    Great video. Thank you for keeping it simple! Do we include DEF gallons purchased in IFTA quarterly filings or just the fuel?

    to find the website you need, which also usually has a video to help, in google search IFTA followed by the state you are centered in such as "IFTA California" will usually show the proper government filing site as the first link

    you provided information only for 2 columns, but the IFTA filling have 3 Columns: Total miles, Taxable miles and Tax Paid Gallons, and you only give the total miles and Tax paid Gallons, so base on your illustration how to get the Taxable miles?

  • @Mike-Palmer

    You really didnt explain how to file the ifta. You just stated what most people already know, keep track of the miles and gallons. How to file the Ifta should be the piece of paper im looking at that wants me to add I and J then line 6 with 7 and so on, and the tax credits, etc...

    You need to stop looking for the cheapest fuel, you will end up paying more taxes, just buy the mostly expensive and you will have reimburse
    Is like making a savings account

    Educational is power. Very informative. I have a question. Driver A has one truck that is leased to a mega company and runs OTR and that said mega company file his fuel taxes. Why is it that every week fuel taxes are taken out of his settlement? Is driver A also paying for the mega fleet trucks fuel taxes as well? If so, this is unfair practices.

    good evening, I can truly appreciate your direct simple approach for teaching upon ITFA reporting. I wish to ask you a question with the lease purchase truck I have. The company gave me a fuel card but was dipping into my settlement each week with no cut off with the fuel deductions so I up tanned my own fuel card. now, they haven't said anything about the fuel purchases but what about the reporting of fuel. Do I just not concern myself with it or do I register with my state IFTA , and If so, the truck has a present IFTA sticker on it so I just lease the truck but now pay for my own fuel. Please advise

    • @jordan0991
      @jordan0991 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So from my knowledge if you are running your own plates on that truck then you would have a IFTA account, if you are not running your own plates and they are not registered to you than no you do not have to file anything, that is the company’s responsibility, I do recommend holding onto your fuel receipts for tax reasons and if they were to ever ask you for them for their own IFTA account purposes.

    Thank you for this video! I have a question about the difference between Total Miles and Taxable Miles. I’m also filing in my home state Indiana. How do I know what the taxable miles are?

    • @brandonlindsaycpa
      @brandonlindsaycpa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my experience, it's the same. Generally, nontaxable miles are the miles traveled through places that aren't apart of IFTA or require you to obtain a fuel permit to travel through.

    How do you track how many miles you’ve driven in each state?

    • @thereckchanic4709
      @thereckchanic4709 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The keep trucking ELD automatically does this crossing each state line. Back in the old days we used to write down the odometer entering each state with the date then do the math to get the actual miles travel in each state. Now it's easy peesy

    • @leonorlopez3217

      Is basically the same,but in case certain miles are not taxable you have to excluded. Like GA they had a tax exemption

    Thank you for the information! Do you add empty (deadhead) miles as well to your taxable IFTA miles ?
    I get my miles from ELD and it seems to be accurate but the miles from ELD are more than in my trip reports because of the empty miles.
    Thank you!

      In Indiana it’s through the Motor Carrier Services. There should be a similar government division/department in your state.
