I bought this same guitar around a year ago, the same price, and absolutely agree with everything you mentioned. I’m pretty sure the body of mine is 3 piece but the joins are imperceptible unless you angle it just right under certain light conditions so I may be wrong. I wasnt sure whether to buy this or the regular LP60 because at that time the regular one was quoted as being made of mahogany. I emailed Artist Guitars and they assured me that Okoume wood was really resonant and that their own BullBucker pick ups were superior to the Wilkinson Humbuckers. It seems they were correct.
This guitar is my second favourite, just behind my Gretsch. I loved it so much that I’ve since bought another 2 guitars from Artist and they are fantastic too.

I've been playing guitar since the 80s.
I've owned a Malmsteen Strat, many Music Man Silhouette Specials, and a Music Man Luke... over $4000 for the Luke.
Perhaps you should ask this "guitar tech" why an experinced guitar player can't use Artists??
I own an Artist Les Paul, and I've enjoyed it as much as a real Les Paul.
Perhaps if a guitar player can't make these guitars work for them... I would suggest there's something wrong with the musician.
There's nothing wrong with Artist guitars.
