Hello, I would like to describe the problem I am facing. To commence, the mouse wheel was absolutely fine when, a few months later, each time I scroll either up or down, the screen scrolls in such a weird way. To give an example, if I am scrolling down, it scrolls up then down then freezes and continues going up or down. Do you think it is because of my mouse? Furthermore, is there any way to fix this problem? Cause it's really annoying.
P.S the mouse is wireless 4TECH
Try the same mouse on a different pc just to check if it's a mouse or a setting issue.

In my case I kept the speed same but brought down vertical and horizontal scrolling to 2. Worked liked a charm.

it doesnt work🥲my problem was the mouse wheel when i scroll down it does scroll down, but sometimes it goes up
probably dirt and dust is blocking its proper functioning. if not check your drivers

this helped but the problem in scrolling i have is while scrolling, the screen slightly goes up when i want it to go down and sometimes it freezes, the freeze one is fixed so thanks for the tutorial!!!

My scroller still doesn't work, the function of pressing the wheel down still works but the scroller still doesn't. There's no driver updates either.

i have a really old mouse that works well. this morning i removed what i thought was accumulated lint from the wheel, not realizing this was the felt needed to operate the wheel. now the wheel is essentially non functional and the felt removed is in tatters and gone. is there any way to make this functional again? oops!
Did absolubly nothing, Perhaps it made it worse.
I just had the wheel of my mouse being a little bit unresponsive so I decided to take apart to found out it's filthy inside. Got rid of the gunk and painstakingly reassemble the mouse. Problem gone.

Accidently thrown water on my mouse and it has since dried and recovered. The wheel scroll didn't work immediately but after changing the setting to 5 it worked. Stupidly I changed it back and now it doesn't work anymore, even with changing it back to 5 again. Any ideas?

Just throwing this out to the community. I was troubleshooting lag issues and turned off "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them." It's in settings > devices > mouse. The result was unless I clicked on an item (window, application) I was not able to scroll. I finally sorted it on my own by turning back on. But when I searched online I was not finding anything that addressed the problem. It wasn't an issue per se but a setting. But when you don't know what's going on you think there is a bug somewhere.

Click on Start and click on Control panel.
In the control panel select view by to Small icon or large icon.
Click on mouse and navigate to the following location: Device settings > Synaptics touchpad > settings > virtual scrolling > uncheck the option "enable vertical scrolling" box.
Check if it helps you disable the touchpad scrolling.

if your hardware is worn down then settings aren't going to fix this at all

everytime i use the wheel button on my mouse my cursor suddenly disappears but then i have to keep using it till my cursor reappears butin the end the wheel dosent work and all it does is just dissapears then reappears if it makes sence

my wireless mouse vertical scroll not working only on web browser, however it is working fine in windows. why???????????
MINE GOT WORSE! sometimes it works smoothly but my main problem is when i scroll about each 3rd scroll makes the screen go/jump oposite of the direction i am scrolling, sometimes it just jumps up and down from the same point while i constantly scroll in the same direction

bro its easy just take presss hardly on the scroll button and scroll up and up with pressing veru herdly it will solve the problem i have been using this trick
@keshav5725 Yea but in games that the scroll wheel is needed, it still doesn't work. That only works when you're trying to scroll the web, not in actual video games
What mine does is if I am scrolling down it will jerk back up and scroll up for a fraction of a second and it is very irritating

I need help unlike most scroll wheels where when you scroll it stops after it scrolls once mine scrolls infinity and whenever I press shift in Minecraft with the mouse scrolling it keeps on moving my camera so fast :(
