- Christopher was one of the original residents at the sanctuary. Typically, adult male orangutans with full facial flanges (known as “cheekpadders”) do not tolerate another male in their territory. However, since Pongo and Christopher grew up together, they developed a brotherly bond and remained in the same habitat for several years as full adults. Today, they each live with a female companion but still enjoy visiting each other in the aerial trailways.
Chris and Pebbles, his female companion, love to play-wrestle together. Pebbles will follow Chris around like a shadow and loves to try to steal his food, but he willingly gives it to her.

Bless these two beautiful creatures and bless the Centre for giving them a happy life.❤
This gentleman, I guess his name is Christopher. Well he is such a beautiful male orangutan, just gorgeous
Orangs are just so cool. We could learn many, many things from them if we would just open our eyes
Happy birthday to Christopher!
From my understanding the female orangutans find the "cheekpadders" attractive.
To: @eugeniaskelley5194 - Ha, ha! They do indeed. it is thought now that, due to the variation in size between the males, that those with the larger cheekpads are more virile and that this in turn inhibits the growth of the pads in those who are less so and live in close proximity.
Love the constant uploads lately
Thanks - we are trying our best to keep posting about the great apes!
Christopher 💗💗💗
Christopher ❤️
It would still be awesome if you could try the orangutan reflection I loved the chimpanzee one!
We will see what we can do. Thanks!
Are they related?
Bigfoot is real and it’s called a orangutan
I was thinking the same thing.
Looks like little pebbles wears the pants in the relationship
