    hi. i did the same as you and got 3 volts only .i tried with a ceiling fan .it is better than the alternator .i put magnet arround the stator .i turned it with a small washing machine motor with a motor speed controller and a rectifier. i got 270 volts ac and about 60 volts dc output from the rectifier.lowering the speed of the motor i got 24 volts.you can get your 12 volts.

    When Magnetic rotor is rotated between 2 copper sheet, will it produce an alternating Current which can be used in household? Will the the copper rotate due to rotating magnetic field or be stationary? Put simply, is it an alternator or AC Motor?

  • @tarekg28

    i also tried the hoverboard wheel motor and it work pefectly. but never get lucky with the alternator.

      Thank you for commenting. I converted an induction motor to magnet armature a few years ago and got about 60v DC buy only about 0.3A. I will keep trying the alternator.

    How about if you put the windings in series instead of parallel, the voltage will increase. I did it on a Honda PMA...changed it from 13 to 39 volts.

    • @DaftOldMan
      @DaftOldMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried that but never posted the video because it did not make any difference to voltage output. I assumed I would get three times the output but nothing changed.

    What was the load? Voltage alone doesn't mean very much. If you can pull 100 amps at 5v then that's 500w. Which is better than 12v at only 40a. But I can just about tell you what the problem is. It is your rotor disks being steel, unlaminated, and in no way optimized for use in an alternator. And well, the magnets could have been bigger and stronger, yeah. Okay so maybe not particularly practical or even cost effective, but that's cool, you did something instead of just talking about it and dreaming big dreams.

    • @DaftOldMan
      @DaftOldMan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for commenting. I am still building small PMA's but none of them give any real power once a load is applied.

    Is this 100% efficient in converting kinetic energy to electrical energy?

    • @Teknopottu
      @Teknopottu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case there is losses for example in wire resistances, friction from bearings, low power magnets... Even air resists spinning parts.
      Nothing converted is 100% efficient because of the conversion.

    Does the rotor need to be made out of metal or can you use aluminum?

    • @DaftOldMan
      @DaftOldMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aluminium would be much better as it is not magnetic. I did not have any.

    • @mikelue58

      No. Wouldn’t suggest aluminum. You want the rotor to be Ferritic, iron or steel is prob best bet…

    Izskatās nenormāli smags rotors. Ja Jums ir pašam sava virpa mājās, rotora diskam vajag izvirpot "U" veida profilu, plus izurbt vairākus caurumus, tādējādi atvieglinot rotoru. Veiksmi darbā!

    Ну так нужно было и крутануть его на 6000 оборотов, как в автомобиле. А для таких оборотов как у дрели, нужно перематывать статор на большее количество витков. Сечение провода уменшится, но 100 ампер в большистве случаев и не нужно.
