Wow! Straight out of left field. Glad I've been building up some cash while out in the black visiting sag a before heading to Colonia and then back to the bubble.
Huh? We got nothing in 2023? 😄 2023 has actually been pretty good tbh. The thargoid content was pretty cool imo and well balanced and didn't even really have that much repetetive grind like engineering materials. I personally appreciated some of the QOL updates as well. I guess it was a bit slower year but still we got some really nice stuff I would say. But then again I started playing in that time of silence before Ody, right after Fleet carriers update so for me even just getting community goals is nice lol. In any case, looks like 2024 will be pretty good. What I would also like would be if they finally took a good look at cheating and seriously did something about that, the stuff ppl have been able to do lately has been pretty crazy.
I agree! Even though it wasn’t really for my taste, I must say that the thargoid updates added quite a bit of new gameplay content. I am glad that they seem to move on to other areas again, but „we got nothing in 2023“ feels quite harsh. The dynamic war alone was probably a huge undertaking to make it work in the game.
Will this be yet another free update? I do a lot of sim racing and there are two funding models that are prominent in that arena. Subscription (which I'm glad Frontier never got into) and paid DLC. iRacing is a bit extreme for that but ACC has it right. About once a year they'll release a new car pack at a reasonable price. This most recent pack, which also included a new track, was about £15. My concern with ED, which I play once in a while after buying it at launch (still nowhere near Elite in Combat and Trading yet) is that Frontier don't generate the income that they should from the game to make it worth continuing to develop it. I am surprised that it's now 10 years old, though, and still going.
Yeah, the only income they get is from the purchase of the actual game / Odyssey and Arx purchases for cosmetics. While that‘s great for us, I do feel they at least need to offer a wider variety of cosmetics or some other incentive to keep it profitable.
I dunno how this sounds, but I think a monthly subscription that offers some modest bonuses would be nice, like weekly Arx, maybe a permit for a system that is like Jameson but even better, and access to the Cobra mk4. Nothing crazy, but if it were like 5 dollars a month, they could make some cash from it.
@@wimdyslim I do like the idea, but I feel that, given the age of the game, this wouldn‘t be a popular decision. Also Frontier would need to provide a constant supply of subscription bonuses, even if they were small things like cosmetics and I‘m not sure they can do that.
@@tallerghostwalt fair enough. I just really want this game to stay relevant. I just got back into it after years of being frustrated with it. Once I got back into it, I kind of forgot why I was mad at it, it's a great game.
0:29 I don't think they said that we will be able to kill titans, they said something like "culmination point of the entire war" or smth I think, I'm not sure, they could've said that and I just wasn't paying attention
I havent played Elite since Hogwarts Legacy came out last year. Thinking on returning soon just have to wait for vacation times. Hope its interior for all ships so making them feel more like home more then ever.
Those are just gonna be normal game updates, not expansions like Horizons and Odyssey. All these Updates since Odyssey launch have been something quite similar to the Beyond series of free updates in the Horizons Era.
@@vavra222 it’s is just a PC with an APU after all. After being on PC game devs are the issue. You have people with I9s and 4090s getting stuttering frame drops etc. at least they have to optimize for console. ED:Odyssey is unoptimized on PC because of Fdevs incompetence. Having a PC showed me it doesn’t matter your hardware if you can’t take advantage of it. ED:O def can run on a PS5 or XSX they just don’t want to. These people play games just like you inconsiderate prick.
Elite ain’t dying this year!
You gave me so much hype, I didnt know anything about it!
Lets let them cook, and see what comes out!
4 ships 'at least' they said on stream.
Culmination of the war too.... I'll be glad of that.
Time get materials for ship engineering 😅

People need to cut FDev a break -- 2023 was decent for them despite all the internal upheaval.

I'd like to see any of this come to consoles but I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath.
They've made it clear consoles were in maintenance mode and would receive no further content so no
@@raymarshall6721 That's really disappointing. I highly doubt I'm going to play this on PC.
I'm guessing the Python mk.2 will be a similar idea as the Type 10 in a combat variant as a response to the Thargoid threat.
