They're generally not recommended because it does cause evaporation of moisture quicker. For that reason I have plexiglass sheets cut to fit the top. That way it stays closed off
Hi Again And thanks so much for answering my questions ! Are you using the the CC fixture with the 2 sockets attached? I'm trying to figure out exactly how you attached all the lighting to the top inside of the cage? Thank you.
Hi! I am using Arcadia brand lighting fixtures for both heat and uv. Since the screen is wire mesh I attached the lights using metal wire. I looped it through the attachment holes of the fixture and up through the mesh. It is a little DIY but very secure and safe to be near heat. Hope that helps!
and do you just put live food into the enclosure or you feed them using a tong and is there a difference between feeding live animals and dead animals to these monitors
Absolutely awesome video!!! Love the setup it’s really nice. Can I ask how much did just the cage cost? Also, does it hold heat and humidity well being that the top is ventilated? Thanks again for sharing.
This cage was around $1,000 I believe. I have information linked in the description. I also do have plexiglass that covers the screen to help with humidity
I just found your account and I LOVE it. Thanks for linking the cork bark source as well, I’ll definitely check it out.
That means a lot, thank you!
Really good set-up i think your ackie will be happy living in there
Thanks for the compliment!
Wow! Subscribed! Awesome setup!👍🏼
Thank you!
Looks great. I understand that screen tops are not suggested for ackies because , it makes a dehydrator ?

@@PetsinaPawd Oh, cool. Good idea !
Wow the enclosure is EXsPensIVE
It definitely is but it's very good quality as a glass enclosure. You can find cheaper pvc cages of the same size!
What cage is that ? Where do I get it? Great video!
It's a Carolina Custom Cage! I have them linked and also a video reviewing them
That is cool. I made a big enclosure for my ackie as well. Very similar dimensions to this one
Sounds awesome! DIY is always a good way to go
Looks great... I love it
Thank you! 😊
I’m thinking of getting one of these guys! For a full grown ackie how big should the enclosure be?
I keep my ackie in a a 5x2 which is pictured in this video
What is the grass you planted? Thank you! It looks amazing!
It's called Mondo grass. Thank you!

I put live insects in and my ackie grabs them, I also tong feed a lot right no since he's little. He doesn't like insects that are already dead.
Thanks really appreciate the information
what are these logs called and it would be nice to add a water bowl where the monitors can soak themselves
The logs are called "cork rounds". There is a huge water dish in there it's in the right side of the enclosure
Looks awesome! 👌
Thanks!
Does the enclosure have a screen or solid top? Looks like you mounted lights inside,?
Its a screen lid. I did mount arcadia lights inside so I could cover the top to help with humidity and heat
@@PetsinaPawd I'd be interested to know how to mount the light to the screen. Thanks for your help!
Where can I get Spinafex? Thank u
Spinafex grass? This particular grass is called Mondo grass and was purchased at Lowes in the US
@@PetsinaPawd Thank you! How's your Ackie from jeff doing?

How do you keep it humid with a screen top?
I have plexiglass sheets cut to size that are placed over the screen
@@PetsinaPawd so 2 plexiglass sheets? Did you just place them over the screen?
Yes I have two sheets that I bought and then had cut to size at the hardware store. They just sit on top
What make is the enclosure? Did it come worth light fixtures?
The enclosure is linked in the description and did not come with lights. Although the company does make their own light fixtures
looks amazing! i’ve got an ackie too i love him sm! did you plant to plants with the pot or out of the pot? thanks! :)
I kept them in the pot!
oh ok tysm!
How much did this all cost
I'd say around 1600 including the enclosure, background, and ALL decor inside
The enclosure is 95% of the cost.
ima be the 500th sub :D and a question would you consider this cage big enough for my sav monitor?
Thank you!! And a Sav would need bigger. Something more like an 8x5ft enclosure.
