On the getting cut thing, amazon has Vetabond which is vet grade liquid stitches, same factory as the human stuff, same ingredients, just doesn't get certified like the human stuff. Perfect for knife cuts, butterfly it with the glue, if it is really bad, I use a little tourniquet to cut off blood flow, wipe it off and glue it, give it about 10-15s and it seals up, better than superglue too because it is flexible.

The Dozier is a wonderful knife because you will not be afraid to use it. That and the Rat 2 make great first knives.

The knapping of obsidian is called chonchoidally fractured. It’s the technical name for the type of fracture found on glass or other non-planar crystals. The very fact that it fractures that easily is exactly why it sucks for folders. Just opening hard could fracture the blade! Great answer to the question!!!

Adding to his answer to Vere elliot's question. Keep your knives sharp. If they're sharp you dont have to use as much force to cut things. If they're dull you'll have to push harder and you'll be more likely to slip. I've cut myself to the one with fairly dull knives. Never with razor sharp ones.

For cheaper knife under 3" under $100, I own both the Buck 112 Slim Pro and Kershaw Leek.
I enjoy them both very much but lean towards my Leek. Personally my favorite blade shape. Note I added a sharpening choil and had mine Deassisted due to local restrictions. It now slow rolls open, but if you don't mind that, it's great!
The 112 slim has rough action out of the box but improves greatly after some lube and repeated open/close. Blade has some recurve and no sharpening choil.

Hey DCA, can you explain the difference between a saber grind and a high flat grind? Maybe show some examples of each? I'm a visual learner. Thanks.

What do you use to sharpen your knives and what do you recommend? Can you do a video about whetstones and knife sharpeners?

Hi DCA, I like the Benchmade Osborne but a little to pricey for working around my farm. Any suggestions on a similar style not quite as expensive. Thanks.

To prevent cuts working on a fixed blade doing anything other than sharpening, painters tape the edge. I say that with seven stitches in my index finger from tying a new lanyard on my Civivi Minimus and just relying on the sheath. It slipped off as I was tightening the last knot and I noticed exactly one second too late. I know better so that one was on me.

Hey David. With all newer slipjoint or double detent folders that have come out in recent years do you have any recommendations? Looking for one with a micarta scales or nice wood. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, G.

@xLittlecountryx : My Shaman-like (yes, I know this is arguable) alternative is the AD-10. I've seen them below $120 on amazon recently...The price they're showing me today is $127.19.

Question: What are your best fixed blades with horizontal (scout carry) sheaths? Thanks!

Hey David. With regards to the spyderco tenacious alternatives, how about the realsteel terra and sidus? Both are still budget but better steel than the 8cr series on the tenacious. That steel is the onlyreason i have not bought a tenacious yet.

Hi David! I would like to pocket carry a fixed blade for EDC. I am considering the TOPS Mini Scandi 2.5 or the Condor Mini Bushlore. I'm looking for a knife with a total length of around 6 inches for easy pocketability. How do the Mini Scandi and the Mini Bushlore compare in terms of handle-scale width and the width of the sheaths? Is there another option ($65 and under) that you would recommend for a pocket carry fixed blade? Here's the catch: In my work environment, it would have to fit completely in my pocket, without peaking out. Sheath-mounted pocket clips would be put to use outside of work only. Thanks for the great content!

What applications do you see for kai’s composite blade technology in the edc world. I’ve been impressed by Shun’s Sora line, but the composite leek seems a bit odd with D2 on the edge and 14c28n on the spine

David. I’m looking for a hard use work knife. Blade length must be 3-4 inches per work requirements. Max budget is $125. The kicker is, I’m looking for something that can also double as a food prep knife. Yes, I will wash my knife before cooking. Thanks.

Hey DCA, can you please recommend a quality chef's knife that will hold up well to everyday food prep? (slicing, dicing, fruits vegetables ect.) Hoping to find something under $200 with really good edge retention that I don't have to sharpen very often. My priorities are durability & performance over aesthetics. Thank you very much!

Hi David. Iv just qualified as a tiler and i am looking to treat my self. Looking for something that will look good when I pull it out my pocket . But also up to any work related task. Looking to spend between £150 -£200. Has to be a folder and not too tactical looking not really a fan of drop point blades either, fidget freindly would be a happy bonus. Thanks Chris Hatton 🇬🇧
