This song features a piano solo by the American keyboardist, Mike Garson. Bowie reportedly rejected Garson's initial solo attempts, one of which was in a blues style, the other in a Latin style, instead asking for something akin to "avant-garde jazz." Garson thus decided to improvise and the solo that you hear was recorded in just one take. Garson commented: "I've had more communication in the last 26 years about that one solo than the 11 albums I've done on my own, the six that I've done with another group that I'm co-leader of, hundreds of pieces I've done with other people and the 3,000 pieces of music I've written to date. I don't think there's been a week in those 26 years that have gone by without someone, somewhere, asking me about it!"
@@augmentedkeys5971 You are confusing this song with Aladdin Sane. The first part of your story is accurate, but Bowie didn't ask for an avantgarde solo for this song, but rather something that wad reminiscent of romantic classical composers like Liszt.
She'll come, she'll go She'll lay belief on you Skin sweet with musky oil The lady from another grinning soul Cologne she'll wear Silver and Americard She'll drive a beetle car And beat you down at cool Canasta [Chorus] And when the clothes are strewn Don't be afraid of the room Touch the fullness of her breast Feel the love of her caress She will be your living end [Verse 2] She'll come, she'll goShe'll lay belief on youBut she won't stake her life on youHow can life become her point of view [Chorus] And when the clothes are strewn Don't be afraid of the room Touch the fullness of her breast Feel the love of her caress She will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living end
This song is beautiful! A violinist I listen to, Lucia Micarelli, covered this masterpiece on her debut album. She performed it so well. She made that instrument sing. David Bowie really had a great voice and great musicality.
Una de las más bellas canciones que he escuchado en mi vida. El artista más prolífico que nos deja la humanidad. Bello, bello, siempre bello. Profundo y reflexivo su mensaje a través de su arte.
I tried to sing along with this and it was so moving. “Feel the fullness of her breast, feel the love of her sweet caress, * she will be your living End*”
I have always wondered if the woman described in the song was supported to represent Death? Great arrangement, great piano, Mick's guitar work at the end really captures a mood.
How can a song from 1973 sound so good now? The Genius of Bowie!!
Ikr! It sounds better than most songs nowadays.
don't forget David is from the 23rd century......
Because he is a music god
@@sh1121 every music is good in it's own way to different people.
Because he was a musical genius!!
I was a teenager when this came out. I grew up with all of Bowie's music. I wish I could go back to those times, it was so much better.
I agree. My brother turned me on to Bowie and music. He's gone. Id give anythibg to go back.
MAGICAL PIANO TO MATCH HIS MAGICAL VOICE
I’m so glad I’m old enough now to have been young enough back then …..so many memories…….RIP TB , MR and DB.
excellent piano

Skin sweet with musky oil

Silver and Americard

And when the clothes are strewn
Don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living endShe will be your living end
