    First quarter for us since we are new in this industry. Just finished completing my return but decided to view this video before I submitted it. You hit the nail in the head with the prepaid receipt issue I am having with my driving. Luckily for the most part the rewards app contains the info needed.

  • @woodsbikes6130
    @woodsbikes6130 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Another piece of very good info Mr. McGill. My boss at my old job was very adamant about submitting the final receipt from prepaid fuel.
    So for all those folks who don't quite understand, just be sure to get the final receipt when you prepay your fuel. Whoever does the taxes, will not appreciate having to do the extra work to find the total number of gallons that were purchased.
    And if you prepay more than your tank(s) take, be sure to get that final receipt as well. That will completely end the transaction (sale) and the overage/change will be returned to the card.
    Keep up the good info and stay safe everyone.

    ELD is a good way to get mileage data, I use my online Trucking office software, it keeps all miles and routes just by entering the load information. Then I transfer that information over on to my IFTA plus account and all I do from there is print sign the form and mail. Take about 5 minutes to do. Also Kentucky, New York, New Mexico and Oregon are filed separately.

    Can you do a video on how you know when to your ifta? When is it time? How you know when the end if the quarter is?

    • @sweettee051988
      @sweettee051988 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The 1st quarter is due in April(January-march). 2nd in July(April-june). 3rd in October(july-september) and 4th in January(october-december). Hope that helps. My husband and I have our authority and I handle all of that. New Mexico, new York, Kentucky and Oregon have their own individual taxes that you have to pay quarterly also. But you still include them with your ifta. You can only pay Oregon monthly for your 1st year and after you make a year, you pay quarterly. I made a short video on how I do mines on our trucking channel but it's not this detailed lol.

    Hi, back in 2021 I watched your video for the audit, I did exactly as you explained it in your video and I passed smoothly! They even congratulated me having everything quick and in order just like it happened to you! Anyways, I ended up closing it because of economic reasons. Now, I recently opened an LLC in the state of IN, and I have to idea how to create an IRP account or file IFTA for this truck I purchased for the first time. Indianapolis agents told me to do it online and then make an appointment to go in person. But I live in Jeffersonville, 2hrs away. Do you have any video creating IRP and IFTA? Please advise, and thank you in advance 🙏🏼.

    If you traveled miles in a state and did not buy fuel you may have to pay that state. Say you run Georgia to ohio and you always buy your fuel in Georgia, you will have to pay. Some states reimburse you for excess fuel for miles driven in a state some do not. Also if you go through Kentucky, your carrier must have a KYU number. They will shut you down

What happens in a situation when a person does not go back into the station and get the receipt with the break down of gallons paid for? Would the person try to calculate that number by rough estimate or would the person have to note this value in a different way for the IFTA filing? Thanks for the feedback.
