@@politelyvulgarvernacular not only am I a hunter but I also I live and work 24/7 in the Canadian north they literally eat In my back yard and lick road salt off my truck at work… I can straight tell you your wrong and you should really st fu because your not just kinda wrong your entirely f king wrong not one thing you said was true, if you haven’t came across a Moose who’s fallen on ice and can’t get up then you don’t know moose dude…. Yes the bulls are tough and have archaic level endurance but only in the rut though, they are clumsy Fkin bean pole idiots for the other ten months of the year and the cows are always that dumb. I once saw a cow moose in a ditch staring directly at a truck driving in its path but he had enough room on the road and she was eating being dumb anyways and she reached her head up from the ditch and held it just above the road level with the bumper of the haul truck (that it not only saw coming but was shaking the earth from its weight oh and louder than a small plane when it goes by) and held it there looking at what I presume was the bush bar until it got 3/4 decapitated by it……. Trust me they fall on ice man they have hard hooves and bad weight distribution for ice with a dumb moose brain in their head lol we fall on ice ffs and we have boots with grips and giant brains so shouldn’t be that hard for you to grasp

Any legal hunter would have done the same. Unfortunately we get a bad reputation because the media does not distinguish between illegal poachers and honest hard working hunters. We are natures stewards and we would sooner see an old cow moose (like the one in this video) survive one more winter and birth calves in the spring, than illegally harvest her just for a hoot.
It's time to change the narrative, we hunters are the modern conservationists who will ensure the survival and success of all species native to this great land.

@@sdpy15 Or some of us have known some of even well respected hunters that act like they know better than most other people. Even those that know these animals intimately from long years spent alongside and studying their behavior. It’s not all from media when individuals do little to create decent relations with other sectors of society. Just witnessed this from another angle where people who have contempt for other regions or past times dump all over individuals they have contempt for. Time to begin taking responsibility and dropping the attitudes that alienate people.

    Well done Mate!
I've happened upon a young bull that broke through ice in a shallow swampy area about 6 years back myself, and was exhausted similar to this cow.
It took better than an hour, chopping a 20' channel to shore, and rigging straps behind him and some slow patient winch work, but he still had the will to work with me and get himself to solid ground.
Takes a certain type to be willing to stop and assist these huge and potentially dangerous animals. Always happy to see another compassionate person, and gives some hope for humanity in this messed up world!

When I moved to my cabin in the woods of Colorado at 8500', I was encouraged by my neighbors to learn to hunt for my own meat. Upon taking hunter safety, and learning the honorable ways of hunting by my mentors and friends, my heart and mind saw that one can honor an animal one harvests or hunts for food.
I don't feel the need to change your mind on this subject, however some insights into hunting might actually make you appreciate it, or at minimum understand what hunting is about. it did not change for me until I experienced it for myself.

The proper protocol is what he did, gently coax it and provide a bit of stability so she can get her feet. Sand would be ideal, or even throwing rock salt down (though that could be illegal depending on the state as it would attract animals to the road and may result in more animals being hit by vehicles).
