I believe this whole album is a homage to those who have influenced the members. The lyrics reflect that. But also the album title, which is a prog band from the 70s. @@nooneelse4982 thanks captain obvious, all death metal is underground by mainstream standards, but "underground death metal" doesn't mean ALL death metal because that would be stupid, death and cannibal corpse are also not underground because every metalhead knows them even if they both have
@@blackenedizzycore i dont know why you are getting upset and aggressive, you agree that CC is mainstream mainly to people who listen to extreme metal/metalheads.
Even for an average listener listens to metal, its likely the heaviest thing they listen to is Slipknot or metalcore. The original comment said its a great year for underground death metal before the edit, and you agree that death metal is underground in general. You just wanna feel cool about searching on metallum for bands with 2 followers on Spotify and flexing it on someone a random stranger. If there is mainstream/non-underground death metal would be probably be melodeath.
I didn't even know about this band but this record slaps. Thanks, Anthony.
Amazing, never thought I would see this review
Maybe my favorite album this year
Not to sound too biased but Blood Incantation are perfect little alien angels that can do no wrong. 13/10
I was hooked when The Stargate vid dropped. One of the most interesting evolutions of Metal in many years. I didn't massively get into their last album. But this one is probably album of the year for me.
What a year for metal. And we still have a new Defeated Sanity coming!
Very interesting band...love the atmospheric psychedelic parts
This is a 10 for me, I cannot find a flaw with this one.
I'm with you on this, groundbreaking and important music
I don't even listen to metal but this album was so good, it definetly deserves a 9
If you like this, definitely recommend branching out into more “prog metal”, or “avant-garde” and/or “experimental”.. whatever adjective you want to give it that denotes more complexity and hopefully more depth.. I really didn’t listen to a lot of metal before 2018, but stuff like this that wasn’t “just metal” changed that, and I haven’t looked back. Would add, I was 31 in 2018, so already had my tastes very developed.. Shows you can get into new genres as you get older. ✌️
@@nikolademitri731 i mean i can say i know some metal because my dad's a metalhead and he showed me this album in the first place but my biggest problem with metal is probably the style of "singing" but it's probably something i could get used to
You dont listen to metal but you were able to get into this as a non metal listener? I dont think you listened to a single second of this album
@@glockdookie5231 i did listen to the whole thing
@@Garfilt77 dude, the harsh vocals were also my biggest issue for years, but if/when you dig deeper, you’ll find it’s not all just awful screeching and/or cartoonish cookie monster sh!t.. I mean, a lot of it *is* that, but there’s good death, black, grind, etc, with vocals I find range from definitely tolerable to surprisingly enjoyable.. it all depends on your taste and what you can get down with obviously.. I’m just saying, as someone whose biggest barrier to metal was the harsh vocals, I became a fan once I actually explored the genre more deeply, from the 80s to today..
I mean, I always like “doom” and a lot of old school heavy metal, that stuff doesn’t have the same high bar of entry. I’m talking the “extreme metal”.. If you like the music, there’s artists you can definitely get into, even love. ✌️
You can tell hes glad he repurchased his stache by how he touches it every 12 seconds
Fantano's first criticism the album for one of its most esoteric deep cuts: the band acknowledged their influence from Lykathea Aflame's Elvenefris, perhaps the only other album in the entirety of metal comparable to this album and if anyone in this comment section sees this post, go listen to that album right now if you have not heard it and enjoy two 10/10s back to back.
Over the years I‘ve noticed, that pretty much every time you describe something as a 3/4 time signature it’s actually 6/8.
Not a big deal, but they are very different in feel!
Besides that, I LOVE this album!
Definitely a 9 for me
I listened to Carcass Sepultura Death etc. in the early 90s and I must say Blood Incantation is the only band that reignited my interest in death metal in the last decades
album of the yeaaaaaaaaaaar suckers
Saw Blood Incantation open for Gorguts and Cannibal Corpse last year. Good band that put on a good show. New album Absolute Elsewhere is great and definitely lives up to the hype.
Geeked, haven’t listened to this yet but Undeath’s More Insane is also a banger hope we get a review for that soon to
This album is great and I'm very tempted to see these guys live in a few weeks when they hit Boston.
Never expected a death metal band to get a feature from Tangerine Dream! lol so cool
i reallllly like it. my first time listening to this band and i love so many things about it.
Scarcity, Crypt of Reason, Vile Rites, Pyrrhon, and now this. Really a good year for extreme metal.
And Ingurgitating Oblivion.. if you don’t know them, check out their new album. Really incredible, up there with the best of 2024 imo.
@@nikolademitri731 thanks for the advice! I'll listen to it tonight
Also wormed and ulcerate and cosmic putrefaction and spectral voice.
@@nikolademitri731incredible album
@@zanecoutts9986 Oh yeah! Totally forgot about cosmic putrefaction. Their new record is solid. Siderean is another band that released a great record this year.
As for Ulcerate... I like their previous LP. This year's effort is not my cup of tea (especially production-wise; too much reverb for me). The band is great though. I like their material.
Wormed and Spectral Voice will be checked-out today-tomorrow. Thanks!
We're never getting a metal album that's a 10, are we?
Good review on this. I was curious about what you’d say about the Pink Floyd section. Much agreed. Spinning this one a lot, though, really good stuff
Great listen! More like a 9 for me
I didn't love all their previous stuff, but I'm eager to check this out for sure!
Side note, I'd love for you to check out Trog's 'Horror's Beyond' album. You got me into 'Of Vomit Reborn' so I'm curious to hear your thoughts on their LP.
I believe this whole album is a homage to those who have influenced the members.
The lyrics reflect that. But also the album title, which is a prog band from the 70s.
Then when "The Message" starts, to me, reminds me of the album Elvenefris by Lykathea Aflame and then evolves into Pink Floyd and the Death and Morbid Angel death metal influences.
This album is 10 imo. It's approachable to the layman.
I described my experience to a friend quite similarly. When I listened to Hidden History in 2019 I thought it was a cool album but not something I would go back for a whole lot. This album though, when I finished the last track on my first playthrough I immediately started back at the top. It pulled me back in! Can't remember the last time a metal album did that for me
Same
I think this deserves higher than an 8. I’ve never really cared for BI… I don’t dislike them but outside of Timewave Zero, I didn’t really care. This album on the other hand blew my mind.
Timewave zero is literally just like synth noises. Not really an album imo
"pretty much perfection" wow
One of the sickest most diverse band out there. Love everything they do. Solid 9 for me.
Misophonia gang represent! Chewing noises and Noah Kahan really set me off
You woulda given this a 10 if they were called Blood Incantaloupe, Melon
Been waiting for this oneee
Best DM album I’ve heard in the past 10yrs. Deal with it
Masterpiece 10/10
10/10 AOTY God help your wretched soul.
Saw Steve roach with them for the album release show and their sounds meshed so well
you had my like just from the cover of the video alone, this shit is so cool and funny, that cover art is amazing.
Easily a 9, possibly even a 10, at least for metal guys, but let's give it some time
I’d say light 9 but still. Sick album for sure. It’s pretty addicting too
STILL WAITING FOR THOSE HARMS WAY, SPIRIT POSSESSION, BELL WITCH, GEL, ETC REVIEWS FRON LAST YEAR, GAAAWWWD
You should rate ethereal tombs self titled album. It’s a tiny band but an absolutely incredible album
Fulci-Duck Face Killings. Next review pls
Good luck with that, fantano reviews one metal record and then goes 2 months without any
How does Bloodthony Incantano like this album but not the band Opeth I wonder
This album gets better and better every time I listen to it.
I mean… yeah, this is a cool album and band, but you should be reviewing Exogalactic by Xoth for that sci-fi metal goodness. Just sayin. 🤘😎
strong 8 is harsh.
this album is at least a 9. ;-)
possibly the most interesting non lizard based band around at the moment of any genre
Idk what I was expecting with AE but this album is actually incredible in every way. Handily a 10/10 for me
