      If I may ask, what year? I've been on the verge of pulling the trigger for years. I've always been worried by the AJ133S's (5.0L V8) reliability.

      @@flyingphoenix113 it's a 2011 facelift with low miles. I wouldn't worry about the engine. They fit it in the Range Rovers and all the performance Jags. They're pretty solid.

    Wonderful video, great driving and a wonderful cat! :) Just a note, having done a few track days myself, getting your hand positioning right can totally change how accurate you can be going into a corner, get that left hand off the steering spoke and on the rim! ;) Hehe. Thanks for a great video, look forward to more!

    • @MAXREVS
      @MAXREVS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha!! You know, ever since I put that video Live it's something that became apparent to me. I didn't realise my left hand was so badly placed on the wheel. I notice my lack of correct hand positioning every time I watch the video, so I'm glad you actually took the time to comment on this!
      Is one supposed to hold the wheel at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock? Not something I've really looked into as my track days so far have been for fun, not for the most accurate racing line.

    • @Spac8
      @Spac8 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MAX REVS I did the same thing! Watched back footage of myself and noticed a few bad habits! Having your hand on the spoke is comfortable though, I do it with my other hand when in traffic! Haha.
      Quarter to three is perfect and try to not let the wheel "feed" through your hands, as by keeping them in one place, you always know where the straight ahead is by putting your hands back to a quarter to three. Obviously there are some corners to which this rule doesn't apply, but it's a good rule of thumb anyhow. Again, thanks for a great video, look forward to more from you. :)

    Great video but you need to work on your hand placement on the wheel. 9 and 3 is where you want them to be

      No worries. Stiffer suspension would help when cornering, but other than that it's a great experience. A very capable car!

      Finn Martin Johansen I just bought one a few weeks ago. So far running costs have been very low compared to other cars. I replaced the cabin filter for £9, the air filters for £15 (both of them), and got a brake fluid booked soon for £55. I get around 34mpg on the motorway and 27mpg combined. This would be unheard of for an M3 in my opinion. Get one, I'm certainly not regretting it so far :)

      You probably know this already but just incase. Black metallic paint is very unforgiving at showing swirl marks and scratches. Looks amazing mind you, just high maintenance to keep it looking perfect.
      Not sure how much of an issue it is today, but cars with sunroofs used to have less torsional rigidity as a result of cutting a hole in the roof. This affected handling in the corners.
      Maybe something to consider if you can't find a model with a sunroof?

    Fantastic video! I just bought one of these and Ed and Divine Detail mentioned your channel. It felt like I was driving with you in that video, such a refined noise from the engine. What was your tyre and brake set up? What did it cost you overall? Hope to see you at the track some day!

    • @MAXREVS
      @MAXREVS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey great to hear from another Divine Detail customer, and thanks for your kind comments on the video! I've since invested more money into a dedicated microphone, so if you liked the audio in this video wait for my next one.
      Tyres and brakes are standard. When I initially bought the Jag XFR I didn't expect to take it on track days. I soon learnt that 500bhp power needed to be unleashed off public roads!
      For the record the tyres are Dunlop Sport Maxx 285/30Z R20. I think I need more confidence on track, braking later and less before better tyres will help me out! However both brake and tyre upgrades are on the horizon!
      The track day event in the video was for customers of the Harwoods group, so not open to the general public, however the Goodwood website has details of public track events they host, as well as other private companies like Open Track which I've used before.
      Just check the maximum number of cars allowed on track at a given time (less is better imho though you will pay more for the event). Furthermore don't forget the noise rating for the event. It was quite easy to breach 98db.
      I'm attending another Harwoods events in July 2017 at Goodwood. The events are open to the public to spectate so why not pop along and get a feel for the track before paying up hard earnt cash?

    • @marqfordeauto
      @marqfordeauto 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a customer (yet...) :) saving up to get the paintwork corrected later in the year
      That's really interesting, i'd love to compare the audio from inside the cabin with the stock exhaust. I'm thinking of going with the TL Jaguar exhaust upgrade - it's a replacement of the entire exhaust system custom built for the XFR by TL Jag. The video on facebook sounds insane! Be great to compare it with that too.
      I've got Dunlop on the front and Toyo's on the rear. No issues so far, but like you I haven't found the limits of their grip yet - obviously need a safe open place to do that. Tempted to go with the Conti Sport 6's I had on my BMW, they were incredible. Also hear good things about XFRs fitted with the Michelin MPSS'
      I don't have any confidence in my brakes at the moment. I'm not sure what the previous owners had fitted to the front but the rears are Pagid. Nobody can convince me they're any good, I've always had bad experiences with Pagid. Waiting for the right time to go back to a full Brembo set up and replace brake fluid in a couple of weeks as it's almost a chocolate brown. No confidence as I almost binned the car in the first week I had it - brakes were properly warmed up but slowing down under hard braking from 110 the brake fade (I assume) was unbelievable. Car showed no signs of stopping and to quote Clarkson, 'a lot of poo just shot out!'
      Thanks for the tip on Goodwood, will definitely check that out! None of my hobbies are cheap though, will have to see how it fits into the air show calendar lol :D

      +Mubashar Sapru
      Your planned exhaust upgrade sounds mental! Good for you👍🏼.
      I'm cautious changing the brake setup away from the manufacturer specs. Prior to the track day I had new pads fitted all around (car came with new discs), and I did a brake fluid change as I didn't want to trust my life based on someone else's service routine!
      I love hard acceleration and braking. Track days aren't about racing for me, it's about doing all those things which would get you arrested on the public roads. Nothing tests your brake geometry like 140mph and then progressively harder onto the brakes. Could do that all day, that is until I run out of fuel which is quicker than you think on a trackday!
      With the standard brakes I had no issues with brake fade. Goodwood is a nice track with plenty of straights to cool the engine and brakes as you tear along. Unlike Brands Hatch which personally wasn't to my liking. Too short a track, too many cars on track, more geared for race cars (when I went at least half the cars were track cars not road cars).
      By the way it's FREE to spectate at Goodwood👍🏼

    • @marqfordeauto
      @marqfordeauto 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah same, I don't want to change from original spec, just make sure I have brembo pads and the best discs available. Which pads did you use for the track? I've heard mixed things about EBC pads. 100% agree, even full dealership history doesn't cut it these days, best to go with what you've done on the car.
      Haha yeah I bet. I just wonder how C63 and M3 owners get on because the XFR is so much economical than those cars. How many laps did you empty the tank in?
      Ahh yeah I get you now, will add it to my list :)

      @MAXREVS  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Even though I have sold the XFR, to-date, taking my Jag XFR out on track at Goodwood has been my best motoring experience ever. It was so good, I next did a track day at Brands Hatch. That was terrible. Too many cars on track at once, drivers very competitive, marshalls not very strict. So pick your track carefully and check how many cars allowed at any one time. Is the Jag heavy and a bit bouncy through corners? Yeah, but it’s all great fun! I’d definitely give it a go at least.

      The Jag was a family saloon and my Cayman is just about me so very different in that sense. The XFR is getting on a bit so maintenance wise there could be some bills. Definitely prefer the compact two seater Cayman as a fun car. The XFR drinks fuel like anything. Expensive to run.
