Trains at London St Pancras, MML + HS1 - 4/2/19

- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at London St Pancras where services are seen by East Midlands Trains, Southeastern and Eurostar. Thumbnail to be added soon.
This was a station I really enjoyed filming at, the station had a lot of variety around it including Eurostar who I haven't filmed for a good while, the architecture remains to be one of the best, it's modern and appealing even to the average tourist. The station is however restricted on its vantage points as the EMT platforms see the most action in one, the 700s for GTR do operate here but they run on the lower level platforms which are tricky and time consuming to access constantly. However, this station is a very good one and is recommended.

Great footage Kieran! The Eurostar fleet is very impressive! Personally, I have never seen one irl but I hope to when I next go to London.

Those Eurostars are the most impressive trains to film in my opinion
And there is actually a gare (station) in Disneyland so I don't know why they don't just stop there

@Morgan Pollard yes, the 434xx's were inherited from Grand Central when they started to use adelantes instead.
Eurostars are 18 carriage trains?! What on earth do you need 18 carriages for?
My guess is the higher the max speed you allow for a line, the less frequently trains can operate for safety reasons, so more cars to a train could solve that.
Think about it, Eurostar operate across into mainland Europe so holidaymakers, schools, businesses will need to use it, it's effectively the same as the purpose of a plane except it's on rails, 18 coaches are certainly enough. 😊

Do thameslink trains ever terminate at London St Pancras High level?
No, thameslink don't terminate at St Pancras. They carry on through toward London bridge
How far is the tunnel, from the terminus

Thameslink have been known to terminate at the high level actually, they do it in the late night too when trains finish at St Pancras.
