Hi my name is Emi. My van life story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.
It’s not about how “fast” you are, but about enjoying the journey! Your hike was beautiful, such amazing shots of wildlife and scenery. You have quite the artistic eye for it! Thanks for bringing us along with you Emi!

Isn’t it funny how we think we’re in good shape, then try to do something we did when much younger, & it kicks our butts?! You got out there and did the darned thing though, & I’m proud of you! Oh gee Emma that looks like an incredibly heavy backpack! If you want a bag that fits you well, is super light weight, moves with you and is durable, find yourself a backpackers outfitter! Yes prices will be higher but a good fitted bag is kinda like an investment! You will have it for years! It will definitely heighten your hiking experience!

Yes please do more hiking videos. I am a hiker so I love to see you hiking. I lead a women's hiking group. We did 4.75 miles this morning. My favorite part of today's video is seeing you use the chain to pull yourself up those rocks near the top and climb the ladder also to get to finish if off. That was an awesome finish to get to the peak and you did a great job!

J'ai hâte de retourner à Squamish (le 16 Août LOL) Ma meilleure amie va venir à Vancouver avec son mari et ses 2 enfants (12 et 10 ans) et on va passer 3 jours à Squamish. On va séjourner au Squamish Adventure Inn - eux dans une chambre familiale en bas, moi en haut dans un bunk! Visite du musée Britannia et pendant qu'eux vont faire les trails, moi je vais lire dans un hamac et manger au Zéphyr LOL 🌞

We did the Stawamus climb last year. We went up the first and second peak. It’s a fabulous hike. So much to see on the way and then that fabulous view from the top. The hike in Murrin Park is a mini version of the Chief and also a nice view. A few weeks ago we did Tunnel Bluffs which was really great as well! Love that you did this!

I enjoyed your hike. So beautiful. And it is a hike, not a race. We would have missed so much beauty if you had been in a hurry. The Squamish Valley is on my places to see list. I had to laugh at the chipmunk. When we were little our parents took us to the mountains to play while they studied. We always took a walk around the lake just before we headed home. This hike brought back good memories.
That was an amazing hike Emi. Kelly is so sweet and lucky because she gets to see a lot of new and different places that other cats don't get to do. Not every cat can do what she does either. She likes the way you protect her and she protects you too. Thank you for all your hard work to get the beautiful views. Be safe.

BTW that mountain trail is beautiful it reminds me of a state park area that I grew up around known as Nelson Ledges. They're huge boulder rocks & gigantic slabs w/some 200ft drops into cave like areas they say were moved down this way during the ice age when the huge glaciers etc. that came from the Artic region. Anyhoo great vid & beautiful scenery.
