Ya that's what I did the next day when tech support finally got back to me lol. At first i thought I burnt off some oil but when I measured the old fluid was about 3.3 oz. I just forgot to make a note in the video.
Question: I got the AC-Delco SC Oil. The people @Buick told me I needed 6 oz, so they sold me two bottles. Here you're telling me I need a little under one? This SC looks similar to the one on my 98 Buick Regal GS. Could you anyone advise on the proper oil capacity for a SC on that model? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the video. It's the general concept that helps me out a lot. My technique would have differed as I'm sure everyone else watching this would have their own preference of tools and technique. What matters is that you got the job done and saved $1k in parts and labor, mainly labor, compared to having a local mechanic doing it and they wouldn't have gone as far as cleaning the internals or replacing the worn down coupler, just replace the fluid probably and put it back on with a new belt and still charge you at least $750. I'll be doing this on a Mini Cooper r53 which also has eaton supercharger and trust me if I had BMW/Mini do it the cost will be more than what it's worth.
Thanks for great info. May I ask what is the coupler that needs replacing? Also have you noticed burnt fumes coming from Supercharger that indicates low oil levels? Thanks, I will also try replacing my SC oils.
Don’t let hater’s stop you, this is the best way to learn is BY DOING IT, and to the haters “ why don’t you provide some useful knowledge of what he should’ve done, I just read you shouldn’t have done this and you shouldn’t of done that besides stating a better SOLUTION “ Like when prying maybe you should use some thing that’s more malleable than the aluminum when separating the cases so you don’t score it “, just ignorant people Sorry but it’s true “help somebody don’t to hurt them” part of accomplishing someone’s dreams or obstacles is ACTING ON THEM not just dreaming of them, keep up the videos I might’ve missed it but torque specs would’ve been nice if you didn’t say it, These videos definitely help even if you are an experienced mechanic that never dove in to this particular part because it gives a sort of heads up what you’re running into, thank you🙏🏻👍👿👎💯
What about those needle bearings? Did you spray them out then repack them, just push new grease in, just grease the noses? Thats the sketchiest part for me.
To pry appart you can jack with screw and nut, cut a srew to the exact fit on the three crevices and unscrew the nut while inside. But thanks for teaching , I wonder if you replaced the shaft seal to the pulley?
A few things I'm worried about in this video : 1. You risk scoring the mating surfaces whe prying it apart with a screwdriver surly 2. All that excess brake cleaner, will it not work its way into the sealed bearings on the front and ultimately kill them? 3. You wipe off the excess sealer from the outside of the case... What about the inside.... Maybe too much gasket maker ? The grease you use on the rear bearings, did you clean them or even check what the original grease was that is used incase of chemical reaction and noting the amount used, as too much grease is as bad as none at all...
Since no one answered you, I can tell you that for the similar Eaton unit on my Jaguar XKR they say it's good for about 100,000 miles before it should be serviced.

the proper amount of oil is 100-110 ml. your blower has over 2 times the proper amount and is going to most likely leak sooner rather then later.
