Hi guys. Been using this keyboard for since late 2020. Close to 2 years?
Got myself the GX Blue Switch variant. Pretty decent keyboard I would say.
Actuation of the keys are pretty high and heavy. Will definitely require some getting use to especially if you are changing from lets say Razer Keyboards with Green/ Purple Switches (opto-mechanical).
The sound on this keys are pretty loud compared to any other mechanical keyboards I've used so far. Like LOUD.
For its price, it's definitely worth it.
Some downsides are things like... I wish they could include media buttons rather than having to use FN. Also, this keyboard uses ABS keycaps. Which means the keycaps will start peeling and turn transparent. Mine started peeling recently, especially for keys that you use very frequently like WASD UDLR Space Shift CTRL.
Went ahead and got myself PBT pudding keycaps but failed to double check if they were suitable. Some keycaps didn't fit this keyboard that has stablisers like your Shift, Spacebars, Enter so do take note if you want to change your keycaps. Find those which fits otherwise you will be wasting money like me. Newbie to keycaps here!
Enjoyed the review, but the use of "tactical" rather than "tactile" was gruelling. Overall good stuff and keep it up!

The quarter inch screw hole in the back of the keyboard is for mounting or attaching it to a stand. It is also used to mount a Vive Tracker to your keyboard that is used in Vive VR.

Also that USB outlet is good because the keyboard has 2 USB cables so you dont have to worry about losing a USB outlet.
The second cable is for the usb pass through. You can not plug it in if you wish to use the usb for something else. Only the USB passthrough functionality will change. The keyboard will still function fully.
i upgraded from a razer chroma to the g512 and my typing speed literally went from ~65 to ~75 wpm in a day
me just randomly picking it at target and the fact it was also the last one to be sold and i was the person who took the last one. They also had the keyboard review without glass protection on top of the boxes. I just picked it because of how good it sounded and how clicky it was and i didn't even realize.. that was not just the end of the story.

No multimedia functions is a pro not a con. This is a keyboard designed to be slick and clean without all the extra shit.
That's why I like Logitech products so much - great value with slick looks, no bells and whistles.

I don't know why, but my (!@#$%^) Special characters and (mute,+-) Multimedia Keys have backlit on them.
@@menacingbird289 Well I think it's much better lit up than not. Why buy or what's the use of backlit for, when it does not lit up...
For games I might understand, but for Office / Coders, It would be disappointing not to have those keys lit up, especially working with lights off.
It's just my opinion though.
I like this keyboard because only characters are lit up. No light noises.

@@dl1357 no not really I haven't have one(since I don't own one yet) but I did try to feel it on the display from a store and it kinda felt like the keyboard I used to play where I misclick the CTRL sometimes.
I had a G512 for almost a year but in like 6 months the keycaps started wearing off and chipping. After a few more months it was in an horrible state. I returned it and had the option of getting another one but after reading that it was a prevalent issue that happened a lot with the G512 and other Logitech models I decided to just have my momey back and buy something else.
Spray it with some clear and you'll be good
the blue switches on the G512 feel sorta linear than clicky

The only thing I hate in this keyboard (after owning it) is that there is no RGB lighting on special characters. Its very hard to work with it.

Ten years ago my keyboard had a LCD display that would tell me all kinds of things. It had a volume wheel and media buttons. It also had rebindable macro keys. Now for the same price the only celebrated feature is a usb pass through port.
I still have that keyboard!!! I think it was the G510.

Compared to the pro I feel like the keys are more spaced out. Is this the case or is it just the perspective as the pro doesn’t have a numpad?
The pro is compact this isnt, the keys on the pro are purposely jammed together

You basically have to download its software, which is basically just an app. To find it you should just look up the name of the keyboard and then software after that

I just got this keyboard and im having a hard time figuring out what the hole on the back is for? it's got some kind of thread on the inside. at first i thought it was a 3.5mm jack but it wasnn't. any ideas anyone?

Tung Dang Probably the GX blues. I believe they have a shorter actuation distance than the other switches so they’ll respond faster

It doesn't really matter since most games support your ping minimum 9ms , let alone people who have 30+ ping
Dogs and Gooses forever ok but in fortnite I sometimes get 0 or 1 ping

Too bad this keyboard isn't a 60 or 65%, the blue switches feel amazing. The ultra thin aluminum bezel is also a really nice touch.

One of your complaints is not being able to control media with F9-F12 without having to use the FN key, but you can. Just rebind the keys in the Logitech software. You can literally map any function to any key. As everyone else has said... TACTILE. Jesus bro, do some research before you make scuffed reviews.
Bought this last year. The blue switches hes reviewing are too loud and you are unable to switch them. They are soldered in.
Obviously blue switches are loud. And of course you can't just switch them :D

Wise choice. Me too. The Romer G tactile is a good middle ground between the silent Romer G linear and the clicky and wobbly GX, which in reality is an MX blue Kaihl. Unless you're a teen caught up in the RGB frenzy, the constant blue or red back-light shouldn't be a concern.

@@manlikeilyas I have the clicky version and it isn’t really worth the price. I don’t know about the tactile version but the clicky version was really loud and the space bar was tartly after a few months of use the keycaps became really shiny
I just traded my k60 rgb pro for this keyboard and I think it was worth it

@@Blu3boii I just came from another video which compare the tactile and linear and it seems the difference is very slight. The linear one is not that silent too. I'm so torn on replacing my 16 years old bacteria filled Logitech keyboard with this cos it's the first one with an LCD monochrome display and it's really useful for me. The prints on the keys are gone so if i have to look at what I'm typing I won't really know which is which 😂
Romer keys stinks, after a while they start chattering so that you get cc and ccc, oo and ooo, pp and ppp... and so on, drives you *MAD!*

Good thorough review. I'm in the market for Logitech mechanical keyboard, currently using TKL Vortex Gear but I'm kind of bummed with the occasional input error that necessitate a hard reboot from my system. I'm torn between G610 and G512. I really don't care about the RGB, backlight is just fine for me. One thing that pushed me towards the G512 is the raised switch position compared to the recessed switch on the G610. I live in a dusty environment, and dust accumulation is quite tragic. With raised switch, I can easily clean the gunk out with a toothpick and wet tissue or compressed air.
The most annoying part about it is the letters and stuff aren't centred on the keys.
