Sometimes people just need to lighten up. Who cares if you point at something, everyone gestures with their hands. Always good for us to discover new places to eat! Thank you!
Boy, that's a really old wooden building. Back in the late 60s, i used to ride our bikes and visit my neighbor's friend directly in back.! Also I remember seeing this occupied as a dress store (who i always thought wouldn't be able to make money at that spot). Hope this place changes the vibes there and become successful!
Yes that's such an old building. Surprising how it survived when the similar ones across the street got torn down. Love that it survived though. I always wondered who ever shopped at the boutique dress shop too.
I drive by there at least three times a week, and didn't know that part of the building was converted into a takeout restaurant. Definitely got the teri-beef and -chicken on my got-to-try list. I saw that they have a fried noodle, so like your review of T&L Market, I'll probably got to try that also. GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS! Have a nice, hopefully 'no-hurricane' week!
Super Q Cafe reminds me of a place I went after school - a fun place to hangout with friends, do homework, and eat french fries. A decent report card would get you a free ice cream cup. Thanks for the memories.
Yes it looks like such a cool hang out for the Farrington kids! I bet if they served simple stuff like fries and nuggets they'd make bank after school!
Appreciative of your adventurous spirit to show off the delicious holes in the walls. I take that left turn on Waikamilo all the time, and never have the peripheral situational awareness to notice the ono grindz near by. Mahalo for the great content.🤙🤙🤙
Hey Misty: went to SUPER Q today and took a bunch of clients with me..., also informed the owner we saw his place on your TH-cam (scoring Brownie Points for FOOD FIEND) he remembers you...! We placed a huge order and I think he might be the owner operator of the place..... He was appreciative however, service did suffer a bit..... First thing my clients noticed was that the price was much better than "GENKI" and the taste was just as good if not unique. He does need somewhat of a NEON SIGN or something to boost his presence in the area.... ALL in ALL it was packed with different mix of locals and tourist and "No Sitting Room" only; I did have to stand but it was worth it and the food did not disappoint.... Thanks for your heads up on this place.., my clients went wild on their orders and everyone was "stuffed"... "Coconut tree" time after...! lolololol
Wow so awesome! Thanks for taking a bunch of clients there. Yes, since he's usually alone he makes the food slow. Seems like the word is getting out if had plenty people inside. I am glad you liked the food. It isn't gourmet, but definitely a great lunch for a reasonable price. I definitely know about the "coconut tree" time. zzzzz. 😂
Thanks Misty, I wondering about that place but never tried it. The food looks good. Must go there and try it out. Yes, support local. Have a great weekend too.
I’m really enjoying going through and watching your videos. I grew up in Kalihi and watching some of those videos is so nostalgic. My wife and I were going to do something like this but she is gone now to heaven.
@@FoodFiend No its ok. I love it. I just haven't heard it in a while because I've been on the mainland for over half my life now. I never get to hear any kind of pidgin' anymore.
Aloha Misty: You did a great vlog on this find. The teriyaki chicken bowl, and the seafood bowl, were huge and appealing - I can imagine 2 meals from each bowl served. The BWS building was a familiar spot to see again; it brought back some good memories of the area. I hope you brought back one of the “awesome” musubi for Aiden to enjoy - I can imagine the delicious of that unique musubi. 😀. Great to see the good food of the old neighborhood. I am looking forward to the next vlog. Best wishes and much 🧧, fellow 🐯! 🤙🏼
Aloha Bill and thanks! You could definitely make two meals with one bowl if you are a light eater. I made two meals out of the chicken bowl. Aiden ate the rest. Aiden does not eat musubis so I did not get one. I also don't think he would eat the unagi. 😂 Strange I know, but he also hates any type of nori. So I did not get him one. He enjoyed the chicken though. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend and also for the week ahead! Take care!
I'm glad you like it! I love deep house/tech house and dubstep. The dubstep would scre off the elderly folks though. 🤣 I used to DJ in my 20s. Now I'm old 👵
Hey Misty!! Talk about affordable eats in this day and age especially in Hawai’i!! We’ll take it especially for some sushi that’s fresh. Portions are great and the musubi had THICK SLICES!! When you said the unagi was good and you wanted to try the unagi bowl…we said WE WANT TO TRY IT TOO!! 😋😋 Definitely a good reminder for people to be patient especially to those small local businesses that are trying to make a living! Mahalo as always for another foodie adventure and see you soon! 🤙🏽
Aloha Michelle and Jose! Yes, the unagi musubi was soooo good! And I'm not usually a unagi person. I like it, but it's not my favorite. But combined with the spam 🤌 Can't wait to see you two soon! Have a great weekend!
I pass by now and then and never thought there would be such yummy foods there! I appreciate you showing the prices; when I watch older videos, I expect the prices to change. >^.^
had to review this one again.., occasionally I work and its' at the opposite end of the block from your review of this place.... going actually gonna go later this week.... GO GURL
Aloha Misty, you are correct. Superb Sushi only does sushi platters, catering and live sushi making events now. Every time I bring food to a party, I get a platter from Superb Sushi. Its high quality, freshly made and I can create my own custom platter! (Yes, I'm a fan) Love your reviews, but could you please always mention the parks you're eating at? (They look like good spots to have lunch! 😁
Ah thanks for confirming. Before it seemed you could just walk in to grab cheap sushi. I won't give my secrets away on here. But you can message me on IG and I'll let you know.
This all looks delicious. I love Unagi. I will definitely get an Unagi bowl. But the musubi looked amazing. Yeah!! 2 x I didn't go to Kamehameha Times for Manapua...ugh🤦♀️🤷♀️ NIce review Misty, Mahalo

Hi Misty 👋 We are excited to land on the island again (end of Sept) ! Is that a normal size for the Musubi , it looks large ! Holy moly $8.99 for that bowl = BARGAIN Only open for a few months, I wonder if they can sustain that pricing ? If it was $10 to $12 it would still be cheap. Cheers Rod and Gemma 👍
Hi Rod and Gemma! Yay your vacation is coming so soon! How exciting! Yes that's the regular size that he gave me. The pricing is fair. We shall see how long it lasts but it seems like the kids from the high school across the street give them lots of business after school. 😊
Thank you! Yes I finally got a Pocket 3. I used the Pocket 2 in my Vietnam and Massachusetts videos. I was using a Osmo Action 4 for the other recent videos and our Disney Cruise/Canada. For Osaka I hauled around a Sony FX30. Too heavy for me. 😵💫
I wondered why you stopped giving the prices of the dishes you try. That’s the thing that really motivates me to give these establishments a try. Don’t let those “don’t give prices” boo birds deter you. You can’t please everyone. Regardless, I will continue to watch all your food videos and join you in your foodie adventures.
@kenuyeno Mahalo Ken! I also don't think it helps in these times because I noticed when I'd post the prices the next month the price raises in this economy. Google Reviews and Yelp always has recent pictures of every restaurant's menus if it helps. Mahalo for joining my foodie adventures! 🤙
No I wish. I don't spend much money on clothes and glasses. It's like a cheap generic one from Amazon but works well. And I don't have to cry if I lose them or scratch them. 🤙
Back from my Ban! 😂😂😂😂turning into a weekly thing. Nice video! That cabbage is tsukemono. Grow up my granny used to make it all the time. Awesome place to go to next time im with my son! See ya! Peace out!
I really did go...I like it...very busy with school kids...they seem to be enjoying the location...
Wow thanks for going there so fast. I'm glad you like it and that the kids are buying food from them. 🤙
Thanks for highlighting these smaller shops... I wouldn't have visited but now I must try it out. 😋
You're very welcome. And thanks for being interested and making an effort to try these places!
