I like the real barnwood backdrop. A little dark but still very nice. I think displaying the mousetraps is an excellent idea. Thanks for all the effort.
I liked both backdrops but real wood one is better. In the future you'd be better wear gray or colored t-shirts, black t-shirt makes the scene even darker. Not a big deal but something one should be aware of.
Mouse: No, make me a pet! They live the good life. Also, loved how you did real time studio improvements. Shelving to display some of your collection is a very good idea. You could also use it to rotate the display of traps you used in previous videos, and reference that to people who may have missed your last upload(s).
Shawn, consider adding a "hair light." That would be a light above and behind you, out of frame, that shines down on the top of your head and shoulders. That will help separate you from the dark background, especially when you wear a dark shirt and hat.
I really liked the backdrop and all the work you put in for these videos. I get really exited about all the videos you make they make me really happy, keep up the good work!
The back ground just adds to your continued awesomeness. Just waiting for your extra channel to come out with your survival stuff again. I'm really excited!
@@kingkamehamehamunich yeah. I loved seeing his flint knapping arrow head videos. Obsidian is so sharp. I wanna see him make a shelter and make some rabbit/rat traps. Cook and eat videos!
Hey Shawn! Love what you did with the background. Long time fan here and I always find Moustrap Mondays relaxing somehow. That's why I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work! Here's what I can suggest: Have some of your pet rats be shown on the table (in a cage of course) or running in a wooden mouse wheel stuck to the wall. I think it'll look lively seeing mice doing their own thing while you read comments.
I found your channel to help solve a mouse issue I have here and my cat has become absolutely addicted to your show. He will sit in front of the tv and just look at me the touch the screen and look at me again until I turn it on for him then he gets excited and starts slapping the screen lol. Your channel is officially Pumpkin approved 👍
Good idea, actually don't put the barn wood permanently. That way you have the option of changing the backgrounds, different ones for different seasons.
Shawn Woods: One of the only TH-cam personalities to answer questions and actually show himself making improvements to his studio in the same video! You're an awesome dude, Shawn. Glad I got hooked on your mousetrap videos almost 2 years ago!
The upgrades to the studio is a major improvement for the good. To alleviate the reflection off your TH-cam play button you need to make a glass covered frame. The important thing is to use “framing glass” it is a non reflective glass. Look in the phone book (ya I know I am showing my age) for a framing shop in your area and they should have what you need. For your shelves for your mouse traps consider “bracketless” sometimes called floating shelves or maybe a discreet Hager’s so not to distract from the traps themselves. Lastly while spending your money your desk needs an upgrade also but it should be different than barn wood. Maybe a old desk or kitchen table. Keep up the great content.
That's the hard way. All Shawn needs for outdoor work is a shotgun-mic. They aren't expensive (unless you're into all-out movie and TV work), and will give all the flexibility for all kinds of different outdoor scenes.
6:08 just get a green screen or sheet. That way whenever you talked about a subject, you could play video of it behind you as you talked about it (or just have a silent video of the pond or field you usually leave mouse treats)
I thought that maybe you could try using a green screen and have an outdoor video playing and that would pleae everyone. Love the videos, thanks from the UK!
Hey Shawn, love the look of the new studio design. Can't wait to see the shelf added as well! Some of the outdoor noise could be overcome by using a lavaliere microphone, but the studio will still be better.
This is awesome, I'm so glad i found this channel - there are NO good resources out there with ideas & examples re: trapping rats!! THANK YOU for doing this, you have no idea how appreciative I am to have found these.
The barn wood backdrop looks amazing Shawn! Gives a nice rustic feel that matches with what you've told us about your home and lifestyle, very fitting.
The absolute best background would be shelves filled with some of your trap collection. That would be really interesting and people could spot traps you've used in previous episodes.
Hello fellow Oregonian, yes, I love the new background. I personally do not care where you do your Q & A times, but I do love the new backdrop. I care more about how TH-camrs actually respond and interact with fans. I love your videos and it's cute to see you involve your kids too. Great job man! Keep up the great work! :)
Keep the great work!! Glad to hear that things are going better with TH-cam, I have seen a lot of channels going through the same difficulty. Really love the new background, thank you for showing how you did it.
The wood looks great! One small suggestion though would be to paint a dark color behind the wood so the white doesn't shine through so much. Can't wait to see the shelf too!
Looks great! Your effort is greatly appreciated, I found your channel randomly last year and was instantly hooked. Who knew mouse traps could be so fascinating?! Hi from Scotland!
The real wood looks good. I like the idea of getting some b-roll of different scenes like a creek, barn, pet mice running around, etc. and playing that on a green screen.
Nice, the white desk looks good against the back ground. I really like seeing dads doing stuff with their kids, almost as if you love them or something. Having your little helpers working with you is fun. Mine are teens now and not as much fun, well just different fun.
I agree about the extra noise outside. One of my pet peeves is guys that do car videos while they're driving but with no lapel mic. Ugh! All you hear is the drone of the car. So yeah, you're on the right track with the background improvement!
Regarding the darker overall image you can try some things: - Add some lights (maybe some hanging lamps) or bright-colored objects to the top left side of the frame and you will improve the darkness quite a bit; - Change your key light (the brightest light pointed at you) to the left side (lighting the right side of your face), that way it will also improve the darkness of the background and the overall picture. Keep up the great work!
I've been watching at your channel since it's early days of hunting and survival videos. I admire your passion for trying to find a way to make your channel better, now it is your studio that you're working on. You may also hang your custom Mouse Trap Monday shirts and caps at the back. And perhaps some of the old survival tools that you made before.
Also long time viewer, awesome stuff. Appreciate the reality of the channel without any hint of cruelty. My suggestion... add a skin of barn wood or recycled timber over everything visible in your studio and feature a few favourite mousetraps on your shelves and mix them up each video. I don't remember if you have, but a tour of your trap collection would also be cool. Love the idea of a mouse room tour too:-)
TH-camr: I need back drop I'll just buy one Shawn: did someone say family project time? I signed up for cool traps and a knowledgable outdoorsman, those who know them are likely to guess their wholesome family lives. Thank you Shawn for sharing these wonderful moments with all of us. Cheers.
I really like the real barnwood, such an improvement, and so lovely. You have earned that play button, and congrats. It would be nice to see your collection featured in your videos, and you would have them available for reference, especially when showing similar or derivative traps for the big picture. Your channel is so helpful and entertaining. Hope you and your family are doing well and look forward to your continued success.
Love the new look. fake wood was fine, too. You should add to your background a bow and other interests (Ötzi) to get people more involved in more of your content. Come for the mice, stay for the hunting. seasonal vegetables that you have harvested, or whatever. rotate out the items on your shelves and reference what you have on display. maybe even a live mouse cage in the back. If not too invasive to your space, consider adding more sound proofing, plants (off screen) or a carpet (huge help) as we are still getting some echo.
The barn wood backdrop and displayed play button look magnificent! Awesome work! I can’t wait to see what the mousetrap display shelf looks like! That would be a really nice addition too!
I love your channel shawn! you really toughed it out there for quite a while, but with that new partner at TH-cam, it sounds like things are finally moving in the right direction again and people will see what a creative and educational channel you have here! the amazing vintage traps you have showcase a part of history rarely seen, save for the select few, and im glad to be on this journey with you! the real barnwood background is much nicer and i love those future plans! keep it up please!
I love watching your channel even though I live in the middle of a city where vermin are kept under control. The extra content about how you're receiving feedback and adjusting along the way is also great. I dig the raw nature, both literal and creative, of your channel.
You might want to try the Button on the other side and put the shelf on the left. Try a slight twist to the frame or move the camera slightly for the effect you want.
I agree that your logo would also look nice up there. I'm excited to see your displays as well. I hope your channel continues to grow. I've gotten a lot of good tips from you.
I have been watching for a while now and I must say - your reviews have really helped me get the right traps. I have set up a bucket with a rolling piece of poly pipe and coated it in peanut paste over the bucket and inside, I have added peanut oil to top it off. Set up the Arlo camera tonight cross my fingers that I catch some pesky mice and rats that have been eating my budgie’s seed.
I love the idea of your solid hardwood shelf! Especially if you feature some of your more unusual traps on it. Congrats on your golden play button btw!
The wood feature of the backdrop is nice. The bright white table is in strong contrast to the rustic background now. Still for me the studio Q&A worked fine. Some drawings of antique mousetraps would also work nice! Thanx for your channel and the hard work! Greetz from the south of Germany
Hey Shawn, I've been a subscriber for a while now and really appreciate your videos and your methods for trapping. The new studio looks great. A huge congratulations on your gold plate button.
Hi Shawn. Regarding William's suggestion I think you should film the Q&A session in a woodgrain backgroud, bathrobe on, smoking a magic bubble pipe and wearing a fez. That would be so kickass. Thanks,
I like the barn backdrop. You may consider having a bookshelf or some other kind of display to also show-off a few of your favorite traps in the background.
I really enjoy the real barnwood on the back. It gives a atmosphere about you and feeling about the channel. I think you'll should definitely set up the traps also.
You may be able to use a piece of glass with an antireflection/antiglare coating in front of the play button. I don't recall how much it was when I priced it at a couple of craft stores that do picture frames but I seem to remember it being a bit expensive.
the barn wood backdrop looks really nice, can't wait to see it with the shelves and some mousetraps on display, it will give a really nice feel to your videos. We need another video of the mouse crew, it would be nice to meet them all.
The real wood background looks great and CONGRATS! on your Golden Play Button. You deserve it. I can always count on you for family-friendly content. 👍🏻
Honestly this added a huge amount of aesthetics to your channel. Now looks more fleshed out. Before it was more of a catch a mouse and move on. now with this new look, it looks more like a show with 2 parts. one is the mouse trap and then you go next. you look more like a host rather than an announcer. Thank you for doing this. Lastly, I would like to recommend to also add background music to some aspects of the video. Really, mellow and cool beats can sky rocket the attention spam of people and bring the channel to new highs. Thank you for all the time and effort that you put in your videos. I truly appreciate it.
Love the new background! Definitely better than the sheet. Considering many mousetraps are made of wood you may have to get a bit creative with displaying them on a shelf, might be hard to see against such a dark backdrop. But I'm sure you will figure something out, certainly glad you chose to make this improvement!

A bit dark for me as well, especially if you're wearing dark clothing, no contrast.
Yes, a lighter color shirt with the darker wood background would look better. Maybe a nice light gray mouse color??
Sounds like everyone is already saying what I was thinking, looks good, it is a bit dark would love to see all the other mouse traps in the background

The barnwood background looks really nice! Your logo on it would look good
Can he just like firebrand his logo into it? Not sure how feasible that is but would look amazing
@@Igod9114 Firebranding would be cool but given how dark the wood is on camera as it is, I'm not sure that a firebranded logo would show up very well.

I never thought I’d see a painting of a mousetrap
Really? There was no other choice before the invention of the camera to show people doing ordinary things.
And I never thought I'd see a painting of dogs playing poker yet here we are
I thought I'd never see a video of a chicken sneezing but we got it.
More surprising than dogs playing poker is dogs cheating at playing poker. Oh, well the velvet canvas makes up for it.

I love the background, now i think u should try to find a table that matches that background.
Agreed. Perhaps using the mat on top of the table might work... it's worth a try imo
IMO, the wall is dark enough, and the white tabletop is a good contrast. If the top matched the wall it would look like he was inside a crate!
Love the background too ! And I agree on the table... There’s a bit too much contrast between this beautiful dark background and the white table.

Green screen with an active outdoor scene blended into the background was my idea as well. Maybe a view of the beaver pond.
I like the wood wall. I also like the idea of putting up mousetraps.
The backdrop is great. Looks like you are in a house built by wood. That makes it very convinient to think you are out in the nature...

The real wood background looks great and CONGRATS! on your Golden Play Button. You deserve it. I can always count on you for family-friendly content. 👍🏻
Love the real wood background, and gettin your little boy in on the action too! It’s great to see kids learning how to use tools from an early age.
My thoughts too, and colored pictures of animals would definetly work for me too
Greetings from Denmark. Great news that YT is working with you and not against you. Ps. Backdrop looks good.
You do so much for your viewers keep up the amazing work!
