Taking long to get out of a rank that you are clearly better than is a bad thing imo. There's not much good that comes from people who are playing at a rank that they are clearly better than. Most ranked systems will go out of their way to give win streak boosts and what not to make sure people don't have to have the experience of playing vs a Smurf often. I like sf6s ranked system for that reason. But I agree on the game as a whole not giving me a reason to really care about the number or anything. For me Ive mostly just not found any individual character to fit me, dope to hear you're enjoying Terry. Praying Mai fits for me cause I loved her in kof15

It was worse in SFV where 85% of silver and 75% of gold players are PC bots or even lag switchers. Getting out of silver is absolute cancer in SFVm you can have 5 honest fights and win them all then 1 fight witha TAS bot and loose nearly all your LP from the 5 fights.

After I clawed my way back from like 1320 MR to about or so 1473 MR, basically about to finally get to 1500 MR proper, the next MR reset happened ... I was quite disappointed 😒
For me it’s the fact that I can’t get matches online. It takes about 5-8 minutes only for the match making to get timed out. Maybe it’s the time zone and where I live.
in regards to how volatile mr is: i sometimes gain or lose 100-150 mr in a few hours just cuz sometimes it be like that. (granted im bouncing around from 1250 to 1450 generally but like still. tbh you should just be able to drop out of master again instead of staying in tthere forever, would make the ranks before master more of an effort. Sf6 was my first streetfighter ever and i got to master in less than 200 hours, which included practise, custom matches for fun with friends and world tour. and i immediately dropped to like 1100 and im now slowly working my way up again. it was such a whiplash when going from dia5 70%wr to basically a 20 game losing streak in master
More incentive to play ranked would be nice, even if its as simple as a recolor for an existing skin. When I hit master for the first time as a new player I felt like I was finished because I reached a goal. There was nothing to chase afterward. Eventually I found it in myself to improve and reach 1650s but that was because I wanted to and not because the game incentivized me to become better. It would be good if there were rewards for obtaining a higher rank because when people chase a certain rank, improving becomes a byproduct. Right now I feel like YOU have to be motivated to becoming better and the current system implemented does not do anything to motivate the player.
I don´t know where you are coming from but i played a few competitive games outside of fighting games and none of them give you rewards for reaching a very high rank. There are some like LoL, where you get a skin for reaching Gold but that´s something a casual player can reach easily. In fact, if you make exclusive skins for let´s say 1600MR+, people will be very upset about it as most players just can´t reach that level. Grinding to the top is always a personal choice
MR is still very good system. But the main problem is that I think people really misunderstand it (mostly because of how Capcom presents it in a leaderboards). Just because it is represented by a number, they look at it as an asbolute value. But it is a very relative metric. A simplest example I can think of is following. Let's imagine there is a region where every single player is Punk / Mena level player. And they play ranked and they are matched against each other all the time. This would be the strongest region in the world, every game is evo finals level set between wrold class player. But at the end every single player in that region would be around 1500 MR. And if you look at leaderboards you would think those players suck. That's why the MR value in one region represents completely different power level than the same MR value in other region. Sadly there is no way to overcome this wall because we would have to have worldwide matchmaking to assign proper MR value to each player. Right now they are just regional value. I often read comments from like 1800 MR players in EU who think MR system sucks because they are matched agains 1600 MR players and they lose they MR even if they win the set 2-1. But they don't see that in EU 1800 is very high rating and by the nature most of the players they are matched with will be lower rated players than them. And they feel discorauged because they will never get that Legend icon and they wont' get this false dopamine from bigger number.
I'm on the same boat as everyone here..got myself from Gold 1 to Master rank with about 9 months grinding, that to me felt enough..which is a detriment to this game, I have no issues with the rank system itself though
25%+(over 600,000 accounts) of the player base is at 'Masters' in the middle of season 2; compared to only 20,000 players were at super diamond by the end of SFV cycle. This rank system is pathetic
Ranked system feels more or less fine. Of course there could be some goodies like at least a title at the end of a season if you are 1700+, 1800+ etc....but apart from that I think the main problem is a lack of content. Costume 4 should be here already and a fifth character per season would be great. This game feels like its great for newcomers gameplay wise. But its actually not entertaining casual players very great with content drops. At the moment we are really thirsty for every content drop every time it comes. But I think we are not far away from a very different experiencw. Just a little more a little sooner could make all the difference, allow some real momentum and hype to build. I hope we will see seasons with 5 chars plus a few more extras in the future, but I dont think so.
Most of time is spent in training mode because ranked just starts to feel the same. Casual and battle hub are much more fun because I can run long sets. They obviously only care about the people in battle hub because that's the cash cow. Shame they won't let us have any fun in ranked
honestly I dont have a problem with the rating system. It put you at a spot where you should be faster. less smurf for lower rank. Even if you lose a ton because of having a bad day or whatever. It won't destroy your mind that bad. Thats right that make ppl less care about the rating. You know you'll get back to where you should be quickly without grinding. Thats perfect.
Definitely looking forward to characters. Looking forward to costumes is hard... since Capcom hates them apparently. There not enough of them. The rank system is fine in my opinion. But the game needs more variety. They take a bit too much time with that...
Similar things with me and win%. I play a lot of casuals. One day I go into BH for fun. Fought a Marisa. He took first game, I took second game. Then he left on the draw. Was kinda miffed about it. Checked his stats. He had an 88% win rate. He was terrible at the game. He has that win rate because he scouts out low level players to boost himself, while I was seeking to improve my 53. I realized I was where I was because I was playing against all levels, looking for real matches. % doesn't matter because you can be matched with anyone. You can even inflate it artificially. Now I don't even look at it, and I just play to improve. The number is meaningless.
In Battle Hub, if I see an open spot, I sit down. If our skill levels are similar or I'm much stronger than my opponent, I play two or three matches and then leave. If my opponent is much stronger than me, I’ll play a FT5 or FT10.
I get really depressed seeing all the content creators talking about how ranked doesn't matter cuz I'm hard stuck plat 5 for like 2 years. I probably could pass it now, been taking a break to play some other stuff, but it takes the wind out of my sails to hear everybody talking about how reaching master doesn't matter. I don't even know what I'll do when I reach master, but I know I don't care about MR even remotely. I do want to play against high level players, so maybe I'll care in that sense, because it would be cool to get into ranked matches against my favorite content creators, but I don't suspect I'll care about the MR itself ever. In fact, this attitude of people "not really being a master" until 1900 MR or whatever it is now, I find very off putting and elitist (but that's fighting games for you, just saying it's demotivating). It's more likely that if I ever reach master I'll try to get there with multiple characters. Considering how long it's taking me to get there with a main that should probably keep me busy for a while, and that's assuming I don't get distracted by FF:COTW and VF REVO.
@venivediicommented4046 yeah the learning experience was to not take it too seriously. Sparking Zero came out and I played that for a while, and it was a good reminder not to worry so much about it. Dwelling on your losses or not being where you want to be just keeps you stuck, and games are supposed to be fun at the end of the day. Lately I was talking a break to learn Tekken, but then they announced Clive... maybe it's time to switch back to SF 6, lol
At the moment that "Master" rank is just a formality, it doesn't mean sh1t. When I'm playing Ranked, Ranks should mean something. You should be able to be demoted. Also, they should give a different symbols/badges/font for each season. If Capcom doesn't want to work on new costumes themselves, let modders do it. Just pick a few ones for each character and sell the costumes officially. They did that with the New Challenger arts.
The game became boring to play and boring to watch. For the first time ever, Tekken is my main game and I'm loving it. All the game comes down to is poke into Drive Rush into combo into Super for literally every character. Also, there is no Rainbow Mika! 😢😂
Im d5 and a few games from hitting masters but I’ve stopped playing ranked because I realized how useless it is. Why grind ranked and try to hit 1600. When I can just fight my friends who are 1600+ and go to locals in order to get better.
You should atleast get some colors based on ranks and MR at the end of a season, I'd be fun to try to get good with different characters just to get some cool looking colors. Specially since a lot of characters are still stuck with some really lame colors, it's like they want us to mod the game lol I also can't understand how this game is so popular and it has so few skins, dudes took a whole year to sell Juri wearing a onesie. edit: I find it kinda funny when people complain about MR being volatile when they're already playing... SF6
would be nice if you can play ranked in battle hub instead of it being a QUEUE system from menu. it would be more like how the arcade ranked system is in japan
I get bored of ranked real fast. Part of it is because I want a bigger variety of player opponents, ranked seems to get me the same guys over and over. I think my main problem is that the current game doesn't have a character I am crazy for. In SFV I really liked Cammy, but I don't like her 6 iteration at all. I play Juri just because I tried her in the open beta and she seemed to be the easiest to get into, but I'm not super into the character, and I don't like the other ones too much either. The new character's are coming way too slow.
I think the 1500 rating needs to degrade over time so people feel some need to go back to it. A lot of players who are fresh 1500s really are at the 1300-1400s though.
Sometimes less is more. If i saw a master in 5 i knew theyd destroy me 99/100 times. In 6 im not so sure when ppl like dsp can reach it, not to mention all the safety nets
There needs to be some penalty for not playing when you hit legend, too many players get high rank then stop playing, staying at the top of the leader boards while the rest of us have to fight players with lower points, never being able to get any higher without winning a million matches in a row. That's not fair since most of the legends just get there at the beginning of an mr reset much easier and don't have to risk their points. Same people at the top every time, no risk for them and no chance for everyone else. I'm fed up of trying to get Mr up at about 3-7 points at a time losing 10-15 from one loss, especially when the game is so scrubby and brain dead.
I don't feel hype about the balance patch because my favorite characters still almost the same, and the Ken armies still strong as fxxk Terry become a much better character, but still very likely the worst shoto to play Unga banga? Why not I pick Ken, Akuma and Ryu? Especially Ken, the one and only King of shoto Solid neutral game? Every shoto work better than Terry Design of this character is pretty much a failure, maybe they should stop introduce more shoto Luke got some buff but not much, there are some useful buff, yet most of them are not critical, good to have though If you ask me I would say the buff of his 6HP, 2MK, sandblast wall splat, DDT damage etc, all of those buff do not really matters
Game needs more patches, more skins for the actual characters, and spice it up give us another CA option similar to the ultra 1 or 2 option in sf4. How we pay more now and get less is wild to me. The juke box is the best thing they have done post launch.
I liked the big picture thoughts. Congrats on master & the winrate. Good to know how much time you spend in those modes. For the graph, some might stop at Master to try & master another character. 🙂 Interesting on Japan TH-cam numbers. I'm thanful to be online for some months after 9 months of an ID link error screen, so SiRN Bison, V-Rival, Room, kudos/titles & all online stuff has been fun. Wish I could play more & want to do more ranked (just in silver). No ranked trophy is cool. Yeah, no hero worship- I just watch good players w/my main. 😉Nice vid.
I stopped caring about ranked like day 2 when I was doing placements and climbing only to do placements with a character I dont even know how to play and got placed in diamond when I am plat from climbing with characters I tried to learn, then purposely lost all 10 games with a character I will never play and get put in high plat, higher than most of the characters I had been playing with. I basically stopped playing ranked then. Ranking system in the game is a joke.

That was me in 5 lol, i didnt like all the salt the points induced and the netcode bs etc so i almost purely played lounge which was less toxic. But after 6 came out (i dont play it) it was almost impossible to find ppl online outside of ranked anymore so when i occasionally hop back on 5 i usually gotta go ranked. Got a 13 fight win streak one time cuz i havent played ranked since like 2019 when i was ass
@@pastorofmuppets9346hit the nail on the head. There are just no characters that I’m interested in that fit the play style that I want to run. Hopefully Mai saves us!
I main Mai in XV, so hello fella Mai lover 😂. Anyway I just drop SF6 by the time Vice & Mature came and then when Mai drop in SF6 I will go back for a while until FF:COTW arrive.
@@hipsterroxas2626 I am the same bro and while I do play mai in KoF I know she wont be my character in SF6. I like neutral play characters. She is gonna have a cammy style instant air dive kick.
As a casual player, I got to gold and stopped. It was better than I thought I'd ever get and about as far as I was going to get without taking the game seriously and trying to properly learn it.
Do you know any casual friendly community online? I've been looking for one but no dice.
Afraid not. I just play against my friend.
After I clawed my way back from like 1320 MR to about or so 1473 MR, basically about to finally get to 1500 MR proper, the next MR reset happened ...
I was quite disappointed 😒
I hear you! I fluctuated from 1400 to 1500. I see Mura with a 76% win rate and wonder what is wrong with me.
Hearing mura say gooners just made my day
For me it’s the fact that I can’t get matches online.
Just give me drive tickets and fighter coins for grinding ranked
I'm on the same boat as everyone here..got myself from Gold 1 to Master rank with about 9 months grinding, that to me felt enough..which is a detriment to this game, I have no issues with the rank system itself though
25%+(over 600,000 accounts) of the player base is at 'Masters' in the middle of season 2; compared to only 20,000 players were at super diamond by the end of SFV cycle.
This rank system is pathetic
My goal is to get 1800mr. And stay consistently. Im good with that for this old OG.
They should have titles for MR. 1600-1699 is Grandmaster 1700-1799 is Warlord etc
Miura, there’s no way you have only that much time spent in game. No way.
Online but i play so much more on offline gatherings
If my opponent is much stronger than me, I’ll play a FT5 or FT10.
probably going to get costume 4 by the end of season 2
It's about what matters to you.
People will absolutely hate free content becoming payed.
They should just hire modders to do entirely new costumes.
Because why not?
i got sick of the one and dones and basically play exclusively in battle hub now. running extended sets is much better for improving imo.
Know what’s worse? Beating someone, giving them the rematch, and having them win the rematch and leaving. This is why people one and done.
You should atleast get some colors based on ranks and MR at the end of a season, I'd be fun to try to get good with different characters just to get some cool looking colors.
Specially since a lot of characters are still stuck with some really lame colors, it's like they want us to mod the game lol
I also can't understand how this game is so popular and it has so few skins, dudes took a whole year to sell Juri wearing a onesie.
edit: I find it kinda funny when people complain about MR being volatile when they're already playing... SF6
would be nice if you can play ranked in battle hub instead of it being a QUEUE system from menu. it would be more like how the arcade ranked system is in japan
Jaban
I don't feel hype about the balance patch because my favorite characters still almost the same, and the Ken armies still strong as fxxk
Terry become a much better character, but still very likely the worst shoto to play
Unga banga? Why not I pick Ken, Akuma and Ryu? Especially Ken, the one and only King of shoto
Solid neutral game? Every shoto work better than Terry
Design of this character is pretty much a failure, maybe they should stop introduce more shoto
Luke got some buff but not much, there are some useful buff, yet most of them are not critical, good to have though
If you ask me I would say the buff of his 6HP, 2MK, sandblast wall splat, DDT damage etc, all of those buff do not really matters
need SSF6 already
😂silver Ken….sfv ….thats me
Marvel rivals is the hype right now lol
Game needs more patches, more skins for the actual characters, and spice it up give us another CA option similar to the ultra 1 or 2 option in sf4.
How we pay more now and get less is wild to me. The juke box is the best thing they have done post launch.
If you ask me, there's no reason to have 2d style fighters anymore. They need to add 3d movement with the 2d Playstyle. It's time and it's doable.
Game is too busted, burnout and drive rush
Street Fighter 6 is stingy with costumes and skins even for the avatars
