I learned tip 2 the hard way. Spent all day on 1 blood raven and got probably the best model I’ve painted to date…and couldn’t recreate it cuz the red pigments in the brush washing mug changed the Mephiston/scarlet red into something else. Being slightly colour blind, I wasn’t able to recreate the colour at all lol
The cloth thing isn't such a problem if you use specifically lint free cloths. I went the opposite route, paper towels to cloths. Also worth mentioning because a lot of painters wont tell you this, Ataraxia being one of the few good exceptions. When you finish mixing a paint on your palette or wet palette, rinse the brush, wipe it to damp, not totally dried out and then pick up the paint from your palette fresh. Also always make sure your brush is dampened, not wet or dripping before putting into paint whether in a pot or on a palette, as the moistness helps wick the paint off and stops paint from that initial pickup drying in the ferrule and splayiing the hairs of your brush.
Just found your channel. Have a like and a comment on the algorithm. I find a targeted drybrush on space marines armor is way easier and honestly looks way less fake than highlighting all the edges.
my tip for changing water: Get an EMPTY cup and get one of those squeeze bottles with a spout on it. You can get one for like 2 bucks. Just rinse your brush out in small bursts with no effort and you dont have to keep a separate cup for metallic paint. Its literally like having a sink on your desk.
A paper towel has issues with fibers and dust just like a cloth. The improvement may be that you're more likely to use a new paper towel, instead of an old cloth. I use paper towels and have been considering switching to a sponge because the paper towel definitely has tiny bits of paper fiber and dust that gets stuck to the brush and ruins a nice smooth blend.
@@xedniw23 Don't keep them out in the open for too long though or those pesky little fibers and dust from other sources settle on them. Is why the paper kitchen towel appeals I think, as you can just discard them for a fresh sheet. For a permanent solution though some kind of sponge or lint free cloth you keep the dust and dander off of should work just as well and you can throw them in the washing machine afterwards or in the sponges case wash them out in the sink with water and a little dish soap.
Dude I used to think that but I swear even if I had a clean one, I had particles in my paint and on my mini. Because those things gather dust like hell!!

You can also use to pots of water, one for cleaning and one to pick up water from
Excellent tips! I had never thought about using cloth to dry the brushes. I really like the direction of your videos now!!!
Thanks bro!! But don’t use cloth ahah
Favorite youtuber, even more than Russel Brandt!
Im very guilty of using old work shirts as a brush drying tool. You make a lot of sense about the various inclusions that can come from them.
*takes notes*
Good ahah

I have to try that! Thanks!!
Never mind the water, I need to remember to clean my f**king brushes properly, especially after washes/ metallics 🤦🏼♂️
And use SEPARATE cups!!!

so what about Microfiber cloths? would they work any differently than standard cloth?
@@ivanupton6586 Honestly, I'm not sure. I'd have to check how much they shed.
I never had any issues with paper towel though! 🤷♀️
Great tips!!! Many thanks for the video
Thank you!!
I use a rag to wipe my brushes... never considered fibre paticles getting in the bristles. Rag binned, kitchen roll aquired. Thanks for the tip.
Great! Glad to be helpful!
Love the hedge highlighting! Did you know that you can add 'b's to the start so then it'd be 'bedge bighlighting'. For your health!
Ahaha yea!!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thanks 😊

Fausto :D

I want to highlight the edginess of this video 😂
Ahahah alway edgy 😜
Don´t EVER change your water! It´s like free enamel XD
Jokes on you I don't edge highlight anything.
Umm use clean cloth to clean things. I'll help much more than the whole paper towel thing...
Swedish dish cloth: it’s just a thin sponge they work amazing and are 0 lint or debris
