Really enjoyed your series of videos ! I always built my own, they were consistent and flew better, making me shoot better. I heard once awhile ago that the solid color nocks were stronger, less prone to crack ! You should make that complete series into a DVD ! I still learned a lot from you, thanks, Curtis
Love your videos! I’ve made a few dozen wood arrows myself and wow. You’re a whole other level and I realized I cut a ton of corners. Will be calling you soon to get some perfect arrows for a few new bows I’m having built!
Your arrow making videos are helping me a lot. Thank you for producing them. I am struggling to understand the "Grain" consideration , when nocking the arrow. Would it be possible to provide an illustration that closely depicts the desired grain configuration? Or maybe guide me to such an illustration (drawing)?
Andy; Our club requires self knock arrows, we are "primitive" or pre 1840 so no plastic. I make a lot of arrows for our kids and club. Do you have any tips or suggestions that would involve self knocks?
How do you deal with the bohning nock index and the bitzenburger fletching jig? I like the bohning nocks but have to shave down the index to get it to set all the way into the nock hole on jig.
In this video, you shared that the "Duco" cement worked really well with plastic nocks on wood arrows. Would this be because the cement dissolves the plastic in the nock just enough to blend it with the glue...leaving the adherence "work" of the glue to the rougher wood surface... mixes with the plastic to glue the wood?
Youll probably know the answer to this. So as far as dry fire goes, in regards to nock fitment, is it ok to have a slightly loose nock as long as the arrow is in front of the string so to speak when it's fired or does it have to be tight to the string?
at £34 a tube on the UK I'll properly not use the duco cement :-) . I've used the blue gorilla glue previously for nocks and that seemed ok .. unfortunately its not so good for points :-(
Have you ever used the alluminum arrow nock repair tool to clean and retrue nock taper? Also do they still make the mercury nocks? Or are they old stock? Thanks for the videos.
Micah Lewis I’m not sure if I know what tool your talking about. They no longer make the Mercury nock. I have plenty in various colors if you are looking for some.
I don't see any wood nocks ! I use wood nocks only! I have to get them from the UK at www.shirearchery.uk. They are sold 6 to a package in 11/32 and 5/16 sizes. I pay 63.00 for 60 including shipping. FYI.
TheDave570 your right. No wood nocks were in the picture. I’ve seen pictures of those wood nock and they are beautiful! If your ever at a shoot that I’m attending i would love to see them in person.
Two grand worth of Bitz jigs in the background. Awesome man!
Thanks 👍
Who would have thought that so much work and detail goes into wooden arrow production. Excellent work

Great video Andy , explained it clearly can't wait for the next one may have a shed load of questions for you 😂
👍👍👍
I'm making my first set of wood arrows and these videos are fantastic, thanks for making them
A very useful and informative tutorial many thanks.
Thank you for watching.
Excellent insight. Thanks for the video! Andy
Your videos are so helpful, thanks so much for making them.
You adjust nock to string fit by putting the nock into hot water, then squeeze the nock over the string. Perfect fit!
You can, but you would be better off building the string correctly the first time.
Thanks Andy!
Love your videos
@@nathansmith5331 thank you.

Hi , interesting. Do you have any videos on that ?
@@MM-qc1tf Clay Hayes, Twisted Stave has some. I have not made one yet.
@@TheCapthof cool , thanks .
Great idea. I'm almost caught up on arrow orders. I'll start making videos soon. I'll put this one on the list.

Justin Robertson I drill the hole out bigger. I’ll include that in the Bitz video this fall.

Addictive Archery merlin archer has them there called nock end repair tool, they have 3 small rasp that true up a nock taper
Micah Lewis just looked them up. I have not used them. They sound interesting, I’ll have to see if I can get one to play with.
Addictive Archery there's a article on stickbow.com by Larry Yien about using them.

looked at the Duco cement And it is well beyond the price I would want to pay £61.31is more than most people would wish to pay for a glue
Just google Stodoys and make some dust.
those nocks suck.they need to make them out of bone or aluminum.they break so quick.
