  • Some of the trains that run on the C line are made up of R32-type equipment, which have passenger accessible front windows! This allows for the creation of videos that show the view ahead. Enjoy!

    Best damn C train ride ever! #toostrong

  • @RynardMooreVstar1
    @RynardMooreVstar1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Nice. Yep, used to ride the C all the time back in my NYC days. BTW, it's interesting how graffiti tagging has moved from the trains to the insides of the tunnels. I lived through the great graffiti outbreak in the 70's and everything got tagged except for inside the tunnels. Now since the MTA came up with a way to quickly remove graffiti -- it looks like they leave it in places where they don't really care about it -- like the tunnels. Anyway, to this day, I can't understand why someone would risk getting fried by the third rail or run over by a train just to put graffiti on something.

    • @patrickmorrissey3084

    I'm familiar with the London underground . By contrast the New York subway seems to have much longer platforms and shorter distance between stations. Square tunnels , that's also different .

    • @1575murray
      @1575murray 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have been to London and found that the NYC subway system is more like the first generation subsurface London lines that once operated steam locomotives underground. Some of the NYC system is deep tunneled like the later London deep tube lines which were built after electric propulsion became available. Both systems have somewhat similar histories in the way that they were developed and operated by private companies and then consolidated under government ownership and operation.

    • @markcf83
      @markcf83 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Think of the District/Met/Circle lines. They're surface lines as opposed to the Victoria and Piccadilly lines for instance. By the looks of it, this is a surface line of the New York subway.

    Curious why the Stop Marker "S" at 163 St and the 10 Car marker at 155 St are slightly passed the end station walls at these stations? I never seen this elsewhere in the system, generally they are before the end walls. Are these stations shorter than the normal B division stations, or is there another reason for this?

    • @vidslob128
      @vidslob128 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These stations and also the ones along CPW are somewhat short so the S & 10 car markers are past station limits for full length trains especially 10 car new tech trains.

      @RayArias 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe if I watch it on a big screen, but I'm watching it on my phone. Also, this is from the operator's view, so by the time the train pulls up and stops and all the signs are done going by in a giant blur, there is nothing left but a signal light and a dark subway tunnel to stare at.

      There are fewer trains that you can do this any more as the MTA has basically adopted the full width cabs on the NTT's Only the R32 and R42 are left on the B Division. Occasionally you may see some videos of R46, R68 or NTT's if the TO doesn't block the view, but this is a rare occurrence these days.

      Now you got me intrigued, why don't you think so? He started at 168th st (First stop on the C), and ended at Euclid Av (Last stop on the C)

      The train may take longer at a busy station, also doesn’t always have the green light, and to top it off I find google maps unreliable for trains.

      The C line does not go outside at all. There are two others like that in the Subway, also the E and R lines are all underground.

      @@michaelsanchez2417 Well, unless rerouted, sometimes the C and R lines go above the ground.

      Heck, even the Los Angeles Metro Red and Purple Lines are both entirely underground.

    God clean up the subways. People use them every day and have to put up with them. And tourists use them. It reflects badly in us as a country. Start with Chambers St. worst I’ve ever seen. New York should be embarrassed.

    Logical R211's car assignments
    Base Order (440 cars)
    The Base Order of 440 cars will go to the A and C to retire 356 R46's at Pitkin Yard Meanwhile Both the A and C will continue using their R179's that will leave 75 R211S fo Staten Island Railway
    Option Order 1 (640 cars)
    Partial of the 1st option order which is around 110 cars are going to the A/C as spare units while 250 cars will go to Concourse for D service for upcoming CBTC installations on 6th and 8th avenues meanwhile R68's from Concourse and R68/A's from Coney Island Yard will be transferred to the N, Q and W to Retire Coney Island Yard's R46's with that Broadway Isn't Getting CBTC Anytime soon The E and F can get 280 cars from the First Option Order since Both of those lines have a high ridership
    Option Order 2 405 (5-cars units) and 32 (4-car units)
    The 2nd Option Order will go to Jamaica Yard for service on the E, F and R Since Queens Boulevard E and F lines has a high ridership meanwhile 710 R160's will be displaced to Concourse and Coney Island Yards for B and D service
    The 2nd Option Order of 32 (4-car units) will go to East New York for service on the J/Z and M lines to increase capacity for extra units
    Final Predictions
    A: 310 R211's, 130 R179's, 55 R211's
    C: 130 R211's, 92 R179's, 55 R211's
    B: 405 R160's
    D: 305 R160's, 250 R211's
    E: 308.75 R211's
    F: 308.75 R211's
    G: 215 R160's
    R: 360 R160's, 67.5 R211's
    J/Z: 96 R179's, 56 R143's, 28 R211's
    L: 156 R143's, 56 R160's
    M: 172 R160's, 4 R211's
    N/W: 268 R68's
    Q: 200 R68A's, 80 R68's
    Franklin Aveune Shuttle: 77 R68's
    Rockaway Shuttle: 44 R211's
    Staten Island Railway: 75 R211S
    Edit: Coney Island Yard Won't Receive any R211's Because One the B doesn't run during weekends so insted the R160's will return to Coney Island Yard for B service Two the N Q and W won't need The R211's Since The R211's are CBTC Equipped it doesn't make sense to put NTT's with being CBTC equipped with lines that don't have CBTC like the N, Q and W in order for Broadway to get CBTC you'll have to wait for the R268 order to come in which won't come until the 2030's
