Enjoyed your fabric/pattern haul. Fair warning: I made nl6340. Had more volume in waist area than the envelope shows. The ties in back ...... Well, I discovered I really hate back ties as they tend to look like the dress didn't fit so s tie was thrown on to try to fix the problem. Now I was able to save the dress by taking off ties, adding a casing and elastic. Just be careful of waistline volume! Can't wait to see what you do with the new fabrics and patterns!! Happy sewing!
Sylvia Hilxebrant Thanks for the heads up, Sylvia. I made NL6340 and what a mess. I ended up putting fisheye darts in the back and putting the ties in those. I also made an inset/facing finish to go in the v-neckline as it was too low. This is definitely not a pattern I’ll make again. It worked out in the end but way too much trouble. I like your elastic idea - I think that would have more easily solved my problem too.
Me too!! I also love watching pattern and fabric hauls. The patterns I find extremely useful as I see something I’ve never seen before and immediately want it lol xxx
I'm finding that I discover most patterns these days from TH-camrs. But the thing I didn't realise until recently was that Instagram is the place to go when you want to see how something fits. Pattern Review is also a great site for that. It has started saving me from that inevitable problem of loving a style, making it up and then finding it looks awful on me.
Love your book sleeves Jen and those special printed fabrics are great. Have you checked out Vivmom, she does fabric and vintage 60’s & 70’s pattern hauls too. And makes dusters!

@@TodayinJensSewingRoom sorry I didn't get to you sooner on this pattern ---- it looks so Florida but a mess it was! I'm with you, not again.
I like using a shirtdress as a duster. It's a versatile piece in a wardrobe.
You cannot beat a good shirtdress. I think everyone needs one right next to their LBD.
@@TodayinJensSewingRoom What is LBD?
Little Black Dress
Patterns start at 08:10.
THANK YOU. I should put those timestamps in the description box. So helpful!
Love it.

With a large abdomen, for M7546 and NL6340, try placing the belts a little higher. An empire waistline is forgiving to those with a large abdomen.
That doesn't seem to work as well for me - I get that maternity bulge thing and boy after 5 kids I think I've left those days LONG behind!

Yep - all the sewing TH-camrs are doing me in with wanting new patterns!
Hi, Jen. I love pattern hauls too. I almost always discover a pattern that I want to add to my collection. Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff Jen, love your enthusiasm! Cant wait to see what you make with it!
I can't wait to get started. C'mon, first of the year!
Thanks for pointing out M7574! It's on my list now.
I'm looking forward to seeing if that one looks good longer. I may have to shorten it but it's so cute!
Where did you pick up your patterns?
Can't remember! Probably Joanns and Hobby Lobby.
Ooooh! That long ruffle on the peasant blouse sounds pretty. B6455.
On the sleeve? I agree.
