- This is my first Corn Silage video for the 2022 season. In this video I am out in West Central Indiana at two different dairy farms (Same Farm but Two Different Locations about 15 miles Apart). In the video I bounce back and forth between the two farms and show you all the action as two different custom chopping groups work at chopping the corn in the field and hauling it back to the farms where several different tractors tractors push and pack the corn silage on the pile.
The video had a little weather delay so I was unable to video two of the choppers at the first farm but was still able to get plenty of action for this video.
Only people who have actually worked on a farm can appreciate how amazing this is.
The smell of all that chopped corn!
For some reason I could watch packing silage all day long. Great video.
haha, you should become a farmer to practice these jobs
Its hard not to love a mike less corn silage video. Awesome job. Can't wait for the many more corn silage videos this year
Me too, even though I'm not a farmer these silage videos get me excited
Man. It seems like they were planting corn just yesterday!! Summer flew by!! Awesome footage once again, Mike!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes I agree, It does seem like this summer did fly by and now it's September. I'm ready for time to slow down a bit.
Great Video as Always, I love the Xerion Tractors & Claas Choper.
Great video Mike! It's amazing the amount of material these forage harvesters can process!
I can only imagine how good that forage smells. Thanks for sharing MIke.
Alright baby it's planting season which means it's time to be excited about corn chopping for the next 4 months! Let's review all of Mike's videos in preparation of the 2024 season.
I still have a few corn silage videos from last fall to edit yet.
That was some mega chopping! Thanks Mike.
I can’t even explain how good the videos are on this channel keep up the work
Mike, It was nice of them to turn on the giant "Cooling fans" for you, :)
Awesome job Mike....one of the best silage video ever.....thanks a lot!! Keep it up and good luck from an Italian fan!!
As always a great chopping video, very interesting seeing the two farms under one name, lot of corn being chopped, also loved seeing the R model pulling a trailer, thanks for these great videos Mike
You must be a person who loves agriculture very much. Do you work on farms?
Yeah half my life, farming and construction, I have and do love it!
Thank You
Best vid you ever done!...perfect!...thank you
Okay wow and thanks
That silage sample gives new meaning to a “Cobb Salad”.
I will leave a comment.....great video FHM your top notch 👌
What a beast of a chopper
Looks like organized chaos on the silage piles
The set up from both farm is 👌
We went and checked out the Deutz dealer in Olivet MI last weekend that you mentioned a video or two back. Sat in some of the tractors. I really like those things! Kinda neat to see those Claas 4WD's in this one.
I scratch my head when I see a 2 track tractor packing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the idea of tracks was to minimize compaction. 🤔🤔
Great to see a corn chopping video from you😁👍 that is a serious operation with many nice machines👍😉
Awesome footage Mike, thank you👍
Really awesome to see those two Claas Xerions working the pit. Very rare to see them in the US but I feel like with all the weight you can stack on them and the 4wheels steer thy should be killer in the pit
If I have the chance to visit the US, this is the only thing I will learn and come back to my country and practice it
Really good video Mike. You're right, there's something about chopping corn silage, love it. And, not too far my my neck of the woods in this one. Do you ever see any of these dairy farmers doing earlage anymore? Super rich silage lots of folks don't do a lot of anymore, I don't think... Been out of those circles for many years now, but IMO you can't beat the smell of good earlage, better than corn silage even. Would be great to see if you get the chance. At any rate, another thumbs up from me. Thank you!
Great vídeo Mike. Success always.
Your videos always are fantastic
Hello! That's a remarkable operation!
Nice video. Good too see the claas xerions. Some nice trucks operating there as well, you do a good job with the filming.
Gavin
Awesome operation!
A great video Mike - thanks for posting and sharing. So odd to see all of the windmills in operation - I've always noticed at least a few not operational but here they all seemed to be running well. All the best and God Bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸
I heard a rumor that you have a video coming up soon at an all Allis Chalmers farm. Can't wait to see it!
Great video Mike! We are chopping over here by Hollansburg for the next couple of days if you want to swing by, you'd be more than welcome to.
My uncle is a dairy farmer in northern Germany. Harvesting season is always great, getting to see the harvester and the big tractors with their trailers. I remember one season that was so rained out that all the farmers had no other choice but to harvest in the rain and mud, tractors getting stuck was pretty frequent. They couldn't run double tires or anything because the field approaches and roads were way too narrow. So this one time a chaff tractor gets stuck (he was barely even loaded at that point), they call the "pulling tractor" who they had at the ready on the field (just to put into perspective how muddy it was XD). He attaches the rope, they start pulling, and the pulling tractor gets stuck as well 🤣🤣
So in the end they get the harvester. It was one of the first Claas Jaguar 980's I've seen, he pulls in front of both stuck tractors, they attach a second rope, the harvester starts his gigantic motor and pulls out both tractors. It was amazing to see for me, I don't remember how old I was, about 10 maybe.
Mike, one question: do you know what tillage operation this farm runs? All these big trucks in the field must create a lot of compaction, not to mention the corn roots themselves.
You have great vids.. we farm in east central IN. randolph delaware counties but dont see much dairy work over here..keep up the good work..
nice video mike, as always
Good video Mike some very impressive operations out there hope you stayed dry while there, skys looked kind of angry in some of the background shots. In case you mite be interested, the boys here in Northern Maine are combining their small grain crops, oats, I think barley, and canola, they'll probably start potatoes in a few weeks, have seen harvesters being gotten ready, to go, and potato houses being cleaned out, kind of to keep you up dated on things I'm seeing here in my travels. Dave D.
Very good video farmhand
I would love to know how many cows these two farms milk each day and how Manny acres of corn they plant for corn silage would have very large amount mike I love this time of year during corn choping time I love to smell of corn silage .this is my favorite times of the year .I never get tired of watching your videos mike I enjoy them all when I get a chance to watch them as always keep the good work excellent video coverage mike
Be interesting to see how they handle the waste system. From Collection to distribution. Andy on farming fixing and fabricating is pretty interesting with farming and the dairy. Small outfit just 1700 milkers
I’m guessing.
Great video thanks 😎
I have never seen any Xerions in the US. Amazing!
A farm in. north Jackson Ohio has one
A quick question. I thought that tracks were low compaction. My tracked skider was great but i couldn't pack gravel ect with it. Thanks for sharing. As a old farmer i enjoy your videos.
It si a bery good job
Great vid mike
Christ that’s a big bloody field!
Nice videos 🙏👍 keep it up
2:39 Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw...
I'd rather prefer the grilled version of it with a good steak! 😉
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Badass! 🐊
If they are trying to compact the silage while stacking it, why don't the non stacking tractors that are compacting it use a small compaction attachment like a "final pass" to cover more area, use less fuel and speed up the process?
First time I've saw a trac tractor on the pile
Wow that's alot of money in tractors pushing and packing, like to c them tarp that pile
looks like fun i wish i was driving a tractor
That's a lotta feed!
First farmhand Mike corn silage video of the year 👍
Hey sorry to hear about your dad.
@@farmhandmike thanks Mike he will be greatly missed
I wasn’t expecting the bottom of the trailer to be a belt
Is there a method they use to flush animals out of the corn fields before the choppers go through or does it just get.....messy sometimes? lol
Animals are usually left to figure it out.
If a farm is harvesting silage and doormat get the cover on before the rain 🌧️ like a downpour. Does it hurt the silage?
Mike, thanks for your videos.
Just a wonderin, have ya converted to that Sikn reeligon with that long white beard-?
Hopefully not.
How many tons does just 1 bunk hold ?? Love your videos keep up the good work.
Great video, which packs better, tracks or tires?
I’m not an expert but I’d guess tires since they have a smaller footprint.
This year our silage corn is half the size and mass from the last year.Very bad. When I am at the chopper it is like lawn mowing.😁
Oh wow! Where are you located? I did see some bad crops in different parts of the country this year
@@farmhandmike Not in the US Located in Eastern Germany.100 km north from Berlin
Is that sweet corn that there using
No it's field corn. Sweet corn generally doesn't get this tall either.
Thanks for the awesome video again. Hopefully you can get some big square baling yet preferably John Deere
Hola. Qué parte de California están ubicados
nice video do all the tractors belong to the same farmer.
2022 wow they won't be choping until October in New England
Packing with a tracked vehicle???
How far is this from I-65? I literally drove through there this weekend. I saw the windmills.
It's a ways from I-65
Last weekend, Fair Oaks Farms in NW Indiana was chopping corn, had lots more to go..........
Hi Mike
حصاد رائع
That maze is much taller than here in the uk
what is the bill for that operation?
😎😎
حصاد رائع جو
I think you got the soundtrack from a bee hive!
On minimum this is a 20-30 million dollar operation
It is just wow cut it all turn it into a chopper blower into a truck. A lot of volume
Not quite as fine a cut as John Deere Choppers but what do I know...Great Vid Keepem Comin👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🐓🐓

I know those deere tractors
Yes I heard the guy that owns them is a pretty good guy!
I can’t wait until farming simulator upgrades to unreal engine
I like Mike less videos on TH-cam from the imperial co California 🌽🌽🌽🌽
I spot a rookie in that magnum. Has the face of his pile wayyyy too long. That's along way to push that
They must have a lot of money to throw away
Wow. - 10 minute mark. Very sloppy loading of sileage. Look at the FOOD spilling/blowing out.
drop Tik Tok
Hey man cut the beard off!
