Lead singer is Freddie Mercury. He had a 4 octave range. Had a degree in graphic design. Guitarist is Sir Dr Brian May. Made his own guitar with his father that he uses to this day called the Red Special. He is an Astrophysicist. Drummer is Roger Taylor and has a degree in Biology. John Deacon is the Bassist and has a degree in electrical engineering. Queen is the only band that all members wrote a #1 hit and all of them wrote multiple #1 hits. You won’t find another band that accomplished what these four men did.

There were no in-ear monitors at that time. Everyone, including Queen, used floor monitors. Basically they’re wedge-shaped speakers that point at the band rather than the audience.

Yep. Everything is fake, perverted & dull. I do not need flashing lights, fog smoke, exotic dress & foul mouths and a bunch of useless dancers on stage. Its more like a Broadway Show then raw talent. You know with all the aerobic dancing, they are getting tons of help with the voice. Sad.

@@PradaWest It's irritating. And sometimes perfect pitch isn't the perfect moment in a song. Sometimes the right emotion is created with just a tad flat or sharp. Like with Aretha Franklin. I saw an analysis of her singing, and her voice was spot on every time, except in those just perfect moments, like in "Respect", when having it slide a tad to the left of perfect made you feel the song.

The lead singer, Freddie Mercury, would actually pass away 10 years to the date from this performance. He died of AIDS in 1991. Tragic loss to the world of music. By all accounts, he was a wonderful person in addition to one of the best singers in history.

He was indeed a wonderful person. It's fun to go on a deep dive into his personal life. He was pretty good in business as well. Like he made a lot of investments with his money, and his first earnings went to his family, random people who worked in his home. His former girlfriend, Mary Austin, who he said he still always loved, because love isn't determined by who you have sex with. The man just had a good heart.

This is one of the greatest live performances ever. Freddie Meryury was an untrained singer, never took singing lessons, bue was a huge fan of Aretha Franklin, loved her early gospel style singing, and he learned a lot by listening to her records. Freddie wrote this song as a tribute to Aretha. The most famous Queen song is the Bohemian Rhapsody.

Queen is HUGE and Freddie Mercury was a phenomenon, the lead singer/piano, Roger Taylor on drums/great falsetto/, Sir Brian May on lead guitar/vocals/curly hair abounds, John Deacon on base/great at electronics. They all wrote the songs, quite a democracy among them, and a 21 year run before Freddie passed away so young, RIP, will love him forever, such a great performer, genius musically, a great person irl, the opposite of his on-stage persona, which surprises so many people.. The Live Aide set in 1985 is a must for anyone wanting to see them do the greatest live performance ever, even though Freddie performed with a throat infection and against doctors orders. 72,000 people there at Wembly, 1.4 billion people saw it on tv, shown worldwide. And the Bohemian Rhapsody official video from 1975 (remastered) is also a must, if nothing else. Groundbreaking, as they were with most if their songs over the years. Always experimenting, perfection.

For a few years in the 80s, Queen was the most popular band on the planet. They are still one of the highest grossing bands -- if not the highest ever. Freddie Mercury is probably the greatest frontman to hit the stage. All four members are phenomenally talented but Freddie, he was touched by the gods. Queen concerts were more like parties than performances, and the audiences were the invited guests. Someone has probably already suggested you check out their set at the 1985 charity concert Live Aid. It is considered to be the greatest live rock performance ever.

Queen is considered the greatest rock band in history by MANY, myself included. I much prefer their live performances for obvious reasons. This is a great example, but there are so many others you'd love. Four master musicians came together and it's truly lightning in a bottle. They were well-rehearsed, passionate and they performed with a conviction not seen before or since. Check out their 20 minute set from Live-Aid in 1985, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions from this Montreal show in 1981 and Who Wants to Live Forever from their 1986 show in Budapest. Freddie was a very rare talent. Amazing singer, and a talented pianist, and more importantly, he could write amazing, catchy music! He lived life fast!! Freddy was the best singer of all time.
He had 2 vocal cords and a built-in auto-tune (he had to because that wasn't invented yet) and could sing low and high notes in every style like it was nothing.
That and their songs ROCK so I will be a Queen fan for LIFE.

There's so much to say about this band. Few hit the cultural zeitgeist like Queen did. You've bound to know a few of their songs and perhaps not realised. As a rap fan you might like "Stone Cold Crazy" and "We Will Rock You". Some modern music historians cite them as 'proto rep'

Queen fan here since more about 40 years. Freddie 's voice - one of best in the world. Another unbelievable voice " Dimash Kudaibergen" singing OGNI PIETRA aka known as OLYMPICO from the Arnau Concert on his own channel. This guy has an 7 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. Plays multiple instruments and is also a very humble person. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it. All the best from Germany 🇩🇪 Petra

This is my favorite live performance of this song, the band is spot on and Freddie's voice is perfection. This was written by Freddie Mercury and is a homage to Aretha Franklin who he absolutely admired. He never got to sing with her, though he always had hoped to but their paths never crossed to do so. Thank you for your reaction. My other favorite live Queen performance is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. In that video you will not only see Freddie's vocal talents shine, you will see what may be the perfect instrumental portion that lasts 1.75 minutes. It is screaming and crying heavy guitar and flashy piano that is nearly impossible to grasp as being live. If you appreciate good musicianship, this is a performance not to be missed. Again, thank you for reacting to this great performance by Queen at Montreal (Which is an incredible concert in total and was filmed in 8mm film so the video quality is excellent). This is all before autotune and earpieces so recognizing the quality of musicianship of this band becomes quite obvious.

thanks, Prada... Freddie is awesome, but this is a whole BAND.. everyone is at their best, and this entire concert is gold.. no back-up tapes, no "autotune"... so glad you picked this one.. although they have many amazing live performances.. appreciate your reaction... (p.s. Freddie said he was inspired by Aretha Franklin when he wrote this.. you can get that "church vibe" with the call-backs.. right?).. oh yeah, and you also know a lot of Queen songs you may never have known were by them: how about "another one bites the dust" "Under pressure (with David Bowie.. bassline ripped off by Van Winkel.. got sued for it and LOST)... "we will rock you/we are the champions"... etc. look forward to more...
