🏽!!
I love these guys and almost didn't listen because it's so hard to listen to 3 people be interviewed at one time. I'm glad I decided to check it out anyway. Mike, you beat Pete Holmes! This was such a great pod, and love all 4 of you even more now! Also, I had to pause to watch the Bad Bunny Shrek sketch. ❤
I suspect there's a generational difference between the guy who wanted to talk his talented friends out of leaving show biz and the guys who admired people for caring about other things more than show biz.
Ok. Can I just point out, there's always been a very odd connection between Savannah and New Jersey? I'm honestly so weirded out right now, but in a good way.
I actually felt really scared when he started talking about taking Martin on the road. The faces of the other guys, they hesitated too. For a group of 3, an established figure in the comedy world taking just one of them under his wing, is a death threat to the team. And they must fear it constantly
I think you've probably learned, from this group, that microphone placement needs to be better considered. Do you think that's why JRE (and others) use headphones?
Yeah. Thats called monitoring. In the audio world its important to hear yourself to perform. Its why musicians wear in ears while on stage. But this isnt music. Its a conversation, volumes don’t need to match. Its just people talking, audio quality doesnt matter at all.
so it sounds like they're really good at being Please Don't Destory but not very funny otherwise and that's ultimately why so many of the other sketches are unfunny....
SO many struggling, independent comedy creators on YT who are writing smarter and funnier material than these guys. But, hey, it pays to be the son of an SNL producer or writing partner of Adam Sandler. Or the college buddy of one of those two guys.
That's disappointing to hear that they write a lot of the sketches. Most of the sketches for the past year or so have been pretty bad. I like their segments, but the rest of the show usually is sub par at best. At least since the vast majority of good cast members left.
Those guys are hella-slow. NONE of them got the Lonely Island reference. I've heard of them. Nice to find out so quickly if I should care about them or if their comedy isn't worth my time. Thanks, Mike!
they do understand the lonely island references, they’re just clearly tired of hearing them. people call them “the lonelier island” constantly and it’s pretty obvious from interviews that they don’t really like it all that much. little weird to base your opinion on their work/humor from whether or not they laugh at a tired joke haha
@@em-qj3fo Real comedians would have already written a dozen funny comebacks each for the obvious thing which everyone will say from now til forever. Instead, they come off as clueless posers like Greta Van Fleet half-pretending they never heard of Led Zeppelin.

wait i checked that time and he's not there??
@@nicolewangmusic Way top of the shot when it cuts to the big shot ragging on woman-cop guy
Thanks! But now I'm wondering if Mike *really* remembers him from the edit bay, because he's barely noticeable. Cutting room floor?
@ethanenspace8193 he did mention spending 65 hours with the footage so I'm sure it was cutting room floor.
Thank you for your service, now I dont need to scan the whole special over and over again.
Love hearing that these dudes hang out with the Tim Robinson/ Joe Pera/ Conor O’ Malley crowd with guys like Gary Richardson and Carmen Christopher. The niche, silly goofy comedy scene is in a renaissance.
These three definitely brought vitality to SNL
I always look forward to seeing them
Four!
*virg-ality
Martin is pure gold for me. Just want to see more of his work. And hear more from him.
the best way to see more of Martin's work is to read something he wrote, because he enjoys writing, which is something I really like about him
I really don’t think they get enough credit for how talented they are.
I give them a lot of credit for how funny they aren't Doesn't that count?
I want to make sure Martin talks! Lol
lol at Mike not quite getting the “well oil is meals for wheels” joke
That's actually a pretty good joke.
This is the best podcast episode I’ve listened to in a long time
Killer interview by Mike…harnessed a whole lot of comic genius feeding off each other
This was such an enjoyable podcast. Funny, poignant, and sweet. I really felt like I caught a glimpse into Ben, John and Martin's real lives. Also loved hearing some of the backstories into how skits evolved and their histories,
How rare and how wonderful these 3 come together to bring us all such laughter and joy into our lives ! This was the jolt SNL needed-

Love the Mike n' Mart duo
Love the mood…love the lighting.

How was that only an hour? I would have watched multiple episodes of these guys 👏🏼 Love you Mike and PDD boys
Thanks for the reupload! much better:)
I think the exact same thing, saying, "You dont miss." Every short is hilarious.
I was an extra that didn’t make it into the shot on a man called Otto! So proud to be in a movie with Mike and John!
First time I’ve had to watch after listening. These guys are so good!
Holy moly, Top level Swifties too, these guys are taking off. The new Sandlers
2:50 oh snap did not realize Martin was also a CT boy here here from a fellow home-stater
PDD on Pete Holmes podcast was more chaotic because cmon it's Pete Holmes😂. But, this pod is awesome, too. Great interview!
AH HA! THEY WRITE THE ENTIRE SNL SHOW! I KNEW IT! (kidding...but honestly awesome to hear they do more than write for themselves. Thanks Mike!)
I did not know that Steve Higgins was John's dad. It's really funny and a testament to how talented this group is
Nepo baby’s unite

They are the best thing on SNL
It’s true
Their ideas are don’t know where they come from
WOOOOO! Dream come true love the pdd boys!
Really enjoyed this episode. Subscribed and look forward to other shows.
Love these dudes ❤❤❤
i love PDD!! they are so talented.
I heard kaput as well honestly
Who wouldn't like napkin pants?😂
Great conversation!
I think of Otto every time I shop at ALDIs.
Lovely!!
Martin, let Martin out. We love him so much.
I love Mikey B., he gets it. Best comedy Manboy
47:27 yes!!
this was lovely.

omg i love workaholics
@occiferkodi it’s their joke
Umm. Martin legit watches the other two as if he’s waiting to be given unspoken permission to speak lol
I can never remember their name.. so now i just call them the lonelier island :) Whoever wrote that.. well done
There’s something Freaks and geeks/American pie/ Workaholics about these dudes
I know people say that Please Don’t Destroy is the only good thing about SNL. But I genuinely think the whole show has improved as a consequence
I seriously just want to hang out w comedians
The SNL writers should be there for the goodnights
So fucking good
I am also one people who says I only watch SNL for PDD, whoops
Ok. Can I just point out, there's always been a very odd connection between Savannah and New Jersey? I'm honestly so weirded out right now, but in a good way.
Did yalll get your name from adventure time season 1. The forest of bad guysss
Mike seems like he has a crush on Martin
Can I touch you is not great for radio!
@user-ve5eu2es1d what the hell jess
I’m not sure he let Martin leave the studio
What the hell lol make me smile

@mike_birbiglia Wasn't Martin In the The Holdovers as the teen guy? :D
Martin Lorne wasn’t talking about your eyeballs…
i heard caput :D
I thought he said Kaput too
I'm sick of SNL trying to make these guys a thing like a much less funny Lonely Island. I actually think the rest of snl has been reallly good lately!
Martin and Birbigs should get a ski house together. And not ski.

these guys act way too serious to be comedians. Only funny if scripted i guess

Wow. Idk what is going on here. Either Mike is a horrible interviewer, or these guys are incredibly awkward. Possibly both?
