  • It’s #TillerTuesday! 🐍
Fort Myers Fire Department’s Ti11er is the first #TDA in their city!
The crew cab has easy to-clean vinyl floors and provides ample space for their firefighters and storage for electronics. The transverse compartment on the rear of the cab will be used to store the engineer’s equipment and EMS equipment. Within the first transverse compartment on the driver’s side of this #AscendantTDA, a two-way sliding tool board will provide tool storage. A body compartment includes a transverse tray which can extend out on either side of the apparatus. Rubber rails allow for inlayed emergency lighting for a flush appearance on this #TractorDrawnAerial. The rear transverse compartment is reserved for housing the stokes basket and tactical rescue equipment. To enhance the tillerman’s visibility, angles surrounding the rear wheels have been optimized to improve visibility when navigating narrow roads. The steps ascending to the tillerman’s cab are aligned with the cab door, providing a clear and safe path to the seat. A convex mirror, supported by an arm, steadies the mirror during travel on uneven surfaces. An intake on both sides is positioned to receive water from another apparatus on scene. A 360-degree camera system ensures maximum visibility on scene including stabilizer setup. To maximize firefighter safety and efficiency, saw scabbards and aerial controls are mounted on the end of the aerial. The roof and ground ladders are positioned to be retrieved from ground level to further optimize functionality and safety on scene. #FortMyersFL

When I was a kid back in the day in NYC they had a lot of these trucks but they were called "Hook & Ladder".

Excellent idea of compartment back so tiller person can see rear tires center views 😊😊 I hope other Departments see this as a build design 😊 that very small loss of compartment space in exchange for Tiller sight is just amazing design on this dedicated Ladder rig 😊❤😊

Thank you so much for walk through of compartment 😊 I love how they have designed storage for future usage 😊
That as any FF knows, there is that piece of equipment that we need to put on later. I just love how they thought of compartment that were EMPTY at build.
All you Hook & Ladder guys and gals know on a dedicated Ladder only. There is the ideas that come later 😊 and were do we put the storage 😊

Awesome. Congrats on your first TDA. I spent many years on tillers as a FF, Operator, and Captain. Best job(s) in the FD. Once a crew gets enough training hours in, it is nothing short of amazing how they can get a TDA into position and set-up the aerial for roof access or a ladder pipe operation. Not to mention no other ladder truck configuration offers as many cubic feet of compartment space as a tiller. Have fun Ft. Meyers truckies!

Fairly well thought out rig. Looks like you have done your homework. Only question was, why didn't you plumb the rear for an intake?
