I saw the ZM11 watch in the flesh yesterday. I must say they look much nicer in person. I think Leica has found a good balance between kitsch marketing piece and a serious watch. The dial, movement and overall presentation is very serious. I really like the use of the Leica font in both the date numbers and around the inner dial- clever touch that only Leica camera users will notice. Nice move Leica. Blue in Ti would be a solid addition yet the steel looks very nice. Integrated bracelet is done as good as any integrated. I’m very interested!
When I was a student, 20+ years ago, I was working in a camera shop, and we were selling Leica. The cameras were and are superb. The history, the pleasure of the mechanic precision, the german design and all the rest. I used them, I loved them, still do.
But please Leica, just make cameras.

They do just with some watches in their portfolio too 😁
It's called brand stretching. Many brands move into different product categories. Using their expertise from what they are famous for to make something they are not known for. It does not mean they don't want to do their original business anymore. It's just to diversify their business, and have more revenue streams. It's not wise to put all your eggs in one basket. Nor to rely on only one industry/business to make money.
It's cool but not 6k cool lol, at that price range can get better things.

This is going to be a challenge, however they do have a strong community therefore I don't see any problem for them to sell out.

No. They can be purchased extra and will fit.
Ughhhh, it would be so cool to have one. I use Leica metrology equipment all day at work, 7 grand is a tough sell though. Though it’s a bargain compared to their $250K laser trackers

They are certainly very beautiful watches. It will bebvery interesting to see if Leica can establish themselves in horology and become well known for it
Only time can tell. However they are putting a lot of effort in it.

Nica watch, but for that price, I’d go for something else, like an Omega, or IWC or a Zenith, even a second hand.

Errr .."Swiss Made"?! Says on the bezel. Was not Leica insisting of calling their watches and cameras "German Made"?
For that money this watch would be at the end of a very long queue, including about a dozen micro brands that offer much for for less than half the price. The dial is boring / uninspired and they are not a name in watches to justify anything about this pricing.

tbh all the leica watches are really ugly. They don't represent Leica at all either. Instead of sleek functionality they went for loud design.
What would you change?
@@NikolausHirsch I feel if they designed a watch from their own style it would look more like a braun or junghans watch. So I guess they tried to differentiate themselves and over did it. But I think it would be better if they stuck to their own doctrine. Simple Functional design, top machining and quality. Precision comes to mind when I think Leica. The watch has way too much going on, heavy organic curves (almost early 2000’s „aliens“ and rounded bevels etc. Leica products never have organic shapes, and they chamfer almost all their edges. Therefor I would give the watch a really good movement. Maybe they would produce a custom rotor or something. and a simple sleek, sharper design. Brushed steel case. With a domed crystal, to reference their lenses, maybe it chamfered or have a unique coating, and it would be of course made in their lens factories. Maybe the second hand would a red accent.
