  • Review of the Brymen BM257s multimeter from an electrician's point of view. Check out some of the features this multimeter has, paired with the Probe Master Softie 8000 Leads and accessories. It a great good quality multipurpose setup that doesn't cost too much. I'm comparing is with my last meter that was a Fluke 116, I want something comparable but a little cheaper as I've lost 2 already of the years gone by.

I have a BM257s myself, use it at work to maintain and repair arcade games. Perfect meter for the job. It's a great little meter, perfect size, rugged and accurate. Love the quick auto-ranging. Have had mine for a year and it's been great. I live in the US and bought it through TME in Poland. Reasonable pricing and shipment costs, and they got it to me in just a couple of days.

I've been using mine for 4 weeks and it's been great , BTW your jobs sound like it would be good fun, fixing arcade machine. Making a retro arcade machine is on my list of things to do, I want to make a NBA Jam machine like the one from the 90'

@@JamesEggleston Not too difficult.. You could find one complete, or find a board and an appropriate JAMMA cabinet to assemble it into. 4 player Konami cabinets are good candidates and they are fairly common. You could also do a two player version in any number of two player cabinets. Good luck!

Newer Brymen Meters such as BM235/BM786 have longer backlight times of 10-15 minutes instead of 15-30 seconds, 4v diode test instead of 1v, turning beep off indefinitely, higher sensitivity EF-H & EF-L. I really wish Brymen would update all their older Meters to these newer specs

I'm doing an electrical apprenticeship and I love your videos. They are incredibly informative.

Coming from Telstra we used alligator clips on our test instruments almost exclusively. When I bought my first multimeter I couldn't believe most of them weren't capable of taking alligator clips out of the box. It's what I use for everything except probing pcbs and screw terminals.

All multimeters should have alligator clips

Why did you choose this one and not BM235?

I was about to purchase a BM235 but now I am thinking that BM257s may be a better option. BM235 measures LED's while BM257s don't. 235 measures higher capacity (nF) but 257 go as low as pikoF. 235 illuminate the display while in continuity but 257 starts lower on AC/DC and current. It also measures temp to 1000C. Seems more features added than taken away.

Hi, what do you think of the Brymen BM257s ? Is this the best multimeter on the market in this price range ?
