    Worked as a contractor for Vector in Florida. Was a designer of some of the graphics, all the labeling and the owner's manual. If you own a Vector, you don't have an owner's manual because I have them all. Vector stiffed me for the payment to photograph, design and print the manual so I've kept them all these years!

    I almost bought a yellow Megatech Lamborghini powered M12 back in the late 90s. It had the original 3-spoke wheel design which i thought looked really cool. At the test drive, I remember parking my Norfolk Mustard yellow Esprit S4s (also restyled by Peter Stevens) next to it and nobody even noticed my car. People were pulling off the road with their cameras to take pictures of the M12. The car felt very fast. I managed to go 140 uphill on the 528 Causeway headed to Cocoa Beach. I could have gone faster, but there was traffic because there was a space shuttle launch that day. All the tourists were going crazy over the car. In the end, the car felt a bit too kitcar-ish and i was concerned about getting it serviced, so i didn't buy it. Still, quite an experience though.

      I may have seen this exact car in 97 or 98 getting gas at a 7-11 at West Dixie Highway and 123rd st in North Miami. Yellow, the same 3 spoke wheels you mentoned. I knew exactly what it was and annoyed the crap out of the two dudes that we're driving it, haha! It is burned in my memory forever. Absolutely blew my mind how low the car was and just beautiful. It and the XJ220 seemed like the lowest, sleekest, sexiest cars of the 90s.

    • @topfitnessssss
      @topfitnessssss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@556musicman Wow you guys are amazing because I've seen that VERY same M12 in Fly Yellow - parked head to head with a Diablo of the exact same colour on Collins Ave, right on front of the Versace store back in 1999/2000 .. I've spotted it also at a North Miami beach hotel, parked right up front and I learnt then that that Vector was for used as a daily rental .. Later perhaps like a year or two, I spotted it at TOYS CARS, parked in a closed garage but I could see through it .. In 2000 I actually called TOYS CARS and the sell guy told me it was for sale for $200,000 .. That M12 was my dream car and the exact same model was exposed in their show room, painted with the American Flag and the Liberty Lady all over its body .. I'll NEVER forget those years even tho I didnt have the cash to buy it, .. Ahhh memories ...

    • @JohnSmith-ys4nl
      @JohnSmith-ys4nl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a big problem with something like the Vector where only 20ish cars were produced per model. In order to own a car like this, you just really have to love cars and be willing to deal with all the headaches that surround it. Either that or never drive it. Because NO ONE is going to have much of a clue of how to service it and finding parts would be almost impossible.

  • @SurenDrakensberg

    The first generation Vector W8 was a an impressive sports car; with it's unique angular shaped exterior, jet fighter influenced interior, and performance capabilitie. I remember as a 22 year old, seeing an image of it in a magazine back in the early 90s, and thinking the M12 was a complete let down. I didn't know that the company was taken over by the guys who owned Lamborghini. All I can say, From a branding standpoint they, they squandered all the passion, mystery, innovation, and cool factor, Gerald Weigart originally created! That is sadly what happens when a founder and his vision are high jacked by large corporate entities.

      John Stramiello ...design wise, and for collectibility & future value, the w8 is the more desired. From a styling standpoint, this thing resembles a cross between an F40 and early 2000’s NSX. And don’t be surprised to hear that’s where Honda got their styling cues for that hideously huge rear valance “wing.”

    I just stumbled on your channel from the VIN Wiki Jay Leno Appraisal. I popped into your shop when you had this car parked outside. This was probably November 2019. I was in Miami for work, and was just driving from the hotel to wherever with a coworker and I saw it and did a triple take: "THAT'S A F****** VECTOR!! M12!!" Pictures from 90s magazines flooded back from the depths of my memory. We turned around, snapped a few pics of the car, and poked around the showroom a little. You also had a silver EB110 inside at the time. Staff couldn't have been nicer either. The best car shops are run by car guys that welcome other car guys, even if we're not buying.
    It's still the only Vector I've seen in person, so thanks for that!

I was fortunate to sit in the WX-3 prototype (when it was silver) at Vector's Southern CA "factory" right after it has been "completed". When the WX-3 evolved into the M12, it was heartbreaking to me. To me, the M12 is but a cheap knock-off (production friendlier) of the WX-3. The funny thing about the Vector is no one seems to remember that the first one was bought by Andre Agassi
    He was at the top of his fame at this time and there were all kinds of press conferences and news reports about it because of him.
    I wonder if he really kept it?

    Improve the A/C and pay a designer to create tight clamp down upper windows and this car would be awesome.

    A/C isn't great, super difficult to get in/out of, window can only slip a speed ticket etc, but goes on saying there still is something worth praising about this car.
    If this guy ever says a certain car is crap, I would believe him 100%.

      And the climate control cluster looks like it was sourced from Visteon/Ford. They look pretty much identical to the system I had in my old 1994 Ford Tarurus SHO.
