The metal that comes down and holds your handle for dumping the gray or black tank... try taken that metal out and replace it with a piece of angle iron.... many people throw away metal bed frames that are angle iron. So one can cut off a decent hung of that and use it. Then find someone that can weld it on

Add contact paper early !! That way the shelves finish will last and retain value. The turtle hybrid graphene spray is way better.

Excellent video Jared. We have a 2019 R-Pod 190, with the Thule awning, having to replace that seem bead was fun, had to remove the awning. I am going to get that stuff you used, should keep out the water better.

Stainless screws under the inserts would be an easy manufacture procedure or owner upgrade…. Good tips! I had an RV destroyed with a rotten floor because some lazy dumbass at the factory didn’t seal the fresh water fill plate correctly. The puddy was put on upside down with a large gap at the top that funneled water right into my wall and soaked my underbelly insulation. I looked for years where the water was getting in and never found it because it travelled to an area that was not near it. I even covered it with an actual RV cover. ALWAYS check any type of exposed connection that enters your wall for proper water sealing. Now I won’t own an RV with out a place to park it under cover!

Thanks Jared. Can you do a specific video of how do you perform the preparation and installation of the roof trim insert please. Agree that it is certainly a weak construction and sealing point and would like to do it as well. Thanks for all you do, have learned a lot from your videos. Blessings…

Great Tips Jared!! Just an FYI, on the cabinet shelving I found that Lowes Home Improvement has 1" wide by 2' long pieces of wood that I used to reinforce the shelving underneath. This made a huge difference on the shelving strength and my wife loads them up with canned food and we have never had an issue. Keep up the great work!!

Another MUST DO on your tires is check the manufacture date on the sidewall. Your tires may look new with plenty of good tread left, but if they are 5-7 years old, you should replace them asap. I replaced mine last year because I didn't want those China bombs that were on it from exploding on me at 65 mph and tearing up the side and bottom of my " retirement home ". It could also tear up your slide system if it's under your slide, and prevent you from extending/retracting your slide. I hated to spend the money for 5 new, better tires, but I figured it would save me time and money from having to have my rig in a repair shop for months fixing the damage from a blowout. Keep up the great vids!

Is anyone aware of a seller who sells that style of trim molding in 7/8 ? I order a sample pack from LPC thinking I'd probably need the 3/4 but no luck. My 2018 Adrenaline uses 7/8. I would think Coachman would be a common enough brand that someone would make the 7/8. Thanks.

I would add that as you are driving, you should shut the bedroom doors. This gives lateral support to the walls because it doesn't let a "hole" be in the wall as it flexes down the road.

I learned it better to first apply a good paste wax first. Then use the spray on wape off wax. I give my truck, Harley and Camper a good paste waxing in early Spring, then the rest of summer, Spring and Fall I use a good spray on wipe off wax. It's brings a quick and easy shine with the spray on, wipe off waxing after a good paste waxing. But, it's a job giving a large camper a paste waxing, but we'll work the trouble. Thanks for sharing this video!!..

Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax is super easy to use. You can spray it on the outside and then power wash it off. I usually spray the nose of mine a few times a year to give it extra protection from the bugs and rain hitting it.

Thanks Jared! Any tips on proactive fridge and furnace maintenance? We are full timers, so I find defrosting the fridge every month really helps. For the furnace, it's a good idea to inspect the duct seals especially leaving the furnace. You can really improve air flow to vent far from the furnace.

    • @jarodsnyder1698
      @jarodsnyder1698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

For the fridge, furnace, and hot water heater, They should be serviced every year to every other year depending on the use. the furnace might not be worth servicing if it's not accesible.

Get an infrared (laser pointer) thermometer and make a habit of checking the temp of the tire tread AND the wheel where it bolts to the hub. If one has a problem it will be hotter than the others and you’re more likely to catch a problem before you have a blow out or bearing failure.

Hey Jared great video as always. We have the same 28bh as you and was wondering… are you concerned at all with the trailer gvwr being 11,500 lbs but the axles are only 5200lb rated? Noticed this the other day and thought it was odd the axles weren’t 6000lb.

Awesome. That roof trim info was great.
My question is about the underbelly covering. We have a Layton 3 season with the black heavy corrugated stuff. It's warping from weathering, etc. I've tried to piece in and the tape fails. Should I just replace the whole underside? Is there a better material to install?

My question is this. My next RV will be fifth wheel, from my travel trailer. Currently own a Grand design product and love it. I am intrigued with the Jayco Eagle product. Have you had the chance to check them out? What are your thoughts?

I own a 15 year old Jayflight and its in excellent shape. Just ran into ex owners of a similar Jayco trailer and they regret the change in company. I hope to hang on to my camper for at least another 5 years. As I see it, it may outlast my expectations. New stuff is garbage.

Hi Jared, I have owned a 5th wheel for 21 years now and have gone to the RV college of trial & error...but...the seals you show on this video WILL be added to my Rv! Thanks for that tip for a real problem area. If I may, I am a finish carpenter by trade and a cabinet wholesaler these days...the "weak points" of RV cabinetry are many! The shelf caution you mentioned is very real. But...even more important is the way they are hung on the walls! Maybe you can add to this...by checking the screws and attachment points to the walls. The walls are just as thin as the shelves. I have loosened the screws, created a small 1/8" space/gap at the tops of the wall cabinets and used a construction adhesive to bond the top of the wall cabinets to the complete paneling as the screws are tightened. This locks the complete cabinet to the outside walls where the support is "stressed" the most. I have even used small beads of clear silicone down the exposed sides for even more adhesion. This needs to be done neatly, so it is not unsightly of coarse. In my RV, I even doubled the larger shelf bottoms with another piece of 1/4" finish plywood for added strength for heavy stuff.
Thanks again for some great info videos! Ted

Good tips. What do you think about applying sealant into the roof channel before you replace the rubber trim? That way, even if water does get in, it won't get past the silicone sealant?
