I watched the BBC report featuring LCPL Faircloth as a freshman in college in my dorm room. It was a formative moment and convinced me that I was in the wrong place. It inspired me to enlist. I never knew he was killed until now. I have experienced my own losses in my 16 years active duty. This was exceptionally powerful to watch. Regardless of the legitimacy of the Iraq war, the valor of those that served in Fallujah was awe inspiring. Endless respect to those that have served there and everywhere else. My best friend was with bravo 1/1 fighting his ass off and I was in the airwing at a non deployable squadron bitching about not being over there. After listening to him tell me what they all went through and him telling me that he would have went to the airwing if he could do it again.
In combat "the circle shrinks to the handful of people that are there with you. Nobody and nothing else matters." No truer words were said by this narrator. Been there done that, felt the pain, bled the blood.
Absolutely brother I tell people that all the time. The people that say you fought for your country are wrong. We fought for each other over there and to get home.
This Doc, gave me a heart ache. I lost a good friend as well in Afghanistan as he laid next to me. I held the man until his last breath, what a way to man up at 19.. I had no choice..
That sounds horrifying, when life puts you in those places and leaves you no choice it shows you who you truly are. No one should have to do that and hold a friend in their last moments. Your character is astounding.

Patriots? Please explain how invading a country in which they lied about invading, murdering a million people is patriotic? Thats what Americans really need to know.
This was an incredibly powerful piece for the 20th anniversary of the battle. Very well put together. This was respectfully visceral history and those Marines to include their now surrogate mother made you feel some pain but also an immense measure of gratitude that such a fierce but humbly courageous group of young men and women can face horrific combat so that most of us can rest easy as a result.
What did they offer? What did you gain from the Iraq war? Did they find comprehensive nuclear weapons? Haha, it's just a lie and you came up with it in order to occupy Iraq. You only destroyed this poor country for the sake of oil and seizing money from Iraq. It was a beautiful country. You destroyed it and the Iraqi people are suffering from the occupation to this day. Working on my floors, scraping old adhesive off, and balling my eyes off. This is the most moving piece I've ever watched. Thanks for making this. Thank you to all the service men and women.
God bless our veterans. Not just the ones that fell in battle. But all of those brave men and women who sacrificed so much. For a cause they felt just in.
Wow this is really touching my heart! The amount of strength Brad's Mom has... The amount of brotherhood, feeling of responsibility and also guilt the other Marines still have. I wish You all the best and keep fighting! Greetings from a german air force soldier. Never been in combat, but if I ever were - I wish I could fight for my fellow soldiers even half as heroically as those Marines. Respect!
Semper Fi Brothers! You did your duty and stood up. And Doc, you are the heart and soul of every Marine Platoon. Don't ever feel like you failed. We're Marines and death is part of the job, but it's always a comfort knowing you're right there with us. Once again, our leaders and government let us down in Fallujah. "Our primary concern was civilian and innocent casualties". Wrong, winning should be the primary concern. Fallujah should have been leveled before any Marine or Soldier was sent in.
Today is Veteran's Day, 2024 and just happened across this video. Or maybe I didnt. Because there's absolutely nothing I can imagine epitomizing the Meaning of this day than what i just watched. The brotherhood, the sacrifice. And then, the aftermath....on his fellow soldiers and his family and then, the incredible way that his mother stands SO strong that SHE literally becomes the catharsis for his brothers still struggling w his death. Most Americans just dont know what we're doing when we send our sons n daughters to fight for us. I'm sure i dont. But, in many, if not most, cases what we get back is a broken shell of the person we sent. As an American, and to Any serviceman or woman who has served..... THANK YOU. I appreciate it very much.
You know, I've watched any and every documentary on the Iraq war I can find. I have had so many friends and their families that were directly affected by this war. In one of these documentaries, A speech was made and one particular line stuck with me for the last 10+ years. "The choices we make today will echo in eternity". The story, better the legacy of every single one of these men whos names you may have never heard of is a testament to the strength and will of the American people. To witness the horrors these men have been subjected to, seeing their brothers strewn across the floor yet they grit their teeth put their heads down and press on. If any one of you ever question the determination of America and wish ill will against one of our own. You may get one but behind every one there is the complete unwavering resolve of the United States Military. Thank you all and your families for your sacrifice.
Solid documentary. I was with 1/9. As Marines it is our duty to take care of the families of the fallen. Never fought in Iraq but I pray if I did, that I could be even half as courageous as these gentleman.
My father fought hard in post 9/11 Afghanistan and Iraq, he was a Recon sniper for the Marine Corps..Though he's happily retired and doing great in life, he still struggles with PTSD and has to see a therapist from time to time. This documentary hit me and made me think of all the insanity he had to go through, but his true love will always be the Marines..it was his life. SEMPER FI!!!🇺🇲🇺🇲

Soldiers / Sailors / Airmen / Marines... all those who serve in harm's way are heros.... Happy Birthday Marines from a retired Soldier... One Team - One Fight !!!
My work buddy was born in the US his family moved to mexico when he was 1 year old . When he was 17 he came back joined the marines, 9/11 happened and switched his MOS to a 0331 he was there in Fallujah with 2/1 . He had spent most of his life in Mexico moved back to the US and decided to serve what a man
the way those two soldiers showed the medic/corpsman the love, comfort and reassurance that very moment was not only heartbreaking but also one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. they instantly saw the burden of grief no man should carry so long and they acted immediately! beautiful absolutely beautiful!
The sad part is this battle didn't have to happen. The first battle of Fallujah the european press coverage was so egregious and outrageous against the US military using artillery and aerial bombing against the city that they basically forced the US into infantry going door to door and eventually withdrawing from the city. The US military could have shelled and bombed the city from a stand off position until the city surrendered. Hence this second battle later that year the US forces again going door to door with no artillery support wouldn't have been necessary. Politics overriding basic warfare tactics always sacrifice the ground troops unnecessarily. I think that's criminal.
Was in panjaii district kandahar in 2008 was crazy. Canadians were in charge of kandahar the birth place of the taliban. Canadian infantry princess patricias canadian light infantry
So goes that long line back into the depths of human history. Brave men fighting wars, dying for causes that history won't remember. The man in the arena of combat in many ways mirrors the stories of mankind. We owe so much to those who fight to protect we, who can not. They must be remembered by the citizens who were spared. I have a friend who lost his brother in Vietnam. All I can say is I have great respect for anyone who served (especially in combat). May God bless and protect the warrior.
These men and his mother show so much love for this young Marine's sacrifice. Even after his passing, he is remembered in so many ways. May all who sacrificed their life never be forgotten!
My uncle was a medic in Vietnam,he always felt great pain in his heart for the soldiers he couldn't save no matter how much he tried to help them, seemed to hurt him more than his own horrible wounds on his body, rest in peace uncle and you did the best you could, much honour and respect to you and to the soldiers in the video, god bless you all 🌹♥️
One of my best buds was a “Combat Adjutant” in this battle. It was quite literally every Marine a riflemen. Him and I had a couple to many one night and he opened up about it. Stories were crazy and heartbreaking. Semper Fi my brothers. 🇺🇸
I was there as an admin clerk takin pop shots and calling in coordinates for qrf augmented to conveys for rct one u der the command of capt Kimber. Lived at the mayor's compound for a few months . When I returned home I kept seeing my leader on the cover of marine corps times
Absolutely love this. I’m really at a loss for words. But I will say that I cried a few times and you guys truly give your lives, and a piece of you when you were over there. You come back a changed person. I hope more people see this. It’s very eye opening to us civilians. I appreciate you for making this & for all of your sacrifices. ❤
Honestly, from the heart, god bless the warfighters. You guys are the true heroes in this world. Prayers go out to each and every man lost on the battle field and those that come home to carry the scars of freedom. I cannot fathom the loss felt by the families of these heroes that paid the ultimate price.
I have seen the footage of 3rd platoon in Fallujah so many times and didn't know that the most prominent guy in that footage (Faircloth) didn't make it. It makes me so sad, God Bless you Faircloth and rest easy, you did a great job.
Holy shit. This brought tears to my eyes, fellas. Was in Balad at same time. Thank you for coming together and telling your story. Thank you for being real. Thank you War Horse for putting this together. May you all find the peace that you deserve. Finally, from someone that wasn’t even there, but knows first hand the cruelty of fate in war - it wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault.
Great documentary. As a MARINE VETERAN, I thank you all for serving. You are all my brothers and sisters. I love each and every one of you. The memories of combat will be there until the day you die. But rest assured that you made a difference and the world is a safer place because of your valiant actions. May the Lord almighty God bless you and yours. SEMPER FI
Outstanding, moving, and painful. Thank you for standing in the cause of freedom. War sucks, but it has a way of bringing people together in the most painful way!
We shed the same blood and tears brothers. Did a little fighting in that hell hole in 2003 with the us army. Love you all brothers. It’s been 21 years and it feels like yesterday. Bravo 3/15 infantry. Rock of the Marne.
Wow!!! Thank you for sharing this story. While these marines were fighting their way through Fallijah, my Recon team was pushed out to cover their sectors. Would’ve been an honor to fight beside you gentleman 👊🏼😎 Till Valhalla!!
That mom is my hero. She really is an amazing human. Thank you for this story. I’m an Iraq veteran. We didn’t lose anyone. But lost some when we got home. This really hit hard. Thank you
Thank you for this excellent account of Third Platoon’s early actions in the Battle of Fallujah. And my deepest condolences to you all for the death of LCPL Faircloth who was undoubtedly an excellent Marine and person. Thank you to all veterans of Americas wars, you all showed-up. PTSD is real and I hope that you all know that you are loved and appreciated. Warriors, all of you.
23:54 that’s a good momma. “You cannot do nothin for the dead but you can definitely do something for the living.” Her grief’s turned into love for the men who fought alongside her son.
I didnt know much about 1/3 until a big dude, walking with his people in a Port Canaveral, Florida parking lot this past Veterans Day, spotted my Vietnam/Desert Storm ball cap. He hailed me, crossed over between the cars and shook my hand, thanking me for my service. In that strong hand and left in mine was the 1/3 FALLUJAH challenge coin. Never forget. SEMPER FI. My tank company supported 1/8. During the final briefing, I was asked about logistics for our tanks. "Tank Ammo is cheap. Marines are expensive."
It makes me happy that im not the only one who often thinks of the sacrifices our military soldiers have made throughout history
You will pay the price. Life is not fair.

Most "sacrifices" are completely unecessary!
Working on my floors, scraping old adhesive off, and balling my eyes off. This is the most moving piece I've ever watched. Thanks for making this. Thank you to all the service men and women.
Watched this 3 times today and doc always get me 😔💙
God bless our veterans. Not just the ones that fell in battle. But all of those brave men and women who sacrificed so much. For a cause they felt just in.
Thank you Third Platoon. Wish you all the best.
Anytime buddy!
God bless you all thank you for your service 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow, so emotional. Our true hero's, everyone should watch this to appreciate our servicemen. Thank you for your service.💔
Thank you for your selfless service and sacrifice. Lest we forget
Another breed of human beings. Unparalleled bravery, courage, and honor.
GOD BLESS THE USA
🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
I dont get emotional a lot but this hit me hard. Sleep well brother
I’ve seen that video of Fairclough on the roof loads of times. I never knew he never made it. Simper Fi
Same
same i wasn't aware, when it comes to iraq/fallujah Fairclough image is prevalent on documentaries/
Same here it was a shock to find out may he rest in peace
Phenomenal documentary. Thanks for making this.
Goosebumps THANK YOU 🙏 full stop .
Couldn't watch without tears in my eyes! Those young men and Brad's momma are heros! Now and forever
Semper Fi. Always painful. Always remember.

My dad was 2/1 g company during Tet offensive. Welcome home sir.
@@NotThatGuyPal. Rahh!

My work buddy was born in the US his family moved to mexico when he was 1 year old . When he was 17 he came back joined the marines, 9/11 happened and switched his MOS to a 0331 he was there in Fallujah with 2/1 . He had spent most of his life in Mexico moved back to the US and decided to serve what a man
Rip to Brad and prayers for his mother kathleen.
Thank you, Brothers for sharing this. RIP, Brad, & thank you to your Mother for loving all of us. God Bless.
I remember all three battalions eating the birthday meal together at 8th Marines Chow Hall. That will never happen again now.

Real man here!! God bless these soldiers
We remember. We are thankful 🙏
Happy birthday, DevilDogs...
the way those two soldiers showed the medic/corpsman the love, comfort and reassurance that very moment was not only heartbreaking but also one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. they instantly saw the burden of grief no man should carry so long and they acted immediately! beautiful absolutely beautiful!
This was a moving. Sad. Inspiring video. Love from Canada, 🍁 rip to all the veterans happy Remembrance Day
Was in panjaii district kandahar in 2008 was crazy. Canadians were in charge of kandahar the birth place of the taliban. Canadian infantry princess patricias canadian light infantry
Thank you for your service
So goes that long line back into the depths of human history. Brave men fighting wars, dying for causes that history won't remember. The man in the arena of combat in many ways mirrors the stories of mankind. We owe so much to those who fight to protect we, who can not. They must be remembered by the citizens who were spared. I have a friend who lost his brother in Vietnam. All I can say is I have great respect for anyone who served (especially in combat). May God bless and protect the warrior.
Thank you for this video.
I didn't know Brad, but as a fourth generation United States Marine, Semper Fi brother. May you have fair winds and God's warmth surround you.
Thank you brothers. I needed that. God bless you all.
This was a gut punch. Incrediblely put together. These men are the real deal. Salute.
Thankyou brother. Just thankyou ✌🏼
Powerful. God bless you all.
Very well done! Best doc I’ve seen in a min. That old school style of interview story tell. First person, very good show, was in it from bell to bell.
This is a nice piece put together up close and personal 👌🏿
God bless you all. Warriors.
Share his stories! We are all better because of them ❤️
I was there as an admin clerk takin pop shots and calling in coordinates for qrf augmented to conveys for rct one u der the command of capt Kimber.
Thank you for sharing your pain, your strength and the reality of war with those of us at home. You are each a treasure.
Rock of the Marne.
wild to think this was happening while i was in elementary school learning and now im a 31 year old man. Much love from a Navy brat, Semper fi.
I’m not crying, we all are 😢
For who, the million civilians you murdered based on the lies the government told you?
Wow!!!
Thank you for sharing this story.
While these marines were fighting their way through Fallijah, my Recon team was pushed out to cover their sectors.
Would’ve been an honor to fight beside you gentleman 👊🏼😎
Till Valhalla!!
Had a couple friends there, breaks my heart knowing just a fraction of wjat they went through, balls of steel, hearts of gold
SEMPER FI. God bless the United States Marine Corps! C Co., 1-20, 11 LIB 23rd Infantry Division AMERICAL, 1971.
These are real grown men, the real heroes stayed in the colors of they regiment and company
