This was SO good! The ease in which you handled all the wide registration jumps was excellent. This aria is brutally difficult and you sang it beautifully.
I already praised this here, but this morning I listened again. This time (still amazed!) I want to observe the irony in the aria itself. With marvelous suave nobility, with perfectly turned phrasing, our singer continually repeats the words "vergogna e rossor (shame and humiliation). Of course, this is exactly what the interpretation calls for, but it's fascinating to hear the balance between the regal delivery and the abject lyrics.
Your stoic interpretation of this hideously difficult aria deserves fame and praise ! Such enjoyment seeing and hearing a singer like you. Greetings and best wishes from Finland !
Bravo!!
You are a superbly gifted singer! Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice, your impressive technique, and your sensitive, intelligent musicianship! Wow!
Wonderful rendition of this fiendishly difficult aria--superbly musical and technically accomplished. I look forward to hearing more from you, hopefully soon in a live opera production! Congratulations!
@@AlexBanfield Yes, you are a hero to me, believe me. I studied operatic singing (baritone) and I know what I am talking about. :) Just stand and sing this aria like you did... Awww... ;)
Thank you, Skip 🙏 Do you mean how do I do the breath control? I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I know one thing that has helped me a lot is making sure I don't lose too much air on consonants, especially the sibilants and plosives which can deplete your reserves quite quickly if you're not careful.
@@AlexBanfield Yes, Alex, that's exactly what I meant. Thank you. I also wondered if, perhaps, you were a runner or did other aerobic activity. I'm a 60 year old baritone who used to have long breath. I worked at it! Lol. I'm now trying many different ways to get that back in my "old" age. I don't want my age to be an excuse.
@@Ruffiello (I'm sorry I missed your reply. I have only seen it just now!) Yes, I love to cycle to and from the theatre. It's about a 20-minute journey one way and I usually make two return journeys a day. I've always imagined that swimming would be a tremendous help with improving breath capacity too. I think I'm lucky to have relatively good lung capacity naturally, but I greatly respect not taking your age as an excuse! Though I'm sure it's not something that gets easier with age, so always be kind to yourself :)
Grazie molto! Alex
Really good! Well done :). When you go into the high notes, do you think a particular vowel shape like "oo" or do you just let the sound be whatever it wants?
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks :) Good question. The high notes I just let them be what they want, but if I had to put a vowel to it (behind the vowel your “supposed” to be singing), I think I’d say yes “oo” but also “ee”, at the same time. It’s almost like those two vowels represent a low relaxed larynx AND the space and lifted soft pallet which creates the freedom for the high notes. Always on a foundation of good support (I am still working on this, very much so!)
What else can one do, apart from liking ❤… beautiful performance and voice, powerful and captivating … How is it possible, this guy is not more famous
Ok. That was fantastic!
